First, I want to express my gratitude for all the hard work in producing these videos and to the OCLP developers. I am using a MacBook Pro 10,1, and the upgrade from 15.0.1 to 15.1 was far from smooth. I encountered constant failures via System Settings -> Software Upgrade, accompanied by error messages. However, after performing an NVRAM and SMC reset, the issue was resolved, and I was able to proceed with the upgrade. Hope this helps anyone experiencing similar issues
I wasn't sure updating my old mac with opencore and now I have my two old computers running as new with the updates. Currently using Sonoma and after seeing all these hard work from the developers I am motivate to donate. I encourage to others to do the same. It is sad to see some folks take advantage of this work asking money to update the software using opencore in marketplace. I am planning to post my comments on those posts about this free project and to do not ask for money or donate it to who really deserve it.
First install on MacBook Pro 15’ Mid 2015, runs like a charm. Thank you for your great videos, you are my #1 source for the real technical Mac stuff. Keep up the good work!
iMac 27 Late 2013 32gb/2tb loaded 15.1 with no complications. Only problem was getting it to downolad. All Australia must have been doing it at once Thanks again Mr Mac!! 😜😉
Same machine here. Do all categories in the "Find My App" work for you? For me objects don't get updated since 15.1. Other known issues: Safari bookmarks not getting synchronized with iPhone and WhatsApp crashing but this was now resolved in the latest 2.1.0n (beta).
Many thanks for your magnificent effort. Although I had doubts because of the comments I updated my IMac 27’ end 2015 flawlessly. All works great! The other Machine, myMacBook mid 2015, had two little issues (already commented) so my Sony SX 55 Bluetooth speaker is not functioning as well as WhatsApp not working. Both is negligible for the moment. Hope my comments helps our community. Regards from Germany Update: after installing the latest OCLP version 2.1.0 all works fine. WhatsApp included.
Thanks for another super-useful and timely video! Sequoia 15.1 is running fine with OCPL 2.1.0 on this late 2013 iMac with 16gb memory running from an external SSD. I upgraded from 15.0 via System settings though the first time was unsuccessful due to an installation error. I then downloaded the OS again using System settings and the second time worked a charm.
Thank you Mr Macintosh. Successfully updated from 15.0.1 to 15.1 using OCLP 2.0.2 on my MBP 8,1 late 2011. Seems to be slower than 15.0... No real pb faced here except an extreeeemely long waiting time during Post Install Root patching - stuck 20 min on Rebuilding Boot and System Kernel step -. Faced also the greyed Wifi icon as you described in your video but after Restart , all went good.
Thanks for all of your expertise Mr Mac - I have macOS sequoia on my MBP 2015 and my 2014 iMac, both running great apart from the sequoia display graphic, after a few minutes on both machines it turns into a horrible blue and yellow. Does not affect anything other than my desire to have everything perfect so I guess I'm wondering if this is common or is there possibly a fix for it... Many thanks again... Steve
First of all thanks for your amazing work Gary!!! But I have one question! Is Pages and Numbers working on the 27" 2011 iMac?? Because my doesn't work either with this update.... Thanks for everything!
Thank you for another very informative video. The update worked for me without any problems. iMac Retina 4K, 21.5 Zoll, Ende 2015 3,1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200 1536 MB 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 Sequoia 15.1 T TB SD
Just a note that OLCP 2.1.0 has been released. Good thing too because 2.0.2 couldn’t finish writing to a flash drive. It errors out complaining about being unable to bless the drive. So far, 2.1.0 seems to be flashing fine
Ok, I am glad to say all is well from the post I just made below. I shut down Computer again (3rd time) then looked at the rear of computer and checked power cable, ethernet and HDMI port all was good. Looked at front of Computer and noticed there was a USB stick in one of the ports. I removed USB stick, hit power button and Computer fired right up to Sequoia 15.1 All seems good. It seems odd that a USB stick in front of computer would cause this?? Go figure, so glad it all appears good.
MB Pro mid-2012 updated OK. I did experience the Updater Error described around 17:55 in this update video. In my case it was described by the Installer as a missing disk and/or unable to locate the disk for installation. I rebooted each time until the update finished (the disk was renamed each time! just as in this video) so I simply renamed the SSD to remove the data-data-data name. It worked so I am happy. Sequoia 15.1 runs great, thanks to Mr Mac and the OCLP developers.
