I have friends & family who live in Newport. We've always heard the stories, but I never heard it explained. Also, my Grandfather used to take us through the woods behind his home & show us an abandoned cemetery. That land was also re-developed into a subdivision. It's about 20 min from Newport, but we've never heard any stories.
I read a book called The Black Hope Horror back when I was in high school. It was about the Curse of the Black Hope Cemetery and it's from the Williams' side of the story but it does explain what happened to their neighbors too, including the ones who wanted the pool. It still remains one of the scariest books I've ever read. I highly recommend it.
do have to wonder hearing the Mann story again, could it have been carbon minoxide poisoning? the haunting did seem to come out of no where, everyone having headaches, hearing things, heavy feeling, etc..
About the first story, thank God for the young woman’s ghost and to her mom who took seriously the apparition of her daughter, to get arrested and charged the husband of that poor young lady. By doing so, they most probably saved the live of other women.
Poppet's Way activity is the story used to develop the movie Poltergeist. Many years ago I went to a going away party for a friend's friend. I overheard the woman who owned the home talk about the poltergeist activity, mostly stuff disappearing and reappearing at a later time. I was told where we were and it didn't mean much until they told me the back story. The house is at 14:57 and is to the left of the dead end barricade. She said at night you could see shadow figures moving around in the woods behind the house.
I owned a home in Eagle Bay which was the town Big Moose Lake was in. Grace Brown was also pregnant with his baby and that same baby was kept in a jar and used as evidence during his trial! I would be very angry if I were her. I went looking to connect with her spirit one night, nothing happened, but I didn't have a clue what I was doing either. Many people still come to visit the lake 😘

The graves one reminds me of an overpass being built over Native land for a highway and I remember cars shutting down after passing under that overpass.
