Greetings from Canada. I have had my new 300x for 4 months and I must say its a great motorcycle. It can be ridden at its limits not to many other bikes can. I have had the 1000's, 750's, 650's, 500 two stroker and a few other bikes, but after riding the Versys 300x at my age 59 it is perfect, ride safe and stay well (subscribed)

I bought a 2019 for my 59th birthday in June. Couldn't be happier. 50/50 tires make it an ideal adventure bike for dirt roads and light trails in the woods.

I'm also "old" 73, and on my third year of the X300. I also have two other bikes (dirt bike and a Vstrom 650 XT) but I still ride the X300 often, esp. as a commuter (over 70 mph). You are so right about the weight, very flickable, and so easy to ride. And, surprisingly, a joy in the twisties. I also ride some mountain passes, Jeep trails and forest roads. One I got used to the high rev range, I even like it more!
Thanks for a great vid! - GeezerWheels, in SW Colorado.

I just traded my Kawasaki X300 in on a Royal Enfield Int650, so that was a move away from the dirt back to pavement. But I am still a huge fan of the X300. I would definitely buy another X300. I made the switch because with 10k miles on it, it was starting to need work and I was ready to experience something new. Still a fan though.

Stock tires are lame off road otherwise great bike. Got the same bike (2019) non abs. I can leave the house in the morning for a short ride and end up being gone all day. The 300x is my 22nd bike in 50 years of riding. Lots of dirt roads in the mountains and deserts of California. The Verseys is a great bike for exploring. The gas milage is excellent.

Sweet bike, and I know just what you mean. I had an FJR and I had a Ninja 250. I felt like a hero revving to 14k on that little Ninja, while not even speeding.
On the FJR, two shifts and I was going >85 mph.
I got a ticket the second day of FJR ownership with my wife on the back; unmarked cop in an old Chevy Corsica.

the x300 is a nice moto, I'm at almost 4000 miles on mine, but I only added a Givi 30L box and a phone mount. The manual says not for "off road" but fine for dirt roads. So, not supposed to be out rock hopping or trialing, but fun to ride. *my third moto.

I can relate to a lot of what you said. I just got the 2023 300, so I am still breaking it in. Being close to 60, and having ridden so pretty fast bikes, this one seems dinky. However, that was what led me to it. Actually went to pick up a KLRs, but what I really wanted was a 2 cylinder bike that was capable of highway driving, but light enough to pick up if necessary. Saw this, and went back home to think about it. Didn’t want to impulse buy. Seems to rev a lot at 65, but hopefully break-in will help. I have a 1250 bandit that just wants to run fast. Drives me nuts having to go 25 for miles through town, then get on the highway behind slow pokes. The Versys is happy putting along, and getting 80mpg is kind of sweet too!

Yeah, they denied the claim because it’s a tire. You rent the motorcycle, it gets wear on a disposable part.
Did he abuse your bike? Yes. Are you a fool for thinking you can charge for a consumable part? Yes.
“Duuuude what do you want me to do” says it all. You need to vet your renters better and stop making erroneous insurance claims

This bike always made me feel great sitting on it. It has a real presence at a stop light belying its small displacement. I did finally trade it in because, for me, I wanted a bike that would rip off from a stop, and with this bike you really need to wring its neck to get that effect. If that one feature doesn’t matter to you, this may be the perfect motorcycle.

Thank you for this video. I’ve been getting advice not to get anything less than 750 cc for my first ever motorcycle. I want something highway capable that I can also use for light off-roading. I like how light this bike is. This video gives me a different perspective than what he says. I think this bike just shot to the top of my list of motorcycle to consider.

Very cool. I also like the Honda CB500X. A bit more power but 40-50 pounds heavier if you drop it. Small bikes are great for beginner or advanced riders. And they retain a good chunk of their value, especially if you buy low-mileage used. That way you can get most of your money back when you’re ready to try something else.

Love mine too mate, just setting up for a lap of Australia. I agree around CC size, I've had 900, 750, 650, 440, 250 and the 300cc in this is adequate. I've really overlooked 300cc to 650cc range, there are great bikes out there. I put 15 tooth front sprocket on and it will be perfect for a big lap of Australia with that slightly taller gearing.

I had the FJR. Always speed up to 120. The strange thing was that if I went slower my back was hurting.
I was lucky enough to never get a ticket.
Had to sell it because I used it a lot with a pillion and had a terrible on-off.
Every time I changed the gears our helmets would bump each other. It was a 2007 model, known to have that issue.
Anyway I am now looking to get the 300 Versys but I'm afraid to loose all the power that I had ( it was intoxicating) But after I sat on a 300 on a dealer I was surprised at how light it is, especially coming from the mighty FJR.

    • @QuentinsMotoVlog
      @QuentinsMotoVlog  2 роки тому +1

Just saw this comment, thanks. Yes, a big power difference between the X300 and the FJR. The light weight of the X300 sells it for me but I do have to ring it out for acceleration. I also like the 2019 or newer Honda CB500X. Very similar to X300 but a good deal more go. I’m thinking of going back to a newer CB500X with the 19” front wheel but I’m going to hang onto the Kawi for a while.

I really enjoyed my X300 but ended up trading it in on a Royal Enfield Int650 which even better suits the way I like to ride. My main issue with the X300 was the lack of torque while street riding, plus the bike’s rear sprocket became bent somehow, a problem I misdiagnosed as a problem with the chain. Also, I could not afford to keep three motorcycles. I kept my Kawasaki Vaquero for rides with my wife and to rent it out on Ridershare and TwistedRoad. I loved the seating position on the X300 and enjoyed the low first gear for exploring off road. But ultimately I wanted something faster on the road that still can bomb down a dirt road. The Royal Enfield is as close to perfect for my riding style as I’ve yet to find.

The cop was upset that I was weaving in and out of traffic and he couldn't. The judge asked me, 'Why careless driving? ' and that's what I told him. I said, ' No one honked their horn, flashed their lights, or flipped me off, so I don't know what his problem was. I'm not here on a speeding ticket. Those I admit to and pay.'
