    I love the continuing saga of the Skillshare guy.That cathedral-style dice box has got me thinking of ways to make a stained glass style dice box. Maybe like cold cast with black mica powder and try a transparent base with a few different color swirls? I don’t know but either way everything looks amazing as usual

    • @Rybonator
      @Rybonator  3 роки тому +33

      You could paint a pattern in the mold with some black resin, let it dry, and then fill in the other colors with mica powder for a pretty rad effect before pouring resin :D
      Also I'm glad that the skillshare guy bits aren't just funny to me xD

    • @fableagain
      @fableagain 3 роки тому +1

      @@Rybonator wouldn't the first layer of resin pull off from the mold walls when you fill it with clear resin? Maybe there's a way to do this with inserts, though the only way I can think of would only work in a horizontal plane: make the "coloured glass" parts first, lay them down and pour in the resin that acts as the metal in stained glass. Oh, or maybe you could make a mold of just the metal part (like a frame), cure that first and then add the coloured parts? That way you wouldn't have to make inserts. Plus with inserts you need to line everything up perfectly and hope nothing shifts but that wouldn't be a problem with this second option.

    Inking with Leadbelcher works so well with these dice. I would have leaned towards Iron Warriors had I made them myself, since it's my personal favorite dark metal, but it tends to read more like carbon fiber. This really looks iron-y.

If I ever make something like this, I may have to use that technique. Oh gosh, what class would I do like this? I'm not entirely sure. I haven't been in a lot of campaigns, and most of them get cancelled, but for one of them, I played a cleric who was a triton named Tito Devon. I can totally see the pillar look being turned into watery geysers in his shade of blue, maybe with some bubbles or pearls thrown in to look like his floating prayer bead weapon. And the ectoplasm look lends itself very well to a water-bending vibe, which I really dig.

    You should consider double-inking dice: where you ink one color on transparent or semitransparent dice, so that color will show through and bounce around, and then a second layer on top to be visible from the outside. I had some transparent rainbowy dice that were inked silver, which i inked dark blue on too of that. It was very shimmery inside and still totally legible since there wasnt the numbers on the opposite side competing with the top faces

    i bet if you used a super clear blue base with white/very pale blue swirls this would be great for a Fathomless Warlock, Ocean/Arctic Druid, or otherwise water-themed character, because it'd look like light refracting off waves like the bottom of a pool

    Hey I'm getting into dice making, and I was watching some of your tutorials and am very exited to start making some. I've been watching you for a while, but I'm now finally taking action. I was just wondering since I don't have a pressure pot/vacuum chamber what would be the best silicone for making some? Since you said I shouldn't use clear resin what would it look like if I did? And finally if I wanted to make a full die of food, would I have to sacrifice a surface or could I make one like a sprue mold. Sorry I have to try and reach out in the comments, but nothing I was looking up answered my questions like you would know.

    I really think with that "ectoplasmic " effect you get some necromancer dice out. Well, necromancer but make it ghostbuster. Clear dice, uv/glow in the dark green goo and red numbers on the dice.

    I have a question.
    I recently started making dice, unfortunately I found the wish molds before seeing your videos. I do not plan on selling, so I figure I can learn from them like you said.
    So here is the question, I have made 2 complete sets and 2 partial sets with these molds. All turned out okay, minus the mistakes (aka the partials) my 5th set came out weird. 1 complete set and the partials used art n glo, the other complete set and the weird set used unokki resin. Best I can describe the weird set is that they looked hammered. I used the same molds, cleaned them, let them dry for a few days, both sets used brushed mica powder, and both sets were pressure potted at 40 psi for 18 hours. I dunno why this happened. Do you have any ideas? I generally follow your methods, and it worked several times.
    I do not have Instagram or twitter, so this is my best medium

    Could you do more inking tutorials? I would love to see more takes on like a two tone ink or trying effects inside the numbers (like a lightning effect or wispy accents). Maybe just some different outer edge coloring maybe. Just another layer to already fabulous dice.

      Just a couple ideas: Do you have glow in the dark inks? Maybe some inner resin wisps with number outlines. Redo the lightning dice (I like those. Did you have a link to them or the molds?) with some inner lightning bolts and static effect inking. Finally, maybe some like…bedrock dice (Cracked effects and then like a two tone inking?)

    • @ztsnyder
      @ztsnyder 3 роки тому +1

      Also, I guess another request. Have you found a good way to do…explosion clouds for lack of a better term? Maybe just clouds in general? I just started my dice making adventure (thank you for that by the way! Using a lot of your tips to start out. Currently have some cap molds setting up in tin based as my platinum based never did) and I have tons of ideas for dice. One was a sunset theme with clouds and I haven’t found a good video on it. Would you use that putty stuff you used for the waves for the wave dice?
