My Suv, I did it exactly same way. I drove to ALASKA and back from So. CAL 3 years ago sole hiking car camping all the way through Canada. I would do it again in a heart beat. This year, I would put plastic 2 shelving unite, ice chest in the back.
I made one similar to this but I added hinges in the middle in order to fold it up to the size of the cargo area. That way I can keep the middle row fully functional when I am not sleeping
Nice simple setup! I did pretty much same setup in my 2004 ML 500 and I am 5 ft 10inch tall and I can sleep on it very fine. The rooftop cargo basket as well is a great choice. Enjoy the camping adventures..
I took the headrests off for another few inches and built the platform higher for storage underneath. I have a 2005 envoy. Just came back last night from a month of camping in Va./TN with my dog. IM 60/female. Left my husband at home. IM here a week and off to some hiking in Pa. Enjoy!
I have an isuzu ascender that I'm literally about to do this with. I'm taking the front seat out though and putting in a desk type setup so I can do my office work with.
@@johnc6466 it's done all the time in even smaller vehicles like civic n priuses..remove front passenger seat lay piece of plywood down some foam blankets n there ya go..
Im a Hotshot Truck driver im thinking of doing something similar we have a Twin Mattress and a Twin air mattress i could put in the Back for a bed im thinking about hooking a 10ft trailer up and using my GMC Envoy for Small loads ill have a Sleeper basically with it set up like that
Lowe's and Home Depot might build it for you! I read something on another video with a simple build. Just buy the materials and they will put it together for you. I can't remember the labor charge.

Cover the wood with a bottom sheet with elastic on the corners and pull that over the wood. It looks clean and neat... 😎👍

the back seat can double as a desk chair and fold the front passenger seat down into a table or desk for laptop

In these models there is a strap on the back of the bottom seat. Pull that up first then u can lay down the back rest part.
Alot of people call these a sleeper conversion you should take pictures and post pictures online
