Trent 700 - Sounds steady and quite less noise.
CF6-80E1 - Loud but sounds powerful.
PW 4000-100 - Sounds like a fighter jet, loud but superior noise.

For me the clear winner is the: (1st place) Rolls Royce--love the wind up scream and overall deep powerful sound (2nd place) Pratt & Whitney--this was a LOUD aircraft rolling down the runway, but the Rolls sounds much stronger and more interesting to witness (3rd Place and DISTANT 3rd) Sadly the GE engines sound muted and plain boring. 1. PW
    2. GE

Rolls Royce Trent 700 gives personality to A330. CF6 gives personality to Boeing 747, C-5M super galaxi, MD-11 and DC-10. Finally Pratt and Withney are better for Boeing 767

      Update, Jan 2019
P&W is the mosy unsafe engine now. It's causing major troubles to Airbus A320neo. Problems ranging from vibrations, fans chipping the casing, metal in oil and finally complete engine shutdown.

PW4000-100 is like the Harley-Davidson of jet engines. Distinct, loud af and not exactly the most powerful nor efficient.
Impressive given they made the PW1000G.

PW... no doubt!! the sound sounds like a melody, besides being much more reliable and powerful !! It needs less runway to take off than GE... despite being an A330-200 that is much heavier than the 300
