I would have never known this. Dacob, thank you so much for making this video.
Thank you for watching Octobermoon 🥰💖🎀 Glad I could shed some light on this situation 💖💖💖
Excellently said Dacob. 👏👏👏 I had no idea about this👍Great knowledge. Thanks for it❤
Thank you dear 🥰💖
I posted an article on Vivienne in Discord wearing her dress around the house. SJP absolutely had the dress altered to fit her and it seems there was added tulle to SJP's liking for fit and flare. Such a shame....
Hi Dacob, the AJLT team is not only destroying dresses, but, a whole show that used to be damned fantastic...😢 Love you 🩷🩷🩷🩷
It is fascinating to listen to you talk about fashion history. You should do it more often I really enjoyed it
I so agree 💯❤️
This video hit my like a train, hit me with nothing but truth what has been told and what we humans are capable of.
Dacob, once again, wonderful work, thank you for bottom of my heart for your time, hard work to bringing this up. You are really one of a kind.
In this bittersweet moment I would like to wish all the best to 10th year anniversary to your channel.
Thank you,
Your Zac ❤️
This subject is very dear to my heart! I am an average person, but have collected vintage fashion since i was a teen many years ago. I had a vintage business for a while, and have sourced items to some high end boutiques who sold my pieces to celebs. I absolutely cannot stand people who destroy these pieces just because!! Just last week I came across an Alterations shop on FB who had ripped apart and hacked up this exquisite entirety beaded 1950s wedding ball gown.i have seen very few dresses on this level out in the wild, it was not an average piece. Not even close. It didn't fit the bride. The after looked nothing like the original. Totally destroyed. When i asked why someone would hack that dress up, the mobs came for me like nothing i have ever experienced. I think the tailor must have blasted me somewhere and encouraged these people to come after me. Their behavior was sickening and these people were so vile. Apparently the "repurpose" fashion crowd view fashion as trash that is going to go to the landfill, and cutting it up is far batter for the environment. Also told there are no collectors or museums that want fashion, and i was ridiculous to suggest this dress was art and should be preserved. It crushed my soul. I'm glad to know that there are still lovers of the art of fashion out there like you Dacob❤
I just found you and am enjoying your content so much! I agree with your opinion on preserving history. Thank you!
Excellent analysis ❤
Flames….flames… on the side of my face… heaving… heaving breaths…. Dacob, you probably already know my opinion and my thoughts.. I hate people. I really REALLY hate people.I am so pissed I was sick when you did this live. IF it was Vivians I’m pissed. I’m really hoping that it was one that they found at what goes around comes around.
Fake tan as a costumer PISSES ME OFF TO NO END! The number of perfectly wonderful antique and vintage pieces that are now WORTHLESS because of fake tan getting on them . AND as a girl who is very fair, love the skin you are in.
We got confirmation after filming this video that the dress was indeed Vivienne’s and it was purchased at the Christie’s auction this past June as per a person who worked at the auction.
@SuperDacob and people wonder why I like History, Dr.Pepper and like 3 people. I sooo .. I just... words.. I don't have them for the stupid.
This broke my heart, not just a little. Fashion history is real history. These fools are like pac-man monsters just gobbling things up with no anima. It is really unfortunate. Vivienne still has so many stories to tell with these pieces. I can't believe they are disappearing in this way. I loved hearing the story of this dress. It's beautiful. She really was one of a kind. Thank you Dacob.
I really loved this video Dacob! Hello from Australia 🇭🇲💕
Thank you for educating us queen, adore you! Do you know when the next season premieres ?
Great video! Thank you for sharing the knowledge! Knowing is priceless!
Such an important topic and video! Thanks!!
Love this kind of history.please share with us more of it. Thank you
These dresses shouldn't have been auctioned. They should have been bought by the UK and a museum should have been made in the honor of Vivienne Westwood. Now, if a museum is made at some point, they will have to dig everywhere for the archives... It's the government fault. On the other hand... she is the mastermind of the punk fashion.
Wait, why the government's fault? If Vivienne really wanted to, she could have striked a deal with a museum to preserve it all. I think she just wanted to get the most bang for her buck to give to charity which is probably why she requested it be sold after her death.
Thanks for the history on that dress 👏🏽
I have a VW top that I purchased years ago from YOOX. Similar silver grey colour with a boat neck, long tube sleeves and the top is twisted. I love it. You just reminded me that I have it. I’ll have to dig it out 😊
Oooh, and the Punk era. I remember seeing Punks hanging around the streets of London 🇬🇧 as a kid in the 70s.
