This movie is truly a sad story, a tragedy. Seeing your mate get killed like that is horrifying. The male whale was very angry and motivated to get Nolan and his crew. Same with Nolan, he didn't want to catch a female nor did he want to kill a whale. He also got super angry after the whale kept killing his crew. Both have motivations.
One movie where you have more sympathy for the animal than the people involved. Nolan wasn't a bad evil person and he felt terrible afterwards for what happened which was accidental anyway.

An Ennio Morricone music soundtrack is reason enough to see a movie. I appreciate what the filmmakers with ORCA were trying to achieve, a JAWS inspired, emotional and sensitive film incorporating a poignant message concerning the preservation of ocean wildlife. Morricone's subliminal, captivating and melancholic music complements the effort tremendously. On an added note, I believe Sergio Leone's "spaghetti western, Eastwood trilogy and Once Upon a Time in the West would not have been considered among the greatest westerns ever made, if not for the significant contribution of Morricone in providing the films' excellent, timeless music soundtracks. Thank you Mr. Morricone and please enjoy your well-deserved place in Heaven.

I love this theme I have told my oldest son I want this team played at my funeral I have loved this theme song from the moment I heard it it's unforgettable it stirs something inside me everytime I hear
I remember this movie as a child, I have happened to see it again recently, it is really touching and the music of the great Morricone has made this film one of the best ones I've ever seen.
What's so stunning about this film, and the music, is that it all makes you root for the orca, who's like, the villain. He's an antihero. You don't even feel bad when he kills innocent humans, because his wife and child were innocent too. It's just so god damned understandable, and it's a fucking bewitching whale, lmao
When I saw the movie , I was rooting for the whale. As an 11-year old girl, I cried so much watching the movie. Now as an adult, I still have the same reaction. No to captivity!
To be fair he only killed or maimed those that harmed his family. And he did threaten the livelihoods of the fishermen when he ran the fish off and sank their boats. I think everyone was rooting for the whale. The music made this movies. It got you right in the feels!
You got a point right there. This is my belief in this film - Nolan and his crew venture into the sea to catch a male killer whale and present him to the local aquarium, but instead he misses the male and hits his mate with a harpoon. The female then tries to ram the ship but somehow hits the ship's propellers. The crew then tries to rescue the female but unfortunately to no avail - and on top of that the female loses her fetus. And while all this is going on, the male killer whale is in a state of shock - and then in a state of madness and vengeance. In my point of view Nolan should never have ventured into the sea to catch any killer whale in the wild. And to kill his mate like that - we moviegoers were indeed rooting for the whale even as he kills innocent people. I do believe that when something like this happens, all of humanity is at fault and not just the people that did the deed. So when the whale kills some innocent people in Orca the Killer Whale, it is the result of us humans who are at fault in the matter of catching a creature in the wild.
I was just a child when this movie came out. Never heard of Ennio Morricone but this movie, which I considered to be a flop of a movie along with many others believing the same, has NEVER left my mind in 48 years because of this hauntingly beautiful master piece of a title score. To Me it has NO EQUAL. Even Titantic's "My Heart Will Go On" holds no candle to this theme in my mind. It did win best original score in 1977 and in Googling it, I see it has been named into the top 100 movie themes of all time by the American Film Institue. I've never had the heart to watch this movie more than twice because each time I get to the scene of the happy and soon to be destroyed Orca family swimming together, while this theme is playing, makes me sob like a baby. I won't do it to myself.

dega723 orca
A haunting theme that stays with you. I remember my parents taking me to see this film.
throat choker,heart cutter,this song,thats truly PAIN.love it
I saw the movie for the very first time on a rerun in 2003... I cried... Saw it again on Paramount Channel... I still cry... i do not understand why this movie is often compared to JAWS... Yes there are some common points (the music when the orca atacks the boats and the city) but it is not the same story... I still cry when I see it... Great and sad movie, RIP Richard HARRIS and Ennio MORRICONE... Regards from France... Patrick
EPIC, Morricone, Zimmer, Poledouris = Gods Hands of OST.
beautifil song ever
One of the Morricone's soundtrack that i loved , the most...goodbye Maestro
I love this theme I have told my oldest son I want this team played at my funeral I have loved this theme song from the moment I heard it it's unforgettable it stirs something inside me everytime I hear
I remember this movie as a child, I have happened to see it again recently, it is really touching and the music of the great Morricone has made this film one of the best ones I've ever seen.
Just listen....the string instruments
😌🎻🎶 so beautiful. There is victory and sorrow in this masterpiece.
The whale ain't the villain, there are no villains, it is meant to give us a clear message. It is supposed to show us the meaning of vengeance.

The film focuses on the meaning of vengeance.
Saw the movie as a child about 40 years ago and knew there was something special about the score. Only now did I learn it was composed by the great Ennio Moricone!
Hermosa y triste melodía del maestro Ennio Morricone. Descansa en paz. / Beautiful and sad melody from Maestro Ennio Morricone. Rest In Peace.
This Song was made just for them, and the spirit of the warriors that keep fighting for freedom. For as long as the sun keeps rising and setting their memory will never die.
Ce film ma beaucoup marqué
Surtout la musique
Orca and Silent Running.
Two films that certainly played major roles in the person I am today.
silent running the film of 1972???
@@marvinsilverman4394 Yep with Bruce Dern and the little robots. To the very young, earth-conscious child that I was, it hit very hard. Later as a teen, my best friend(still this day) would tease me about my "space hippie" movie hahahah.
Music that touches the heart.
One of the cheesiest and yet most poignant movies ever. I'm glad Morricone wrote the music. Fantastic.
Finally someone he speaks sense....! Your absolutely right.
Curso tu vida.
Haunting. One of the most beautiful and sad scenes I have ever seen in a movie. The music grips your heart.
