yeah that was kinda eye opening. EastWest do have a whole series of libraries designed directly for it (Not part of the composer cloud though), and EW are the guys who do a lot of the orchestral libraries used in film scoring studios and the like. Haven't tried them, but if they are anything like the regular keyboard ones, they very likely sound stunning and very much like real instruments (the EW hollywood brass/string stuff, are regularly used in film/games and you wouldnt know it wasnt a real orchestra unless you had a damn good ear for it.
I have one of these too and it's great. I can play guitar better than I'll ever play keyboards so for adding other parts in studio its great. I haven't gigged with it yet...might try. my main band has 2 guitars so we could work it into a few tunes. It tracks really well, better than anything else I have tried, but it doesn't feel like playing a musical instrument in the normal sense. You have to adjust your playing and play really clean.
Seems to trigger well and the sounds demonstrated also sound good, not freeware cheesy. I assume the sound module can be incorporated in a production as a VSTi (and not just in the supplied DAW software) so you can record the MIDI and not just the audio and be able to tweak an replace sounds later on. Oh, and by the way - if you don't need wireless, is this still a good buy or is there a better less expensive choice for us who don't mind a cable?
+MatsDagerlind Yes, you can trigger any vst software instruments with it, not just the ones included (which are great!). The wireless is a nice additional perk, but even without the price is right in my opinion!
Very nice! How's the latency and how does it handle hammer ons and pull offs? I heard it track bending, but it wasn't clear how good the response was. Did you feel like it was tracking really well? Do you hold back when you play it? Can it be used with other DAWS, like Cubase, Reason, or Sibelius? Can you tell I'm on the verge of buying? Hahah.
I bought the Triple Play and foot pedal about 3 years ago but wasn't able to get it to do much of anything. The pickup was installed easy but I wasn't able to get synth sounds so I put it away. I would like to get it out and give it another try but could definitely use some help. I wasn't able to get ANY help from Fishman!
Hi David, I know the Tripleplay has been out for a while now, but I have not seen a video that tells whether or not this device has virtual guitar modeling, as how a Variax guitar modeling, or how, say, a Boss SY1000 has various guitar models in it. As an example, does the TriplePlay software have Stratocaster models, so a user can create a preset with a modeled Stratocaster, virtually put into an alternate tuning, such as drop D, as an example?
Thanks for this David, a lot ofTriplePlay discussion in MIDI Guitar groups, not much first-hand testing, kinda expensive for an experiment, especially if we already have a lot of $$ invested in other MIDI gear/guitars. BUT, there's room for improvement, obviously. How is the tracking into your computer, are you experiencing any latency between the time you play a line & the synth actually triggers? This is the biggest drawback for previous MIDIfied axes, I have several & while much improved over the years, still not "perfect." I'll be interested in your experiences sequencing parts with it. Thanks, again! :D
+Zeek Duff So far the tracking speed is really excellent, I thought that being wireless it would be bad, but surprisingly not... Of course the tracking has a lot to do with how you play though and midi can't really reproduce all the nuances a guitar player puts into the playing, but I know that you already know that! :)
+David Wallimann Awesome rig and a lot smaller footprint than a GK-3. I have several of those, and a Carvin with the LR Baggs 13 pin system (proprietary Roland system, for the MIDI Guitar uninitiated folks) a Godin ACS Slim with the RMC sys & had a MultiacJazz I sold (weighed a ton & is long scale) & hence installed the great (but now unobtainable) RMC setup on a Les Paul. I like them all for certain things, but of course, you must go through a Roland "translator" for all the 13 pin rigs. That by itself causes some latency, but it's gotten "livable" and as you say, you adapt your playing to it. But, everyone serious about MIDI Guitar would like to be able to bypass that Roland GR necessity, I haven't even fully set up my GR-55, spent too much time on a GR-30, followed quickly by a GR-33 that's been in use over a decade, so yeah - it's time for something easier to deal with that works well. Looking forward to more on this from you man, thanks again! :)
Very nice system.Although,How about for us who play with the sustain/piano pedal? Is there a way to sustain chords? can you do a demo if so? thank you. awesome playing BTW!!!
Omg ...You had me sold on the 1st note !!!!! This sounds so 80's and beyond...I love the sounds. Thats accordian sounds makes me laugh! Great demo David .
David Wallimann..hi sir,i need help..this is my first time using triple play ,do i need to use interface to make my guitar sound?the synth and mix in the controller are working but when i switch to guitar, there's no sound at all..(i just connect the computer directly to my amp w/o using interface..)is this the reason why it doesn't sound?(sorry about my english)..thank u and more power to you..
