I remember riding this years ago when all the effects still worked/were switched on. It's so sad watching vids of it now. Still a great ride though. I'll never forget the sheer panic when the boat went flying down a hill in darkness and was hurtling towards flames. I honestly thought it was a freak accident and the building had caught on fire. My heart was in my mouth!
I worked on the pleasure beach from 1999-2003. We got to ride Valhalla before it officially opened to the public. Almost 21 year on and this is still my favourite ride on the park. I only wish I had got to ride it with my dad, before he passed away. Growing up, we were like two peas in a pod, going on all the rollercoaster’s together. Unfortunately, by the time I moved up here, he had developed a heart condition so whenever he came up to visit me, he had to give the rides a miss.
Amazing dark ride! Its a shame a lot of the effects have been mostly none operational this season....No lift trommel, no water vortex, no ring of fire and only one of the finale explosions working. Its really hit or miss with this ride if you get all or at least 80% of the effects. However still one of the best dark rides in the world!
I agree, fingers crossed over the closed season some work is done. I did ask about the rest of the fire and it's supposedly because of the boats going to fast through the last section and they have a plan🤞
This is by far my family’s favourite ride. We go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach every year as our tradition and we always go on the Valhalla last. 😂 I think last year me and my sisters went on multiple times without our coats or waterproofs and we got absolutely drenched!
@@danielledewitt1 i think they mean hopefully they'll actually complete the refurb and open the ride again - it's quite common for rides to be under maintenance for a while but then just never open again

My little brother went on this and he hated it and came out crying then my mum tried to make me go on I never did cause I was too scared and still am 😂
This ride has been and always will be the best water ride anywhere. The soundtrack, the theme, the effects, everthing is visually stunning. I will admit the effects can be very unreliable and that goes for the ride too but it is going to be considering the amount of money that it costs to run and update it. For people complaining about how soaked you get, well it's a water ride for starters what were you expecting and the fact that it warns you that you'll get drenched. The only complaint I can understand about this ride is that before it even starts the boats are filled with quite a bit of water which causes your feet to become soggy and wet all the way through. Upon saying that the boats constantly move and so there isn't really any time to drain the water out. They try there best but you got to give them credit for managing that ride when its heaving in summer
I went on this for the first time with my family and got drenched cause we didn’t wear a coat or anything, went on it again another time with my mates and got drenched again🤣