Their spiked coloured mohicans and mohawks, torn clothes, distressed Union Jacks, tartan drainpipes, nappy pin 🧷 piercings.
Google the images. At the time they were seen as troublesome but looking back now, they looked amazing. It’s an era like no other.
Are there any original Punks in the chats❓ They’ll be in their 80s now ❓
I did wonder where you were going at the start. Very interesting indeed....💜
Thank you for staying and watching till the end. 🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖
don’t mess with dacob’s VW knowledge! art lovers unite
The dress is not ill-fitted. It is ill-fitted ON HER!
I didn’t know about this dress so I googled it and saw how Vivien use to rock this dress. Anyone but her wearing it, it would look too out of place and ill-fitted.
Just the immense fashion knowledge is amazing to me…. I love these videos… entertaining AND giving knowledge. Plus, of course, reason to think more deeply! Thanks Dacob!
So interesting ... I have agree...this dress belongs in a museum. It should never have been auctioned. Vivienne's husband should have donated this dress in the first place to her favorite museum in her honor and fashion legacy.
5:48 'Whaaaaa? Oh wow!!' my actual reaction... Now on to continue with Professor Dacob's Lecture, thank-you-very-much!!! Seriously, thank you so much Dacob ♥️🙌🙏❤️❤️
The infamous pink Chanel suit is next 😹. I need to watch the rest of this live stream, I fell asleep mid way. Remember the Steve & Barry’s debacle?! That was crazy! Yeah u gotta be careful with the body oils for sure. I’m going to reupholster some things and I’m so worried about crocking with pants, it’s already happened once but thankfully was a chair I already had plans to redo.
Very sad😢 would have loved the opportunity to perhaps see the gown on a mannequin in a beautiful museum. 💙💜💙
Your knowledge and passion around fashion history is so important. Thank you for sharing
sigh. Another day, another heartbreak. May it please be a replica! I cried and then got furious when I saw KK wearing the Marilyn Monroe dress. Thank you for another fascinating video, Super Dacob.
Omg1
I watched this whole auction, thinking snarky thoughts about the kim k moments to come. And here is number one. Truthfully, I’m a little glad it was sjp on high quality recordings, because I am guessing that a lot of those items will only be worn to sweet sixteen parties and tiny dinners.
Thanks Dacob, for speaking out about this.
Rest in peace Vivienne xo
🫶🏼❤🙏🏼♥️🫶🏼
The play on textures (silk, chiffon, satin) and the use of the modern blue hues (from this époque) is stunning, especially as this cut fabric plays with light. SJP is 100X more beautiful today, than back in the 90’s…the longer hemline is classic Carrie Bradshaw!
That dress had the echo of vivienne westwood just like Marilyn's all lost
I dont anything about fashion but as art lover i can relate why you are upset. People with money with no intelligence or taste are destroying the legacy of talented people. Reminds me when the father son duo speculated with paintings
I really like the way you argue your point
Thank you 💖
Thank you so much for this video, I would love similar videos about fashion history, this is so interesting
So to be fair SJP and Sex And The City have a history with Vivienne. The Bridal gown was a huge piece of history on the show and Carrie as a character has shown great respect for her. It does kind of fit with the character that Carrie would bid on such a special dress and be excited to wear it.
Good insight. I agree with you.
amazing video!
Kim K will be wearing the Shroud of Turin at the next Met Gala and yes it will need to be modified.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing with us 💕
Sjp is so annoying she needs to sit down and go away
I come here
For an educational sermon from the Church of Dacob
you look STUNNING!
The stylists and makeup artists from SATC complained about what a struggle it was to make SJP look good 😂
Wait until they see anything from maison margiela shows
I'm speechless... and that doesn't happen often. Oh dear, this is awful! She would have prefered to burn it for sure! Thank you Dacob for sharing your knowledge and opinion, this is so important. I blame not only Sarah Jessica, for me the whole production team is at fault. The 'ok' doesn't come from one person only, they all (the main cast in the new show) are producers of some sort, right? They could change the story to a whole new direction, (and I'm sorry but it is not of my liking, I loved the original series, and now this), so how come they did not have any influence on this decision? They are all at fault, as I see it, for letting this happen or for not doing anything to preserve it, if this is the Dame's creation (which seems to be... alledgedly) they knew it they could have done much more if as they claim they love art and fashion. How greedy and self centered. This piece belongs in a museum and also 25k is not beyond the scope of the budget for many academic institutions, including museums... I really wonder WHAT happened?! We all, don't we?
