I bought a pair of these used for $50 when I was banished from my main gaming system by wife and daughter and made to use a laptop on the dining room table LOL. A few months ago I bought the Cooler Master MH 751 and in most cases I like the Alpha's better, they have a deeper low end even though overall the sound of the Cooler Masters are clearer and a bit more open. Something about the Alpha sound is just punchier and more in your face like being near the speakers at a rock or dance music concert, while the Cooler Masters sound like you are sitting in the luxury box on the second level listening to a classical orchestra.

@@Ibrahim-wn9sr You can't go wrong with either, both are excellent. I can say that the bass in the Hyper X Alpha is better for the reason that it's controlled and you can more easily discern it, and they have a slightly more exciting sound signature. The MH 751 are immensely comfortable and sound very refined, but with less bass.
I can't say one is better than the other since they are different headphones but if you want punchier sound and tight, controlled bass, Hyper X Alpha. If you want comfort and refined sound (think of how Bose QuietComfort 35 ii's sound), get MH 751.

I have used the HyperX Cloud II headphones and my impressions of the sound are that they are not too bad, the highs can get a bit harsh though, i think that they seem to pick up details in music quite well, bass is acceptable. The only thing i would do is too tame the treble a bit because it is too lively. For being closed headphones and especially gaming headphones they are great in my opinion. I would still rather play games and listen to music with other headphones as you really don’t need to have gaming headphones to get good sound for games, regular hifi headphones are definetly better sounding, the only thing they don’t have is 7.1 surround functions but to me that’s useless. A good pair of hifi headphones is still my choice over these even though they probably are one of the best sounding gaming headphones

I love the Hyper X Cloud Stinger's, the $50 set. I got from 2 years ago as a random gift, they've held up, they're light and the 50mm drivers place me in some crazy space for gaming that I love. I also love listening to music on them, they sound way better than my Sennheiser HD280 Pro's (first gen) I got from like 2005. I just think they have low end unlike the sennheiser's which have none. I've been way out of the game with headphones shit, I have some SHURE E2's from like 2003 and some Klipsch S4's from 2008, and then the S9+ AKG's .. I'm looking at upgrading.. kinda getting tired of them all, except the Klipsch and the Cloud Stinger.

Zeos, it wasn't HyperX who did the originals here. The first iteration of the HyperX Cloud is the only one that came with the appropriate Qpad co-branding. The HyperX Clouds were literally a re-branded and coloured Qpad QH-90. Qpad also has an open back version, the QH-85. Qpad also had a higher end model, the QH-1339, which they made in collaboration with Beyerdynamic, the headset even had Beyerdynamic branding. Back in the day, I used to see people confused about that, claiming that the HyperX Clouds were a rebranded Beyerdynamic headphone.
Since then, HyperX has kept making small tweaks to the design, and the Alpha, in my opinion, is evolved far enough to be considered its own headset. But let's not forget the lineage where it came from, especially since Qpad is a far, far smaller Swedish company than god damn Kingston.

Nice video. I was wondering if you would say anything about the crosstalk issues this headset has. The microphone picks up any sound on the pc.
I thought you were going to give some recommendation like using v-moda boompro to see if that resolves the crosstalk issues. Or some advice or tips to solve it.
I also thought if you were going to consider the fact that this headset for lots of people are really uncomfortable. There is a common mod people do on this headset that is buying brainwavz earpads and install them to fix comfort issues. Would've been great to also hear how that could change the sound.

Cloud, cloud core, cloud 2, cloud silver, cloudx are all based on the takstar pro 80. The ps4 edition is a cute down pro 80.
The cloud alpha isn't a rebranded pro 80, the alpha is there own design and own driver. Yes they did just tune the driver to be a more bassy pro 80. But at its core it's there's and tuned by them. Imo the alpha sounds worse and is worse than the old pro 80/cloud line considering its price.

Some minor corrections, Kingston aka HyperX didn't go to china to get proper headphones rebranded, a swedish company called QPad did(You can still see there logo on there micophone).
They also did the same with the DT 770s. Kingston rebranded the Qpad qh 90 over to the headphones most people knows as the Kingston Clouds.
Which is why i've been skeptical to the Kingstons Alphas - which is advertised with this double chamber bullshit, which i assume have nothing to do with QPad.

+ To add, i own Kingston Alphas as well. Friend owns Cloud 1's. Cloud 1's with pleather pads sound quite alike to Alphas in sound signature, except C1's are more V-shaped. Also if the C1's are with the velours, then i definitely prefer the Alphas, the treble is unbearable for music with those and pleather vs pleather, still Alphas easily. Alphas are like Cloud 1's with pleathers, but more refined, with more accurate treble, even though it's not as forward. Disregarding the comparison to C1's, Alphas have a clear bass emphasis, but it still sounds quite good with mids and treble for a gaming headset.

And in continuing with annoying naming/model choice, the current production Alpha (at least the one with the USB dongle, Alpha Z maybe?) seems to be yet a different design, with physical bass level sliders on each cup (vents) and a dual chamber driver arrangement(and I assume different drivers to fit them). I bet they are based off some other cans too. The ones in this review I imagine are pretty much Cloud II with some cosmetic updates, but that's just a guess. The late 2020 Alpha are pretty competent, the bass slider works better than I'd have expected, same build quality though they are noticeably cost cutting over the Cloud II in a few places, mostly aesthetic like the stitched logo on the headband, the spare earcups being cloth instead of velour, no port cover for the mic when not installed, cheaper carrying bag, bs like that. They do have an all black edition available now that can pass for non-gaming with the mic removed. And, don't take this as gospel but I swear I don't think the mic is as good as on the Cloud II.

I got a pair on black friday. Great sound. But small ear cups and not enough headband adjustment if you have a larger head. If you don't like feeling the ear cups on your ears you won't have enough room in these. Hated to return them, but sounding good doesn't matter when you're feeling uncomfortable every few minutes with them on.

    • @bonka_mann
      @bonka_mann 5 років тому

Also I had the Cloud 9 pair that already had the updated pads, so when I say uncomfortable I'm not talking about the issue where you could feel the driver on your ear with the original pads that were too thin. Just that the inside dimensions of the opening is too small if you have larger ears.

I think your in a unique position to be able to try out a stupid amount of high end cans in a short period of time to see which are the best. As a siege player, its highly contested between steelseries, senn, and afew other brands for high level play and I would love your input.

    • @bowlplatt

I think that for footsteps, you’d aim for headphones with good highs, a reduced low-end, and/or be accurate. I have AD1000X’s myself, and in counter strike (when compared to hyperX cloud 2s) I noticed footsteps much more.

I strongly advise Cloud Alpha owners to change their stock cables. I' ve changed it with a 5 dollar cable and I can feel the difference. However, the Hyperx Cloud Alpha is a better gaming headset for everything else.