Have to look into this some more. I have an older Roland which has some great sounds but doesn't always track just right. It sounds like this requires a software host though.
hi everyone: 0) I have some questions about the Triple play-System and the Live Konfiguration. 1.) can i use my own patches live without a Computer on Stage? .I think with only the Fc1 Fishman Footcontroller ? 2.) Can i store the patches in the Usb-Stick , into the Fc1-Footcontroller and change between some patches? Thanks so much for help, and sorry for my bad english :0) Jens
Is the USB connection class compliant? Will it show up under Windows as a MIDI device without installing software? I'm hoping to connect my guitar to a hardware analog synth WITHOUT a computer in between. I found a small device which connects class conpliant USB-over-MIDI to 5 PIN DIN without a computer...also Akai MPC X will accept external USB controllers as long as they're class-compliant.
I have a question for you plz hope you can help me,can i use the triple play as an wireless system?i have line6 pedal and need to activated threw the triple play wireless to play without jack on thr effects if the line6 is there a way?
I recently bought a tripleplay. What is the best software to tab guitar parts. Most issue I see online are 1st position errors. If a note is played on the 7th fret on the 6th string it will tab 2nd fret on 5th string. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Works well ? Any better than Jam Origin's MIDI guitar ? At least in terms of tracking and response for fast attack sound i.e piano and electric piano type patces?
+Clutch Yes, you would think. However I've used hardware solutions before and they ALL suck big time. And I really hate connecting all this crap to my good guitars. But, it's worth looking into I guess.
The Software is great . I own it. Don't get me wrong. However it's still a bit glitchy on quick response patches i.e piano. String patches or pads are the best. With piano, it just doesn't respond properly. I get delayed notes, double notes, and "left out" notes and excess notes. I've tried most things that I see some people do and still it's not so great. So, that's what I meant.
What else could you need for creating music? I think it's well worth the money if you can put aside for it and effect pedals have started to become useless in the presence of software nowadays
TriplePlay wireless has a rechargeable lithium ion battery installed. There is also a wired version that connects (and gets power) via a USB cable. Sometimes you will trigger an unwanted note, but generally speaking it tracks better and faster than the Roland guitar to MIDI.
there have been a few of these done in the past which do everything aswell as this, could you review something different like the "hot hand" as it can control effects instead of just midi
Yes, but you need either the Fishman FC-1 or a USB MIDI Host box, like the Kenton. (An ordinary USB to MIDI converter won't work for TriplePlay because that is designed to be connected to a computer, so you need to look for USB MIDI Host adapter.)
@@Wallimann tks, u r still not sleeping in France?? I stay in Vnam, we are up. So, my idea would have been: Triple play to a midi synthesizer pedal and it goes to my guitar amp. Is it possible? And is there any acoustic guitar sound available that is better than lets say the variax? Tks
Does the USB behave as a normal midi input device so that you can use any other software you like with it or do you have to use the proprietary software the unit comes with? What if you want to output to another device with a midi input connector? would that be possible?
+Digital Insan1ty The usb acts as a standard MIDI input, I use mine to control Logic Pro X instruments. Controlling another MIDI device should be possible I think!
Sometimes you can get ghost notes with TriplePlay, and the likelihood of seeing this problem depends on a variety of factors, such as guitar construction, hardtail vs tremolo bridge, fret condition, string gauge, picking position, and more. We recently added a feature called "Monitor hand position" that allows the TriplePlay to estimate where your fretting hand is located on the neck, and based on this it can filter out notes that you could not possibly reach. This can help when your guitar is susceptible to ghost notes from TriplePlay. Playing slower in general will not make any difference; TriplePlay can keep up with very fast playing.
+David Wallimann Mais oui! I now have my MacBook in the effctsloop of the AxefxII and put a volumecontroller after the loop. That workshop Well via fullrange speakers. In order to change patches you still need a footcontroller. I was also thinking of the Keith Mcmillen pedal for patch changes and/or manipulating sounds.
Seriously, is this for real? I've been struggling with getting MIDI guitar working from so many angles for so long, and I eventually settled on this fancy ass Godin that works pretty good with my late 80's gear. But to configure it, I need to work with the silly old hardware interface. Are you SERIOUSLY telling me that this works on most guitars, and you can play it like you played it in this video? I'm feeling a little skeptical that this video might be showing this device "in its best light". But if this thing really works as shown, I will drop the dollars in a second. Also, thanks for the video! It was informative and exciting (I've just been burned by MIDI guitar too many times!).
