Great song. Not sure whether I think it should’ve been on How It Feels … or a subsequent album. It’s really a showcase of a song though. Everyone takes their turn and proves how talented they are individually and as a band. Please give us more
I more or less concur, with 2 points you make really being dead on it, 1) the new song is a banger that sounds as big and vital as anything off their old records and 2) that fact gives me some actual optimism that I might hear a whole album worth of good, new material from a band I loved that I thought would never make a comeback after all these years spent inactive. It’s been over 20 years since The Rising Tide was released, and also over 20 years since The Fire Theft LP dropped (basically SDRE minus Dan H), so I would think they would have quite a few ideas basically accumulated on backlog to play around with when the time comes 😅
Banger is right. I feel like this could be a true NEW BEGINNING for SDRE. I hope it is. The Fire Theft LP is so good and gets better every time I listen to it.
@@beardsofkentucky and, just for the record, I couldn’t agree with you more regarding The Fire Theft LP. It is every bit as good as the SDRE albums IMO
I've been a fan since the beginning. My thoughts: I thought the band was done numerous times and didn't expect to ever hear new music so I'm ecstatic. Each 'iteration' of the band they reinvented themselves but kept SDRE elements. This track sounds like a new beginning and I predict they're back for at least another album. It starts off sounding like a more mature enigk solo track with sprinklings of SDRE slowly seeping in. Then it takes a emotional turn at the bridge into the outro. I believe this song is a calculated welcoming back. Enigk's voice is still amazing minus the range to let it loose (understandably). Musically they're more mature and this is just dipping their toes back in as a unit. I'm very excited to see what comes and the fans should be as well. Musically they have a ton left to give

You're right, they all sound GREAT
Chris Jordan on bass is absolutely a perfect fit for SDRE
Yes, he sounds AMAZING! What's the story on him?
