I’m currently 8 months into my transition and it’s been braids and cornrows that have really helped me!
I wish I knew more about protective styling when I was transitioning 🤣 I never would’ve big chopped if I did 😭
Same here protective styling has grew soo much when I do protective styles I get the spray leave In’s sealing oils and scalp massages and always use a bonnet
@@nijhaw2118 how long do you leave your braids in?
@@Nikky10000 usually a month with box braids with regular washing
@@nijhaw2118 washing every 2 weeks? Using what? Also thank u so much for advice
I put essential oils (peppermint, tea tree and rosemary) in my oils and my scalp feels amazing. I look forward to oiling my scalp. I smell like the woods 😂 but it feels great! 🤣
“I smell like the woods”🤣🤣🤣
Not the woods 🤣😂
🤣 The woods...I love How nature smells so yr good. Peppermint is Amazing for hair. I'm about to experiment with Lavender, Peppermint Essential oils in Jojoba Oil. So Excited! 💛
Wood 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love nature. Makes me feel grounded. It definitely feels great on the scalp!! Something about less is more. Just the essentials= Happy Natural ☺️
On the 9th I'll be on week 4 of having my crochet braids in and my new growth is crazy. I plan on leaving them for another month. I spray my scalp with warm to hot water than apply my ayurvedic growth oil that way my pores are open receiving all the goodness. I do this 2-3 times a week. My hair is growing fast. I love it
Yay thank you for sharing!!!

What’s in your Ayurvedic oil???
@@charitynyawech3372 coconut oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, avocado oil, apricot oil, mango butter, fenugreek seeds, dried minced onion, alma, hibiscus, bhrami, bhringraj, neem, aloe vera powders. Olive oil will work great too if your hair doesn't like coconut oil. Ground coffee is also good to add.

Hey Amber! Hope all is well with you ❤ I braided my hair yesterday. You: don't put your hair in a bun too early.... me: taking my bun out 😂😂 Great tips though ❤
🤣🤣🙌🏾 Yes! Take that bun out boo!
I did a half up half down. But the part up is very loose. I used one SwirlyCurly Snappe and I didnt even loop it so it is very loose. Is that ok? Becuz my hair needs to be out of the way when I go to the restroom
I pretty much never protective style these days but still watching to support our cousin!

