Do you know any men that struggle with emotional literacy? What's your biggest struggle been with that? Let me know your stories!

I'm 59 and it's taken me many years to master the art of surpressing my emotions. So much so that at a funeral I attended recently I felt absolutely no emotions about the person who had died. I learnt a long time ago having emotions and/or feelings was a luxury I couldn't afford. People who know me know that I never open up and I certainly don't show any vulnerablity...this is my way of protecting myself and feeling safe.

Men, specifically in America, grow up being told to "man up!" or not to show tears, fear etc. We learn at an early age to repress our feelings and then when we are older... we are just BAD at explaining ourselves. Great video!

I’m glad that you’re talking about this! It’s a really important topic. I would love to see more men who are self-aware and emotionally intelligent, who see vulnerability not as a weakness, but as a strength. It takes courage to put yourself out there and let people see the real you.

Men are taught to never show emotions then we're shamed for not showing emotions

Fascinating video - I would love to know more about how to support men to become more emotionally literate (in addition to watching your video 😀 ).
Or is this something / an self-awareness / a journey, they need to seek for themselves?

Andrew, this is a fantastic video idea, brother! A lot of men either hide their emotions or outright deny them and that’s a big issue. We need to be self-aware and emotionally intelligent. It can only provide a huge benefit for us personally, while also helping us to understand how to deal with other people and their emotions.
Love it bro, keep up the great work! Looking forward to your next video! Just subscribed, here to support 👏🏽😁

Hi Andrew! Thank you for making this video! I'm currently working on the plot for a short film revolving around a similar topic, and this video gave me an insight into the emotional aspects and actions of my characters.

I think it’s important to understand your emotions. But controlling them is essential as a man. A visibly emotional man is usually perceived as weak. Especially from the opposite sex.

    I’m going to ask a controversial question…
Do you think emotional suppression and mismanagement lead to violence towards women in some males? If so, how can we fix this?

I think the internet and social media also destroy our emotional intelligence

when we show emotions, we get shit on by other men and women alike. only your family allows you to express emotions, every other person treats you like shit for feeling anything
