Just got one of these CCR2450s and am ready to test its mettle with some Michigan snow! I'm feeling more confident after seeing you put it to work on that wet heavy stuff. Nice job!
For a single stage it does great in the heavy stuff! Since this video (filmed 3 winters ago) I bought a used dual stage with some of the money i earned to have for the deep stuff since I usually help out 4-8 of my neighbors. Still kept the CCR and i use it for all the small to medium snows and honestly even though I have the dual stage I still use the CCR a lot just because it's so nice and light and packs a lot of punch for its small size, lot easier to maneuver in between cars too!
I agree this machine is a monster, so simple and reliable. Honestly better than 2 stage, it cuts through the snow just fine and you don’t have to worry about all the extra mess of a bigger machine. I’m sticking with my 2450!
They are great! I use them in a light commercial application and to be honest, they hold up just fine (I shovel 5 additional driveways about the same size as mine)
Ohhh yes! 6 to 8 inches at a time usually occurs once or twice a year, but we dont usually see a foot every year, maybe every 3-4 years. It's been in the 40's everyday since Sunday so its starting to melt.
It does the job. Toro”s are the best. I love mine. Had it for about four years now. Bought it used. Single stage snowblowers are the best. That’s a lot of snow.
Yes they are! 2006 model but runs like a new machine. Now, if we get more then 12", it gets a bit tougher and in Chicago it rarely snows more then 12" and if it does, then I go out twice so in reality I'd only 6-8" at a time
Oh I have too! Speaking of 2 stage snowblowers, are you planning on dropping a video on the Toro powermax HD? I enjoyed seeing the Snowmaster vs the Crossover
@@andyslawncareandoutdooradv it’s in the works but I’ve been working on another toro project at the moment. But I have footage ready to go when I get the chance
I have the same unit but yours throws snow much farther. What are some maintenance items i should check? I put a new carb on it and it does not seem down on power, just not throwing snow as much. Do the blades require maintenance?
Yes the rubber paddles do wear down and require replacing overtime. There is a wear indicator hole on the corner of the paddles, if they've worn down to that point or past then it's time to replace the paddles. If the paddles need replacing, then you should also replace the scraper at the same time. Also check the belt if that's really stretched and worn it could contribute to lack of throw distance. Hope this helps!
@@andyslawncareandoutdooradv awesome thanks. Looks like theres a lot of options for replacement kits with belts paddles and scrapers and belts. I’ll definitely check the wear indicator i’m probably far overdo. I also need a new prime bulb
I replaced belt, plug, fuel lines and filter, primer bulb, scraper and paddles. WOW this thing is awesome! I posted a short you can see it chucking snow like 30ft now. This is the first time i’ve had to be careful where I aim it😂 the new paddles also made it much harder to bog down since it’s efficiently clearing out the chute now. Thanks for the vid and the reply i wouldnt have thought to do that
@Javii96 glad I could help! I watched your short video and wow that machine is chucking that wet snow a long ways! Where are you located at where you got all that heavy snow?
@@andyslawncareandoutdooradv colorado just a bit south of denver. Biggest storm we’ve had in a few years and it’s still going. Power has been iffy in the area as well
@jimweigand8937 I've got a craftsman 2 stage (used) I found for a very good deal on FB marketplace that I have had the last few winters in addition to the toro.
You may want to use a tach and check that you have the high speed needle adjusted for maximum speed. Per the Toro website it’s 4050 RPM. That may help with bogging down you’re experiencing at times.
Thanks for the suggestion! I don't have a tach but it's something to keep in mind. I've since bought a 2 stage snowblower to use side by side with this machine so when we get heavy snow like this I resort to using the 2 stage over the single stage
@@bobsix2720 Not having that kind I can’t really say for sure. I’d guess if the pulley rotates at the speed of the engine then it should work. Instruction manual?
The 2450 calls for 3800rpm, and the 3650 calls for 4000rpm (plus or minus 250 on either). I'm pretty sure a 3650 is simply a 2450 with rpm's bumped up, as they have the same 141cc engine. I have a 3650, and I can't say enough how bad ass it is for a single stage. That being said, I've found that both two stage and single stage blowers have their own realm. I use an 11hp two stage to quickly move deep stuff, and the 3650 to quickly move anything 10 inches or under. Took me a while to figure out that combo by experience here in southwest Michigan.
Thank you! Yes owning 2 machines is nice so that if one breaks, I have a backup, or if we get a big storm (like the one in the video) I can have another friend come help out if need be
Hi Andy, great video. I'm looking for a little help. I just bought a used 2450 and can't find the oil drain plug or oil fill location. What the heck is the secret? Thank you!
The 2450 is a 2 cycle engine, meaning the oil and gas are mixed together, that's why there is no drain plug for the oil because the gas and oil are mixed together. Hope this helps!
Yeaaah there was 10 inches on the ground at the time of filming and about 18 at the end of the driveway. I think the 60 volt would work but I would have had to go out mid storm and clear like 5-6" at a time.
It is not self propelled with a transmission. However, the paddles do propell the unit forward in lighter snows (2-5" of light snow) in deep heavy snow (like the video) not really. Hope that helps
start in the middle of the driveway while keeping your chute to the right and at the end up your path do a half upturn into the next strip. you'll never have to touch the chute on straight driveways.

It doesn't have a transmission. This single stage like many others on the market is auger propelled, meaning as the rubber auger scrapes the ground it helps to pull the unit forward. This auger propel is most noticeable in lighter, smaller snows. Hope this clarifies your comment