So I have a Mac Pro 5.1 (still on OCLP 2.0.1 with Mac OS 15.0) and am having the Bluetooth connect issue… It’s the card is a: Apple iMac A1419 27" 2015 Airport/ Bluetooth Card Z653-00005 Sees wireless without issue, initially sees the Bluetooth but then turns off… Will update to OCLP 2.0.2 and 15.1 (when I’m next with the machine as currently away) but wondering if this is the same issue that will follow through even if updating…? Great work!!! Been with Macs since the classic but really getting back into them again! And how well they were Engineered..
Had an issue after installing 15.1 on my MacPro 2013-2019 trashcan. Some apps were getting a red screen and causing computer to run very slow. Stumbled across a fix. Went to settings in the app, and changed appearance from “System” to “Light” or “Dark” Mode. Apps were fine after that!
Thank you for the video. I am not sure if I need the opencore legacy patcher when I have sequoia in a virtual machine installed. An AMD graphics card is passed through as well.
Along with everyone else, my thanks to you and the OLCP team for this service. Much appreciated. However, I have found a (for me) significant issue with the Sequoia releases. I have a 2013 MacPro, 8 Core, AMD 300, 32 GB memory and I have an iCloud account with photos in the cloud. In both 15.0 and 15.1 I am having big problems viewing photos with Preview. Whenever I drag, save or export a photo from Photos to the desktop, or anywhere else, and attempt to open it by double-clicking, at best I get a very delayed opening of the photo in Preview. Preview then hangs. Often it does not even open. Strangely, if I source a photo from elsewhere (sent by email, off the internet), Preview behaves as normal. Something about images from Photos is an anathema to Sequoia Preview on my OCLP Mac. Same photos on my M1 MacBook AIr running 15.0, 15.1 are fine. There was never any problem with OCLP + Sonoma.
Sonoma 14.7.1 updated on MBP 2011 17" via OCLP 2.1 no wifi . Same upgrade on a MBP early 2013 15" no issues. I will try Sequoia about March of 2025. I have done this time line over the past three years and never had any problems until now.
iMac 14,2 OCLP 2.0.2: installer damaged sequoia 15.1. Previously this was attributed to expired certificates and the date on the machine. What’s the fix or the date to set? Installer downloaded via OCLP.
Mr. Macintosh - at 16:31 (An error occured preparing...) the only way I found to correct this was booting in verbose mode. Turn off your Mac Restart your Mac Press and hold Command and V as soon as your Mac starts to boot Continue holding the keys until you see white text on the screen After that, no more errors.
Airplay is missing from my MacBook pro 15inch mid 2014. i have updated to latest mac os 15.1 and latest opencore legacy patcher 2.1.0. can u help regarding this? Airplay settings also missing.
My MacBook Pro 9,1 was running macOS 14.7. When I went to Software Update in System Settings, it took a long time for it to show what updates were available. When I chose the version 14.7.1 update, it wouldn't download it. I decided to use OCLP v2.0.2 to create a USB Flash drive Installer. The update worked with no issues. I went back to Software Update and it showed the Safari v18.1 update. It downloaded and installed it. I have noticed even before the update, that inside of Software Update System Settings, that it would show Automatic Updates and below it would show Beta Updates. I don't know if it's normal to show Beta Updates but I have both turned off. I think I will keep my MacBook Pro at version 14.7.1 since my Mac can't take advantage of Apple Intelligence in macOS 15.
I really appreciate what the OLCP team and you are doing! I experience one issue with my iMac 18,3 with macOS 15.0 and 15. After the macOS update WLAN was not working but Bluetooth. After installing the root patches, WLAN is working but Bluetooth can be enabled anymore. The funny thing is I can enable Bluetooth in the system settings but the menu bar item shows always a not available symbol. I hope somebody of the OLCP team can take care of this issue. Many thanks.
Late 2012 iMac updating from 15.0.1: I prepared a USB installer 'just in case' but then did the update by running the copy of the installer that OCLP left in the Applications folder. Worked fine but the root patches did not automatically re-install and I needed a USB mouse to run OCLP manually to install them. (Wasn't surprised, since that has happened in other updates).
imac 18,3 here. Tried multiple time to install Sonoma with OCLP. ran slow and locked up. Now running Ventura without OCLP. Will wait till Sonoma is finished then try again.
Not working for me on a late 2014 27" iMac, which by the way supports Metal 2: Apple Photomator raw image editing (the app crashes as soon as I try to edit a raw file), Whatsapp, Camo Studio. EDIT: WhatsApp works after updating to version 2.0.2. Photomator still crashes with raw image editing, and Camo Studio still crashes.
I have a question, can I download Sequoia From OCLP, and install that directly in my Ventura 13.6.1 ? I Mean, Without bootable disk; and even without using system setting. Just Download Sequoia 15.1 from OCLP OS List; And Install it on my Macbook Pro 10,2.
