Im so jealous. I got the chance to meet him when my mom and I spent a week in Gettysburg in April of this year. Such a treat to meet him and introduce myself and thank him for his teaching. I would’ve loved to listen to him on a lecture or a battlefield topic but I’m grateful to at least met him before going back home.
I was at Gettysburg Saturday when this was filmed. Due to circumstances I wasn’t able to take part in the walk. Doing a walk with Matt is on my bucket list. All the Rangers and staff of the Gettysburg NPS are doing an outstanding job.. side note: I’ve brought my better half to Gettysburg twice and she’s asking when we are going back. I think I’ve made a convert. 👍
I don't think it's necessarily the quest for shoes per se that are readily dismissed entirely, so much the mythology of a whole shoe-factory there, and similar fanciful nonsense, that seems to persist to the day. Whatever supplies were there had already been collected by Early's Div. on June 26th, however, so it's interesting that Heth would have been ignorant of that information.
As to demonstrate being cast out. The Bible doesn't say casting them at the feet of Jesus. They will find a willing soul to live in after being cast out.
For those Park Rangers who keep trying to scapegoat Longstreet for Robert E. Lee's failures at Gettysburg remember: You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh_t.
Many thanks, Stuffwriter. All the best from the UK to you and Matt.
Was an honor to be on this tour. Matt was amazing as always, but I did get sunburnt.

Matt was captivating as always. I gathered such a deep understanding of the first moments the Union infantry’s clash with Davis’ Brigade.
Thank you for filming Matt is the best
Matt is such an inspiration to kids. They all respect him.
the opening to Beethoven's 5th Symphony was the perfect musical backdrop for the intro to this video and almost perfectly timed too!
Was my first walk with Matt, loved it
