I went out there in 1999, not hunting but climbing/hiking (Huron Peak and Wetterhorn Peak and a lower mountain called Lone Pine). It was the hardest physical thing I have ever done in my life and making the summit on those two 14'ers is one of the most gratifying things I've ever done. I'm a Tarheel too but I live in the east and even though I trained for a year before going out there, that terrain kicked my butt but it was worth it from the sights I saw. Great video. Thanks.
Colorado can be tough, I know cause I live in southwestern Colorado. Only around 7-10% of hunters harvest an Elk with a bow. Don't give up, it's awsome just being out in the mountains! Just enjoy it while you're here. An Elk is icing on the cake.We have lots of Elk here but they can go and be anywhere in no time when they get pressure. And the forests and uplands here are like a giant grocery store. Lots of food. Good luck next time!

That's one of my favorite spots in Colorado.
