Hey everyone, thanks for all the messages and patience! It took a while to get a new video out, haha. I was sick, and then got sicker. I'm still taking it easy and recovering, it'll take a while to get my energy back, and get back into the groove. Anyway, hope everyone is doing good, take care and thanks for watching.
I am in my 70’s and look forward to your videos, of about 40 UA-camrs I follow you are the one I look forward to seeing. I have had camper vans off and on for 50 years. My first was a 1969 ford l lived in 3 years mining gold in New Mexico. I am not in good health so I live my dreams through people like you. 👏👍🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸
The number one best reason for upgrading to this bigger van: without it you wouldn’t have space to have gotten Rocko. I can’t imagine your life/channel without her in it now. I think it makes your fans happy that you have company with you.
honestly it was unbelievable, I remember first seeing it and thinking it was insane with the flat walls. And then over time I remember thinking it was genius with the flat walls.
It was impressive but those vans are so notoriously unreliable I was biting my nails knowing he took that thing as deep into the bush as he does. I'm glad he went with the chevy 4x4 conversion, it's a suggestion that a lot of followers back in the day recommended. He has so much more room now which is huge for mental health
I’d like to see an alternative , first a winter space , not a cabin, but something that shows frugal living, like a shop space, fully insulated ,solar and so on
Rocko's thoughts: "Who is he talking to?" lol. I finally broke down and had my front passenger seat removed for my elderly sickly dog. Never realized how useful the front seat was. Glad you're feeling better. Never push too quickly while trying to recover.
You got that right. I just suffered from a TIA which is a mini stroke and I’m trying so hard to not push myself and take the time to recover. I’m 51 years old and likely a TIA generally Leaves no signs of an actual stroke but if I don’t take it easy very easily turn into a full-blown stroke next time
I realize that you know all the ins-and-outs and the plusses and minuses of your van build, but one thing trumps it all. Your van is just stone cold cool!
Very useful video. Rocko adores you. It's easy to see the way she gazes at you. She'd walk to the ends of the Earth with you. Any time you post a video is a good day. Take care of yourself and Rocko. Hopefully you are back to full strength soon.
What you have done is something ALOT of us out here wish we could do, much respect to you for doing it. Thank you for sharing and allowing us to tag along and experience this with you.
The joys of vanlife. Loved the setup, much more stuff than I've got. Jealous. Been living in my VW transporter for 5 years now following snow, it's so much better than when I shared with housemates.
Your build is first and foremost practical, but also feels and looks homey! I love how it's not tall and narrow. It feels open, lots of light and windows!
It’s nice to see you feeling better. One step at a time as your life evolves. It’s nice to have a peek at another persons life . I enjoy your videos. Your non pretentious ways make you like able .
I loved this van build, my dad & I rewatched it recently (those initial 4/5 episodes), proper exciting starting fresh. As others have said Rocco has been a welcome addition along with the cosy stove.
Foresty I stared my van life exactly when you did. I moved from a Mitsubishi SUV to a RAM Promaster City Van 17 months ago. Being much smaller and front wheel drive I cannot have the complexity of your build. I am happy and you are happy so all is well. I am wintering at Overton NV you are welcome here.
Rocko has turned out to be such an awesome dog. I enjoy your channel more than any other on the tube. You deserve every cent you make. Peace and love from Montana!
Your idea for a camper shell is great, for all the reasons you covered. Makes a ton of sense to have a truck that can 4 wheel a lot better than a van- particularly for you as your use is about as extreme as it gets. Unlike a weekend warrior you need the best gear to meet the highest difficulty. Thanks for all the great content!
I don't have a full-on build yet, nor a vehicle really suited for one, but you just convinced me that my next vehicle needs to be a truck. I "car camp" frequently, but being set up better is a real goal for me. The ability to take your build from one truck to the next is an idea I hadn't thought of. Thanks!
Hello Forest love your van and your video's i have been a fan for a few years .I have a 1995 g20 2500 chevy van that use alot and looking forward to many more ventures.Stay real and stay safe.
Your van is perfect, I feel like this is one of the more live in situations. Watching you build this one and the last setup is inspiring. Keep up the good work. My wife would like to see more of the pup. 🤘❤️🤘
Glad to see you back and hope you continue to improve. I started watching you when you was in your smaller van and it got about 30 below with snow one night. Wow!
I like your van. You made some good points about a van vs. fancy vans or campers. I have a 3/4 ton Chevy Pickup and I carry a 2600 overhead camper. It is very comfortable (Fridge, toilet, indoor and outdoor shower and in/out gas cookers/ heater/ac/memory foam queen bed, etc.) and drives well, except it is top heavy. High winds and side-sloped tracks are scary. Also going down long steep hills takes frequent stops to let the brakes cool. Every mode of camping/travel has it's ups and downs. I love your videos and your life style. Take care of yourself and Rocco, and many Blessings to all.
Have officially made 6 successful trips in my forestry inspired 07 express, in school at the moment but once I’m done the cubic cub is going in so we can venture out in the winter time!! A BIG THANKS FROM AB FORESTY 🇨🇦
I saw the coolest pickup truck camper build about 3 years ago .. They managed to build so that it was easy to detach at a campground so that they could use the truck without the camper part. I was fascinated though the owners said their biggest worry is that it could be stolen easily. They were working on a theft guard thingie when I met them
4 years already. Feels like yesterday when you started out in the minivan, with not much in it. You are putting yourself and your kit through a lot. I'd look forward to the occasional videos elaborating on the durability of the equipment you use, including the clothing. Doesn't always have to be scenic and athletic exploits, especially when you are exhausted, which you must be sometimes.
Great tour. I have the same philosophy of use as you...I came to the nomad lifestyle after extensive long distance backpacking and bike packing experience. I have been in a 4x4 pickup and Four Wheel Camper pop-up rig for almost six years now...I love it! Only thing I would change is getting a 3/4 ton truck instead of a half ton for the more rugged suspension, axles, etc. LOVE my Four Wheel Camper Hawk shell model.
You have amazing technical skills. My single favourite item is your indoor fire, it seems like it adds company as well as free heat and cooktop. Best wishes.
Your pared down/practical build is wicked cool. It seems like a lot of "home" builds tend to be restricted to desert/lower humidity regions, which is understandable. Also just really fond of the idea of being super remote with a pooch. Glad you're feeling better
Your van build is by far my favorite of all the ones I've seen. And I agree with another comment which said they'd like to see you get a piece of land somewhere for a home base. And I love Rocko to pieces.
@Foresty Forest: Glad you are feeling better, hope you are 100% soon. Lets hope that when the time comes and you want to upgrade your ride, it is not because of moose strike or some other major disaster. In that case may I suggest you do like last time, sell the 4x4 as is, minus your personal gear and Rocco. Then buy new or at least current tech for building your next ride, whatever you end up deciding on driving. Looking forward to your future adventures and long may you and Rocco travel the road!
Glad you're on the mend. I kind of feel like I already saw a van tour by watching you build it out, but it's nice to see an overview of the finished product.
I've been looking for a 4x4, even a looked at one like yours but only a 1500. No glass except for sliding cargo door and had rust. 17 grand which is more then its worth. So the Search Continues! Thanks for the tour! I remember your mini van...and the frigid temps you endured.
Glad you are on the other side man ❤
Glad you are feeling better ... take it easy as you recover!
Get better soon
We’ve missed you 😊
Glad you’re back! Been worried for a few days now!