Miracle drops
So after seeing the video I’m a cousin . Love your transparency ❤️❤️❤️ so Currently I Have box braids in and I’ve been spraying my scalp and braids with Fenugreek seeds and black seed soaked in aloe Vera juice and the oil I use is my Ayurvedic Hair Growth Elixir and then I use a grease mixture ( sulphur 8, doo gro, Wild Growth Oil, JBCO and virgin hair fertilizer) then I cover with a Satin bonnet. After 3 weeks I’ve got 1” of Growth 💁🏾♀️ oh and I wash my hair with Shikakai & Aritha soaked in rosemary leaves.
I use the sulfur 8 concoction too
Braided my hair yesterday ..
Hey cousin how often do we have to do this routine with plaits in? xx
Hey cousin!! This is exactly what I need. I brought some hair like two weeks ago 😒 Not if I could only sit down and actually install the braids.
You got this!
Hey cuz amber have tried girl and hair products its made for protective styling. I found out about it from faye in the city.
I love Faye, I went to Target to purchase the Girl + Hair, but that location no longer carries it. I wasn’t too upset though, because that price really ain’t what I do lol
I haven't tried that brand yet but I've heard good things so I'll def stay on the look out for it when I'm out shopping!
that GIF tho 🤣
Is Rose Water considered a moisturizing spray?
Hi cuz I'm new. Wow fantastic tips can you show/advise me how to do edge's I'm trying to wear braids and edges are weak. My hair is like a 4a no gels seem to work 😭end up with afro halo every time 🤪
Hi cousin! Check my channel. I have a few videos on my edges, actually 👌🏾🌻
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
My hair was just a length I wanted it until I cut it and now I'm not satisfied with it what should I do?😭🤔🤔
Your birads look good
How can i make a diy moisture spray?
I subscribed months ago but I have not seen any of your videos in my sub box or recommended for some reason
I currently have in knotless braids and I kinda regret not moisturizing my hair before the installation and the stylist used heat so my hair is dry af 😭
😩😩 I would be annoyed too! But the good news is you can still moisturize your hair while in the braids! Don't get discouraged! You got this! 🙌🏾
I don't know why that cough was so funny to me maybe it was how you curled your fingers like you were smoking a blunt lmao
I've braided my hair for a
7 months. Planning to remove it in January...
How often are you redoing your braids?
Update?
I'm 14 and I've decided to go natural without the big chop my hair has been growing recently and I just want to be able to do it better. I've stopped relaxing my hair for maybe more than 3 years or so my hair is currently just above my shoulders. My hair is very thin and I hate it I don't have the right products and I'm working on getting the proper products. For my hair I'm ready for my hair journey
hey! any updates?
Updates
Updates for people my hair is now passed my shoulders and very long and not so thick but like medium I didn’t do a BIG CHOP I let my hair grow by taking care of it and I will cut off the relaxed bits I’m very happy ask me if u want to ask any questions 😘
Thanks for the tips...do you clean or wash your braids? Or do you just wear them until it is time to take them down? The reason I ask is due to the frizz when I wash them.
I prefer grease on my scalp, so do I just re-moisturize then seal? Or should I wash out due to the build up of grease?
I personally don't wash my braids unless I've swam in ocean water or a swimming pool between installations. Dry shampoo works well for light build up on braids if it's something you're concerned about but I personally use grease about once a week too and I don't experience any issues ❤️
@@FinallyAmber Thank you for your reply. I have tried using ACV awhile back, when I was experiencing very dry scalp, and it did not work out well. Perhaps I did not use it correctly b/c my ACV rinse out works great!
I have less dandruff, but my scalp is a little itchy from products...I am okay. It is not intense. I may dilute my Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap and spray on my scalp.
I had a question. I have been wearing braids for years constantly with the only time I take them down being when I am washing it before getting my hair rebraided the next day. The braids or not tight or anything. Is it okay to do that, or should I leave my hair unbraided for a couple of weeks before getting it rebraided?
After you take down your Braids you should take a break for 1-2 weeks before you rebraid your hair again. It is not good to rebraid your hair directly after you take the Braids down. Because it is not healthy for your scalp, strains the hair and is also a pressure on the hair.
@@rhodacm97 Thank you for the reply. it is quite interesting that I have not heard anyone mention this. It was something I just started to become curious with. That has me wondering, though. What about people with what some call dreadlocks? Those are permanent, are they not?
@@Gabe_Cross You welcome. I actually do not know about that, how they do that. I never had Dreadlocks on me. Maybe on UA-cam their is a Video about that 🤷🏾♀️
@@Gabe_Cross Dreadlocks are not being taken down and reinstalled throughout the year. They grow directly out of the scalp so there's very little manipulation, pulling and tugging at the scalp. Braids are completely different!
@@sayitloudblcknproud True, they are different, but they are similar in some ways. They both have “locks” in which hair strands are grouped together. It is true that locks are not taken down, but hair is still being grouped together for dreadlocks each time new hair has grown a certain length. While locks win out in number of times the hair is manipulated, one thing about locks I feel is more of a concern is the possibility to apply more of a constant strain to the scalp. With locks, they usually hang from the scalp from a smaller surface area, while braids usually lay along the scalp for the most part.
Should i spray water on my scalp everyday (with braids)?
I wouldnt say every day. Just as needed. In the video I think I said something like “every other day” but honestly only you know your hair so you kind of have to gauge it for yourself 👌🏾
What is the spray you are using?
African Pride Braid Spray
Hey Cousin!!!!
Hey cuz! Thanks for watching!
How do u protect ur edges from being affected
Be sure you’re braids are not installed too tightly, every single strand of your edges doesn’t need to be braided, don’t pull them up or back too soon after getting them done and when you start styling them up or back, don’t do it the same direction a lot. Keep your edges moisturized. Sleep with a silk or satin scarf to keep your braids in place rather than pulling and all over the place. Hope this helps
Can you use pure butter as a sealant? Please reply anyone
Use mielle rosemary and biotin oil I noticed my hair grew so fast when I used it
🌻🤗🥰😘✔📝
God bless😐
Bless your heart as well.
*🌹Your teeth are beautiful. No matter what I do mine stay an off white color 🥴*
Get a professional whitening treatment. My dentist said some ppl have a natural off white color just like natural hair color. Not all teeth are the same white but it's not a bad thing.