The wifi not showing as connected has been present for a long time on several of my macbooks EVEN BEFORE I USED OCLP with them. Its a mac issue not oclp. No idea what the cause is but its a trivial annoyance as it usually *is* connected. It has the flavour of an icon refresh that “misses the boat”.
my model is compatible but i have alreasy used opencore legacy patcher to update my mac to MONTEREY what to do if i would like to get sequoia ?? can just do it in sysptem preferences or i have to boot it again please ???????
Under Disk Utility I have 3 instances of Macintosh HD - Data. The first is APFS Volume Group APFS (Disabled) Then an indented Macintosh HD - Data (Greyed Out) and states, "System Snapshot Mounted" Owner Disabled. Another sub-category underneath this one, Macintosh HD - Data APFS Startup Snapshot APFS..Owners Disabled. And finally, a Macintosh HD - Data - Data. Owners Enabled. My question is, do I need all of these instances? Not sure why I have more than one to begin with. Mid 2012 MBP (9,1) running 15.1 Sequoia via OCLP.
Having a problem with Time Machine restore and Sonoma on MacBookPro 2011. When you get to Destination it will not show any drives. Tried it with restart C+R and also with Migration Assistant both methods have same issue. André in Sydney
Thnks for the job you done!! I update my old iMac 5K late 2014, everything is ok But Whatapp doesn't launch🤕I try to use an old version from time machine, I have the same issue
You and your team do a fantastic job! I have updated my Mac mini 2014 to Sequoia 15.1. This update is causing a few problems for me. Sometimes whenever I right-click, programs crash, (numbers, excel, safari, etc) and I have to restart the Mac, which can also be slow. The other problem I have now is with a dual M2.SSD set up as a raid 1. This worked in 14.7 but I cannot see this Raid1 in finder but I do see it in Disk Utility!? I am using the updated OCLP 2.0.2 and all the patches have been installed. Is anyone else seeing something similar?
I've an unsupported 2017 MacBookPro I updated to 15.1. Everything *except* the Apple mail app seems fine. The mail app has the following strange issue: when I click on an unread message, the little dot that marks the message as unread is not removed, as if the message is still unread. The count indicator in the left-hand side mailbox pane is updated to reflect the messages that have been read, it's just the little dot next to the message in the mailbox pane that isn't updated.

Updated my 2017 27" 5k iMac from 15.01 to 15.1, with only one small issue. Every since Sequoia 15.0, I have to reboot 2x before installing root patches or they fail. I used OCLP to download the installer, and then just click it to install. The download went extremely fast (under 7 minutes)
have unsuccessfully made the 15.0 to 15.1 jump. several attempts but no dice. when the "installation" completes and my 2017 iMac 27 reboots I still have 15.0. I've updated thru system setting/software update three times without success. first time I've had an OLCP update issue of any sort..... Gets to "preparing macOS Sequoia 15.1..... about 35 mins remaining", never completes further on screen, but reboots to 15.0
@@marksoutherland7225 Have you tried creating a USB installer and updating that way? Or as I did, using OCLP to download the installer and just click on it to install. I remember another uTube video by someone else that said using the setting /software upgrade can be troublesome.
I can’t understand or explain why, but the fourth try with the update completed successfully. I have no idea why the first times failed. Thanks for your suggestion. I did consider a USB installer and probably would’ve been my next step had I not had gotten lucky on the fourth time. Thanks for your help!!!!
MBP mid2012 Intel graphics - got the “error occurred preparing” issue… using usb disk created from another Mac .. full install , pulled the usb and rebooted and it completed … with usb in the error reoccurred…. 🤷🏻♂️
First of all, great work to all people making this possible. I do have a weird issue with Opencore and Sequoia (and not on a different machine using Mojave and opencore). When going to a site with Safari and Cloudflare security (click the box to see you're human to continue), it will not get passed it. However in Google Chrome on this same machine, this is working. The problem is related to Safari. I reinstalled several times last test was on a clean install (no extra software, no apple-id connected, ...) and still not working. Are there other people having similar issues? Or am I missing something? its not one site either, all sites using this security, fail. iMac 27" mid 2015 opencore 2.1.2 latest sequoia 15.1 freshly downloaded (no beta) today to re-install Safari only issue (Google Chrome works)
I have updated my MacBook Pro 13 inch early 2013 (10.2) and the only issue is with sequoia the battery status. When connected to the AC-Adaptor, Battery indicator is showing that it is AC-powered but not charging, while the battery setting is telling, that battery is charging. After a while the Battery indicator change to charging. I tried to fix this by resetting the smc, but this did not really help.