I know exactly what you mean. I can't do hiking or even walk far so he is my eyes.
Mm
That’s cool. I love watching his videos also. I’m in my early 50s and have never lived off grid but I am very fascinated with the whole situation.
Foresty, I can't figure you out. My best guess is that you are a mechanical genius. Creative, athletic and culinary savant. And, very nice guy...
Agree
People don't need to be figured out. lol.
@@67redhead For some people it is just their nature to try and understand people. It isn't a bad thing, it's a human thing.
What i got from Forestry is that you didnt have to be all those things to do those thngs, just a little research and some DIY spirit.
I think what you you get. Just more heart.
The number one best reason for upgrading to this bigger van: without it you wouldn’t have space to have gotten Rocko. I can’t imagine your life/channel without her in it now. I think it makes your fans happy that you have company with you.
He’s alive!!!
Me at my desk, "It's Foresty Forest!" excitement level +100
Rocco has been my favourite edition to the Foresty Forest family. Been a great adventure to live vicariously through the channel.
Rocco Siffredi 😄
The crock pot is giving you an evil glare.
@@Capecodham wth is wrong with you.
@@Capecodham Wait'll you find out some of us are just here for the Ninja Foodi recipes/tutorials.
Bet you are the life of the party..........NOT
HEY Hello to you and Rocko! It is good to see you two, thumbs UP!! 👍
Ok, keep on getting better man. All subscribers standing by and wishing you well!
The new bigger van is cool, but I liked seeing the absolutely crazy efficiency in the usage of space in the old van
honestly it was unbelievable, I remember first seeing it and thinking it was insane with the flat walls. And then over time I remember thinking it was genius with the flat walls.
Are there videos still available to watch of the old van?
@@GreenVegan816 just scroll through his channel, about 2 years ago
Agreed it was amazing and the stealthiest one you'll ever see. Pretty hilarious when Chrome tried to get in it though.
ROCCO is a beautiful pup!!! Lovely companion.....
Yay he’s back!!
Hi Forresty...so good to see you this afternoon. I needed my Forresty Fix.....😊
Thank goodness, a Foresty Forest and Rocko video. My Tuesday just went from good to FABULOUS!
I’m so glad that two of you are ok and good hear from you xxx
Whoop whoop! Oregon coast rain after noon just got better with a Foresty Forest and his trusty co-star Rocko video!
The camper idea is a good idea, being able to seperate the units
And you could get yourself a home base too, piece of land
This ☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽
I’d love to see a full size log cabin build
I’d like to see an alternative , first a winter space , not a cabin, but something that shows frugal living, like a shop space, fully insulated ,solar and so on
i’d love to see a home base, a piece of ideal land and a custom log cabin
Ditto! Somewhere that Rocko can call home. Loved the log cabin build
Get well soon... thanks for the update!
Keep yourself healthy above all else, Foresty. The channel can wait.
Good to hear from you Foresty, stay well :)