Guys, I know this is serious but I was laughing a bit because this whole disaster of an auction reminded me of the comedy 'Mickey Blue eyes' a silly movie. There's so much corruption everywhere that who knows, we might never know, this is so terribly sad :(
Thanks for bringing up awareness dear Dacob
A very informative video that exposes ignorance and greed.
The result is bad, the deep tan and the gray dress, so why risking ruining at historic dress for that not iconic result.
My indignation matches yours.
"the zoe report' - Rachel Zoe is one of the most horrendous souls in fashion. She is such a bully, and a definition Narc
As soon as I saw it I thought it looks like a Cinderella dress I thought it was beautiful. So sad she's walking around with it like regular clothes...
Thank you for making sure WE know. 👍🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for the gift membership , mystery benefactor ❤❤❤
I love this history lesson :)
OMG! I love you so much for this, but this might be fake or a copy because I have /had Zoom in both pictures. The one carrier is wearing the copy, and the details on the shoulders are different, too. I do know, but it seems like two different fabric colours. Also, this reminds me of when Kim Kashadin wore a Marilyn dress at the gala. 🙄
Couldn't agree with you more. The egos of women like KK and (I really hope not!) maybe SJP, doing this for their own gratification... it's entitled ego trips beyond measure.
P.S. thanks Dacob, this was really informative and interesting. And a little heartbreaking.
Your thoughts on the Vivienne Westwood collaboration with the streetwear brand Palace that came out( and mostly sold out) earlier today?
Not targeting you Dacob and I understand your passion and sentiment in this video, it's possible that the dress on SJP is just a copy of Vivienne's actual dress. For me, even if it is the actual Vivienne dress, I don't mind if SJP bought the dress and had it altered to fit her to wear on her show. At least a Vivienne Westwood fan, as SJP is known to be, is giving it visibility and new life by continuing to wear it. If the dress now belongs to SJP or HBO, we can only hope that it will be treasured and cared for, maybe even worn again like Vivienne did over and over, after the media rounds. I understand and respect your stance in preserving and archiving historical pieces, I'm just of a slightly different mindset. As an older vampire, I've also learned it's not always beneficial to assume. I hope that you and your fans (some of which can be quite voracious!) understand that you can have fans/friends/followers that have differing opinions and see the value different points of view add to dialogue.
The dress looks like something Elizabeth Taylor would have worn. The corset is very structured. It's Vivenne Westwood? OK that makes sense!
You know when it starts with Y’ll!
Oh my dear fashion Bestie, Dacob, my passion is right with you. The Jackie-O comparison is brilliant. The old auction argument is between scientists, collectors, and the entitled. Scientist will say the item needs to be put in a museum. Or even it needs to be further examined. Hopefully a collector will house the important garment in an appropriate environment and possibly an entitled buyer could donate it to a museum. But we know greed is the normalcy in which people collect. The deed is done, at least we can have the conversation. Vivian Westwood rest in peace.🫀
love Vivienne.... kim with the marilyn dress was just a slob show ....the essence is gone I feel when someone else merges its not "one of a kind" anymore but tainted by another....JUST WONDERING Are you good with maybe authenticating old seconditonaries pieces ? I have a what I feel a original 70s naked cowboy shirt with the hand punched snap button rivet and stitched jelly pocket ...still unsure but bought this almost 20 years ago from a dealer and have a huge paper work about the authenticity ? its a super rare piece and know her and malcolm did jelly pockets at a time it was always creative... my friend also has a brooch that is from the 40s that we all know she mustve been inspired for her logo as its the same awesome orb
BTW love the Cinderella dress - didn't JAY Z by Beyonce the comparison dress ? lol you are right though It sucks when money can control it shouldn't be that way with artifacts somethings should just be protected...I cried when Elizabeth Taylors grandkids sold EVEN HER LOVE LETTERS at auction like such barnacles!
Typical Sjp behavior 😂
I understand were you coming from
but
I would look at it as flattering to her that she’s bringing the item out so everyone can see it and learn about it… we would never know about it if you didn’t talked about it
So maybe it was for a good reason
Sad... 🫣😢

Jessica Parker look good on it! She can sell it after wearing it on the show.
I appreciate so much how meticulously you breakdown the bs and expose the crux of the issue. I imagine this instance in particular must have been hard for you to watch unfold. 🩶