Darn, having issues on my 2010 Mac Pro . I had Sequoia 15.0.1 running and all was good. Decided to do the Sequoia 15.1 The Computer went through some odd stuff. First, I am sure I had to have had 2.02 Open Core Installed on this Computer to have Sequoia 15.0.1 Installed. During the process Open Core detected that I was missing or needed to Install whatever the previous version of Open Core was. Wished I would have taken a pic. After a few reboots Open Core stated 2.02 needed to be Installed. I thought what is going on here? Open Core Installed whatever it was thinking. Open Core then stated to reboot so I did. It got all the way to finish line with Sequoia 15.1 Installed. Open Core again wanted to do something so I clicked again it asked to do another reboot. After that when restarting the chime sounds, computer on, monitor on but nothing on screen what so ever . I let computer sit for 30 minutes, nothing on screen, no boot screen. I manually turned Computer off let sit for a bit then hit the power button. Computer chimes, monitor on, no boot screen, just a blank screen. Not sure what to do at this point. I am hoping computer did not get Bricked. Never had a Bricked computer but thinking this is not good. Any advise is welcomed. I will definitely wait to do this on my 2011 MacBook Pro.
I’m having an issue with my 2016 Macbook Pro with touch bar that I just updated to unsupported Sequoia,My Messages app and FaceTime app will not open. Antbody else?
Do you see the password field? If yes try to put the cursor into this position and type in your password. It goes extremely slow by character by character, you just can type in the complete password and press enter. Than wait..and wait. After a longer while it will work.
It's about BT - iphone 15 pro sees macbook pro and macbook doesn't see ipchone. Other devices with android and windows see. Macbook pro 2015 /12.1 macOS Sequoia 15.1
Can someone help me ? I have a 27" iMac mid 2011 tunning high Sierra. I need to upgrade to at least Monterey and cant figure it out. The USB key i have keeps getting error message of it being disconnected. I've been trying to upgrade for 5 days now im running out of options. I tried without usb key but then after reboot it tells me to connect my keyboard and mouse...
I'm not sure where to the blame lies for this, but on an assortment of 2011-2012 MBPs and on my 2011 iMac, when in Sonoma's system settings > software update pane, it was a slow and frustrating drag to get the Sequoia updates to show. This happened at the first, second, and now third rounds in the last month or so. Toggling the switches hardly seemed to matter; it all just took a long time to get a successful "update now" button to show and to actually start things off. I had OCLP 2.0.2 on each so that wasn't the issue. One stubborn MBP in that bunch did not want to actually progress past the first shutdown. It just... shut down. I ended up solving that after a few attempts to start fresh, by logging into Safe Mode with no patches, and then reapplying the patches while in Sonoma/Safe Mode, then going for it again in the system software update pane.
That coincides with the earlier Sonoma software update issues (older versions of oclp at the time had root patching issues as well) I've had with my 2011 macbook pro. Now, I have no issues related to it updating on it's own, through mac os sequoia (15.1)
Maybe theres an Offline 3rd party Ai some macs on intel could run instead but i recently changed out my NVME Sled in the 5,1 and changed my rx560 and it fixed some boot issues and im looking for a mid good card thats like 2018 or later that mabe opencore patcher recommends.. my macbookpro 2012 for basic tasks is still a dream i may even give it a final upgrade to 4TB or even 8Tb hahah. even tho i dont make UT vids anymore
@@ZOWi_tuby yeah. I had to do that before as well. For a non daily driver, I am ok with reinstalling if it means keeping this dinosaur of a macbook alive 😆
With all respect for the work done, x86 is over. With constantly the fan in this video, this is only proof of pudding now, nothing serious in my humble opinion.
Small issues are you kidding it's an absolute disaster. I installed 15.1 RC release candidate an upgraded my studio from Sonoma play SMB Network shares all started crashing my music studio software could not use the aggregate audio device and frankly the whole thing was a disaster and took 3 days to roll back to a time machine backup. How Apple could release this POS in this condition is beyond me proceed at your own risk but I would not touch this.
I have not upgraded to 15.1 but on 15.0.1 having problems unmounting external drive. I was on 15.0.1 on my 12,2 2011 iMac 27" and when I updated to 15.1, Night Shift - which cuts blue colour at night - disappeared. Is this because of OCLP drivers? Or?

I don't know if it's normal to show Beta Updates but I have both turned off. I think I will keep my MacBook Pro at version 14.7.1 since my Mac can't take advantage of Apple Intelligence in macOS 15.