It's more important to be comfortable in your home than what it looks like. You are very successful. Just love Rocco
My mechanical expertise is pretty much limited to “Righty tighty, Lefty loosy”. I’m in awe of people like Foresty who can do it all. Great video!
It was you build your van that got me hooked. Watching your adventures since has been a true joy.
I love your build. It has what you need and I consider that high class.
New Foresty day should be recognized as a holiday.
I’m so happy to hear from you two. Take easy on you speed. Xxxx
This channel does whatever it wants 💅
I think the truck camper combo is a good idea!
Good to have ya back !

My favorite in the van is Rocko. 🤣 You're design is simple but functional. Every little nook has purpose. My favorite kind of build. Suits you.
Hello Rocco! Looking good!!!

Glad you are back, just take it easy, please. We need you here. I wanted to see the cupboards you painted and the sewing machine! Lol❤
He's back! I was beginning to worry we may have lost our legendary youtuber
I agree. Had it all from tent to 40’ diesel motorhome. Now a Cirrus 720. 1835 lbs on a 2500 Chevy HD. Fully self contained! Love it!

i do like that point you made about a camper in the back of a pickup just being able to pop it out .
Yay! You’re back! I missed you!!
It was very interesting to hear your thoughts on your build, especially that you would consider a truck as an alternative.

I've used vans, SUVs and trucks with a full heightcamper but looking at the 4 Wheel and Alu-Camper now. Wayyy lighter is perfect for off road camping
You have amazing technical skills. My single favourite item is your indoor fire, it seems like it adds company as well as free heat and cooktop.
Best wishes.
