You’ll have fun on those headlights I would strongly recommend upgrading the projector while you go through the pain n suffering of dealing with them Morimoto d2s 5.0 or the sti-r clear glass swap! As for the door handles: I am waiting on some primer and scuff pads specially for aluminum… not sure if I can let them sit for three days though!!
@@Afr0Ztvit only adds maybe 15-20 minutes to the entire job. Just beware - you'll pay $70 for brackets - I got from lightwerkz. One side I was only able to put in two out of three bolts as the top did not line up. Still it's fine. The other side lined up just fine. Seriously if you're going to go through the hell of taking them apart - do the projector upgrade. I now have old school TSX/S2k like cutoffs..... still on 6 year old Osram bulbs and it still looks amazing!! I stayed with HID's because of the peripheral vision - the LED's like NHK's and the morimotos won't give you as even lighting from left to right. The Morimoto D2s 5.0's were the best real world compromise between hot spots on the road vs. overall evenness and width of lighting. Also if you go LED and the fans stop working or the lights go beserk - you get to take the entire assembly apart again... you wont' want to!! I also wanted to keep the stock ballasts/oem looks > a bunch of random wires going everywhere... Because - if you ever have anything major go wrong - the dealership is always going to say: "well.. you did something with the headlights..."
Thank you bro that was a lot of information that I won’t take lightly and I’m currently juggling the idea of parting out the maroon z and swap the interior over to the red one. And just selling what’s left over. After that’s done I’ll tackle the headlights ugh. You just gave me a ton to think about 😅😂🤣 but THANK YOU 🙏🏾 very much!!!
@@Afr0Ztv Just budget 3-4 days if you decide to do it... really they end up being half days - so if you have another car/other things to do, you're good. I ended up needing to hit the hardware store with brackets in hand in order to get short enough bolts that they won't interfere with seating the new projectors into the oem slots. 8-32 hex nuts + 8-32x 1/4" bolts from NAPA; You'll want morimoto butyl glue; the $14 tool or "seam splicer"; Krylon Satin Black that will go over the stupid chrome; and I would choose a darker color but NOT black for the turn signal bezel and projector bezel... don't do the color of the car (that looks ghetto!!); morimoto compression clips; and the long white zip ties (these are handy when you're re-heading and putting them back in oven, taking out, pushing together, then seating the 5-6 phillips screws, then reheating/sealing..) It's actually not that bad - the downtime/several days is that you want to let whatever paint you spray - that needs to have a full 24 hours to outgas and fully dry... While you're at it - I would just buy all the sand paper, 3m/chemical guys plastic polish, 3" pads, and wet sand/finish the exterior of the lights as your final day. Mine look NEW now! Very OEM Porsche like new.... the Morimotos are awesome in that the 5.0's have a blue coating which looks nice during the day... I say GO FOR IT!!!
Funny you say Porsche like lol seen the 370z gauge video I dropped yesterday? I’m really digging how the cluster came out. Yea ima attempt the headlights and try not to mess it up royally lol. Should be a thing, because the 2015+ Mustangs were a complete B*tch to come apart even in oven 🤦🏾♂️. I appreciate the heads up I may reach out to you when I get started if you don’t mind
No flakes as of a few months ago when it was auctioned off. I plan to paint the maroon Z door handles and the red Z as well. The black Z came out beautiful! But sadly it has left the channel, but I still have the other two.