...with. 2.1... I lost the option for extended display from a Macbook M2 to a 2012 iMac. The iMac doesn't show up on the Displays + Menu
Did you downloaded full installer from software update or just the update? Everytime i have to download 10+ GB i don’t know how to solve
@@Risyco I let OCLP download the installer - which is pretty big.
imac 18,3 here.
Works super good in Late 2015 iMac
I have a question, can I download Sequoia From OCLP, and install that directly in my Ventura 13.6.1 ?
I Mean, Without bootable disk; and even without using system setting.
Just Download Sequoia 15.1 from OCLP OS List; And Install it on my Macbook Pro 10,2.
Would you advise me to go from MLOC to LOC 2.02 with my Mac Pro 5.1 (mid) 2010 ?
iMac 14,2 2013 27in. Mostly works ok. No continuity camera and wont load the Sequoia dynamic wallpaper, just a blue screen.
I upgraded to 15.1 but I do not see the new apple intelligence option in this OS. Is there a bug in the new build/patches?
Dear sir please help me my mac only once sound than not sound on mac please help me
Does it cover the Mac Pro 5.1 mid 2010 ?
Thnks for the job you done!!
I update my old iMac 5K late 2014, everything is ok
But Whatapp doesn't launch🤕I try to use an old version from time machine, I have the same issue
all working fine with OCLP 2.1.0 with Post-Install Root Patch!!!
MacBook Pro Mid 2012 to 15.1. The only issue I have is that the dictation function still won't work for me. Any ideas?
MacBookPro, Retina, 13 inch Late 2013, 11,1., Dual-Core Intel Core i7, 2.8 GHz 16MB DDR3 WITH 1TB SSD (WITH KDK D/L). No crashes during install. Working but with increased CPU Temp when running UA-cam vids. Single fan running at 4k, rpm. CPU core average 56C. WIFI FIX with a click is working. Bluetooth no issues. Many thanks.
My 2011 macbook pro, with PTM7950, always gets up to 93 degrees C when I'm doing heavy work (downloading mac os firmwares counts for me)
Updated my 2017 27" 5k iMac from 15.01 to 15.1, with only one small issue.
@@marksoutherland7225 Excellent!

Or am I missing something? its not one site either, all sites using this security, fail.
iMac 27" mid 2015
opencore 2.1.2
latest sequoia 15.1 freshly downloaded (no beta) today to re-install
Safari only issue (Google Chrome works)
I'm on a late 2012 27 inch iMac with Sonoma 14.6 without problem. Can i update to Sequoia 15.1 through System update? The kdk is installed already.
the installer has to be prepped for the specific hardware or it fails, i had this the other day with a 10,1 imac
Hello, I end up without OS laptop can you plz help me. I am using MacBook first time and recently bought used one but now it’s stopped working.
Yes please Test An error occurred Preparing Because I got the same message not only with Sequoia but also trying to install the lates Ventura 13.7.
Darn, having issues on my 2010 Mac Pro . I had Sequoia 15.0.1 running and all was good. Decided to do
the Sequoia 15.1 The Computer went through some odd stuff.
I ran into the Screen Sharing issue (black); IIRC it is also not working w/ Sonoma (?)
All running good except Bluetooth is not working on my MacBook Pro 2015. My Mac Pro 6.1 is running perfectly fine.
Root patches ?
MacBook Pro 2012 after the finished update turns on and off and won't let me enter or enter a password. Solution, please help me
Do you see the password field? If yes try to put the cursor into this position and type in your password. It goes extremely slow by character by character, you just can type in the complete password and press enter. Than wait..and wait. After a longer while it will work.
I stuck with keyboard and mouse after installing Seqoia with old iMac.
Could anyone help please.
I updated from 15.01 and everything works fine on my mid 2012 MBP except for the Whatsapp desktop app.

Is it advisable to update OCLP to the latest version on SONOMA even as I don't plan on installing Soquoia?
Facetime Camera not working, even Audio Call Droping
MacBook Air 1466 2017 13"
The XpostFacto but for 21st century Macs ;)

No problems on Mac Mini 2014, a little slower than Sonoma but runs fine
Don’t know why people go to this updates you cant run the games, apps, etc with intel
In Terminal I get this result trying a Terminal command unmount >>. test@fmHMac ~ % diskutil unmount disk2s2

I am kind of lost figuring out what to do?
I was on 15.0.1 on my 12,2 2011 iMac 27" and when I updated to 15.1, Night Shift - which cuts blue colour at night - disappeared. Is this because of OCLP drivers? Or?
