    Thanks for the info and video. You are correct; I think your video is the only big guy one on here and comfort is a concern for me. Love my xds but would like some options other than just pocket carry so your video was very helpful. Nice xds, I like the upgrades you did.

    Thank you for posting this vid. I'm a bigger guy and I recently carry a Glock 17. I know, not the ideal choice for conceal carry. Anyway, I've tried so many different holsters even with my 27 and it really is hard to find a comfortable holster when the extra pounds get in the way. I have found that crossbreed holsters work well for me. And some of the kydex iwb holsters as well... It's good to see guys putting vids on conceal carry for big guys...

    I have basically the same holster but mine is made by Foxx. Leather & kydex with a suede back. Been carrying it for a couple years and it holds up very well. Did take some time to form it to my body but a very comfortable holster. And I'm a bigger guy as well.

    BTW, i have been able to appendix carry as a big guy, you have to put your belly over the firearm. But your holster has clip needs to sit high enough so the firearm sits low enough. Its hard to find one that will, unless its custom.

    @gibsonrocker17 giving your video 2 THUMBS UP for representing for us big guys who are carrying. I plan on purchasing the beautiful xds in 9mm but I do have a question for you? I noticed that the holster does not cover the front fiber optic front sight is that a issue or do you see it as being a issue? Also I ccw in the 4:30 position will this holster be good for that position? Ounce again good video and thanks for the info man :)

    • @gibsonrocker17
      @gibsonrocker17  9 років тому

      elguerocano I haven't had any issues with the fiberoptic front sight being uncovered. The only occasional thing that happens every couple weeks is it gets a small amount of lint on it and I just blow it off or take a Q-tip to it ... As far as carry position, now that the holster has fully broken in and the leather is much pliable, I find it more comfortable to carry about that position as well since it's not as stiff as when I bought it. Generally 3:30-5:30 is where I carry these days. It does tend to "find" its perfect spot throughout the day and I just leave it there and cinch the belt down one notch tighter. That usually is around 4:30-5 o'clock. Hope that helps and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

    Great video. Thank You so much. I have a S&W Shield 9mm, This will now probably be my cc holster. One quick question though. Was wondering if you tried the N82 professional holster?

    • @gibsonrocker17
      @gibsonrocker17  8 років тому +1

      I do have the N82 holster. I have the original one and not the kydex, which makes it very difficult to reholster without removing it off the belt. My biggest criticism of the N82 holster is the ride height of the holstered gun on the belt. For me, being a man with love handles and my preferred carry position, it was awkward and cumbersome. I do really appreciate their construction though. It is a quality holster.

      Robert Yates I was actually gonna comment the same thing, til I saw your comment. I too have the s&w shield 9mm, and I'm a bigger guy as well. It looked like you were able to conceal your fire arm extremely well, so it has me interested in this holster

      I have no issues with comfort in my carry position of anywhere between 3:30 and 5:00. I frequently drive very long distances and have never had any discomfort from the firearm. If anything, the only thing that becomes uncomfortable is my stiff gun belt. I don't own a motorcycle, but I ride my ATV frequently without any issue. Hope that helps.

    gibs, thanks for making this video I bought my XDS a few weeks ago and love my gun, my cwp is on the way. I bough an inside the waist ban holster from the gun shop and I hate it I paid like 80$ for it as well. I have been watching review videos and am seriously considering the N82 tactical as it looks comfortable. How does the capone holster rate for you on comfort sitting and moving whatever. Have you tried the N82 tactical?

    • @gibsonrocker17
      @gibsonrocker17  10 років тому

      I would rate the Capone overall a 9/10, since I can't say I've found the absolute perfect holster. I'd imagine any of the hybrid holsters of this style would be similar. What I'd say separates this one from the rest of the field is the suede backing, which I haven't found on any others of this style. The suede does a great job wicking away moisture in the summer too, which I really appreciate... I have the N82 tactical standard holster and it stays in the drawer unfortunately. I really love the construction of it, but what I didn't care for is it sits really high above the waistband. Being a bigger guy, I'd either have to wear my pants higher or lower or change my carry position to 5 o'clockish. The suede back on the N82 is awesome and it has a great moisture barrier as well. If you're looking into them, I'd highly recommend the professional version as opposed to the strap. The professional is much easier to re-holster when practicing your draws, even if the draw is a little awkward at first with the twist. The N82 I would rate a 9/10 for comfort for sure though when you find the right position and an 8/10 overall. Hope that helps! I don't think you can go wrong with either, it just depends on your personal preference.. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • @Sillylilyguilly

    What belt do you use?? I find myself pulling my pants up thru out the day. And if I make my belt to tight it’s a pain sitting for a long time lol. #FatKidCarryProblems

    • @gibsonrocker17
      @gibsonrocker17  6 років тому

      Adrian aguilar I use a 5.11 tactical belt. It’s very stiff and it’s designed to be a gear belt, but any stiff belt will do. The key is being able to cinch the belt nice and tight so things don’t shift or sag.

  • @44357514
    @44357514 8 років тому

    The best is to stay away from Inside the Waistband Holsters if you are over-weight to eliminate belly pain and to prevent your pants from falling down when you pull the gun out of the holster. It is best to stay with an Outside the Waist-band Holster or Pocket carry of a small .380acp or .22LR semi-automatic pistol. I prefer to wear my outside the waistband holster behind my hip. I also had to relocate my wallet to my left side so that the gun and holster wouldn't get in the way when I had to pull my wallet out.

      I don't have any problems with in the vehicle being seated for a long time. I frequently drive very long distances and don't even notice it's there. I wear mine between the 3:00 and 4:30 position. Throughout the day, it usually finds its sweet spot around 4:00 and stays there without any discomfort.

    • @gibsonrocker17
      @gibsonrocker17  10 років тому +1

      You may either want to invest in a dedicated gun belt or try some suspenders. I haven't personally had this issue, but I also use a 5.11 tactical gun belt. I would imagine suspenders would alleviate all the issues though if you wanted to go that route. I've also noticed with the suede backing on this holster, that it does help keep it in place a little better as well.

      Thank you! Glad you appreciated the video. I do still use the holster on a near daily basis. It has molded and conformed very well over the years and is holding up extremely well. It remains very comfortable. I really think what separates this one from others I own and have seen is the suede backing. Plus, the leather is nice and thick. I hope they're still making them the same way, because it is a nice quality product.

    Can't you tuck it under one of your rolls?

    Thanks for the video. Do the grips on the xds snag on your clothes?

      Sorry for the belated reply. The grips definitely aren't as smooth as the standard polymer. However, I don't notice a ton of snagging with the grips since I'm using the rubberized grips. I'd imagine it'd be more of a nuisance with the skate tape on there. I've noticed the grips do tend to wear down a little over time and create less friction.
