(Judy here!). Thank you for watching this. You are absolutely right. Pattycake Productions is owned by Layne Stein (VoicePlay’s beatboxer) and Tony Wakim (VoicePlay’s former baritone). When this was made, they were storing props in their garages and filming on location. Now they have their own studio, which VoicePlay and Geoff use frequently, and they use for their own productions and rent out to others. They have a knack for getting top talent and fitting the right performer to the right role. The lead here was Rachel Copeland, a member of the American Sirens (who guested with Geoff on his Mele Kalikimaka video). Eli played the trio of Munchkins and Earl (former VP high tenor) was the Cowardly Lion. The trio of young girls were three of Layne’s daughters. And Geoff’s wife Kathy was the wicked witch. (She was also featured in their release last fall of Oogie’s Got His Boogie Back and used to be a theme park performer also). Oh yes, and Toto was played by Tony’s dog, Fletcher. I know you’ve got a long list, but I’ll go ahead and make my next request now. Please react to Tough Love by Pattycake. It’s the second episode of their Villains Lair series (season 1 ). It features Disney characters (villains, of course) and an original song by Layne and Tony. It would be a perfect twist for Mother’s Day!
as other have said, you are right on with you theory. this is a separate company that is run by Voiceplay Beatboxer Layne and former member Tony. they do their own stuff like this as well as provide the sets for a lot of voiceplay and Solo Geoff videos. that was also Geoff's wife who has quite the cameo in one of his halloween videos.
There are a lot of gems in the Pattycake Productions. I got swept down the rabbit hole one night. Imagine my surprise, when Tim Foust showed up in one of these videos. It was the Stepsisters TikTok video.
I was a bit confused because he says he had never seen anything like this before. So I had to check to see if he had already reacted to Wizard of Ahhhs or not.
Great reaction to a great musical. Yes. You were right about everyone. The one I was shocked about was Earl. I knew Kathy and Eli acted in other stuff before.
YES! PattyCake Prod is Eli's production company. I'm glad someone found these! Wonderful stuff! VP - the other side? LOL great stuff here. Thanks, Judy and Nick!
Yes Eli Jacobson is Voice Play! Eli first name is Eliezer but he goes by Eli for short! Yes it’s the same Layne and To y used to be in voice play too. You just opened up a new rabbit hole for me.
Awesome reaction to an awesome video. Yes. Eli, Tony and Earl are all from Voiceplay. Yes. That's Geoff's wife Kathy. Layne and Tony bought Pattycake Productions in 2016. That's when Tony left Voiceplay to go behind the scenes. Every costume you see in these videos Tony made from scratch. He does a lot of them for Voiceplay and Geoff as well. He also helps direct some of them too. This is just one of their many awesome videos. All from scratch and original. My favorites... The Villains Haunted Mansion. The Villains Lair series. There are 8 in season 2 and at present 4 in season 2. Bump In The Night. Thriller parody with classic movie monster. And so many more I haven't seen yet. I am on their Patreon. Pattycake and Voiceplay both have new videos coming to UA-cam soon. Don't know when but they're both awesome. Voiceplay... Can you say "Pinocchio"? Pattycake... Cinderella 5 times. Love ya ❤️
This is very cool! I still prefer Pentatonix's The Wizard of Ahhhs colab with Todrick Hall better. This one definitely has a better budget for cast/makeup/wardrobe but PTX's is just more fun, in my opinion. Thank you for your reactions!
Actually, it’s very low budget. Tony and Layne made all the sets and Tony makes all the costumes. It was so hot during filming that the “yellow brick road” blistered and peeled. Tony had to go home each night and repaint. If anyone is interested, Pattycake posted a blooper reel for this shoot.
You'd be better to watch Pentatonix featuring Tidrick Hall in the Wizard of Ahhs, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It helps if you've seen the original Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland. The song have been modernized but it's incredible. ua-cam.com/video/QkVeKb2igrg/v-deo.html
Oh, common!?!! Pentatonics with Todrick Hall did The Wizard of Ahhs yearrs ago!, I thought you reviewed it a long time ago, Don't I remember remember you not knowing Todrick?? This is such a copycat.
This was released a full three years after Todrick Hall's Wizard of Ahhhs (which you reacted to about 4 months ago). My personal feeling? It is a straight up rip off of Todrick's masterpiece, and not even close to as good as Todrick's. It appears that they mostly use Black Eyed Peas/Will's own music as well - not nearly as imaginative.
I was just thinking the same. I didn't even know what it was but the thumbnail drew me in. My first thought was this is way too similar to Wizard of Ahhhs by todrick and pentatonix. They did the exaxt same thing by taking modern songs and working them into the story of the wizard of Oz. Not original.
Acapella runs usually to covers. This is very different from Todrick's and is being done by the most theatrical of the big 3 American acapella bands. I don't see that it was copied at all. As for the fact they are doing the same movie they often all do the same songs. Christmas carols, religious music all are staples of well many more acapella bands.
My first thought as well. The song transitions are not as clean, the scene changes are not as smooth and I think I saw 5 missed opportunities. But taken as a whole as it's own thing: creative and fun for sure

Lots of recognizable faces in Pattycake Productions. Tim Foust was in one of them last year.

And Todrick Hall was in their second Stepsisters React video!
Very cute. Concept reminded me of the Todrick Hall and PTX’s Wizard of Ahhhhs.
Oh boy, have you got a new rabbit hole to explore! And Thank You Judy.
Kathy is Geoff's wife. If I'm not mistaken, Layne and Tony own Patty's Cake Productions.
Phenomenal performance, so much fun. Very similar to "The Wizard Of Ahhhs" by Todrick Hall with Pentatonix, that you did 4 months ago.
I was a bit confused because he says he had never seen anything like this before. So I had to check to see if he had already reacted to Wizard of Ahhhs or not.
This is the second best wizard of oz rendition, behind the wizard of ahhs by pentatonix
Great reaction to a great musical.

Love ya ❤️
The details say who plays who. Eli is a munchkin and earl formerly of voice play is the lion. Kathy is a munchkin and a witch I believe
Wow, this was crazy cool and fun! Great performances by all. Love it and appreciate you bringing it to me Saucey
More please - Now! love your reactions
That was so cool!!!
