I like every one of these albums so much. They also have some of my favorite DM Albums of all time 6 Considered Dead 5 From Wisdom to Hate 4 Erosion of Sanity 3 Colored Sands 2 Pleiades Dust 1 Obscura
Obscura will likely always be my favorite as it completely changed how I perceive music, but it's definitely a taxing listen and I find myself listening to their other albums more these days. From Wisdom to Hate especially!
Obscura is definitely a game changer, such a unique album. I still love it, just put it last because I find myself going to the other albums a bit more.
Obscura and Colored Sands are my go-to discs, From Wisdom to Hate in the middle, then their first two. Pleiades Dust is kind of a wildcard being only 1 track - I only listen to it in the wee hours of the night with headphones or when driving longer distances (aka when I have proper time to myself) as I feel like I'm losing my train of thought (or rather Luc's train of thought) if I stop it in the middle. Brilliant band, probably spent more time over the years trying to digest their material than any other groups I can think of. It should also be noted Luc Lemay may be the nicest guy in death metal... with the possible exception of Eric Rutan.
Awesome! Ya definitely a band that takes time to digest all the material, but so well done and excellent. I have never met Luc, but from interviews I see ya he seems super cool and nice. I have had the pleasure of meeting Erik Rutan when Hate Eternal toured my city and ya he is so nice, super cool dude, one of my favorite death metal musicians for sure!
My ranking would go like: 6) From Wisdom To Hate - for me personally its my least revisited album 5) Pleiades' Dust - super underrated release 4) Considered Dead - great just prefer the more avant-garde side of this band 3) The Erosion Of Insanity - This could have been my second favorite but it dropped slightly 2) Obscura - I love this one, but sometimes it a little too crazy that it keeps it from being number one 1) Colored Sands - This to me is a perfect balance of everything Gorguts has become over the years
Great ranking man! This is a band I thought I had checked a little out, but as I was looking them up I realised I hadn't. I was thinking of Gorefest, the band I have listened to. Honestly, so many Death Metal bands with similar names, it's so confusing! 😂😂 Anyway I know Considered dead is one of their best albums, lots of people have said about it. I'm sure I'll check them out at some point, cheers for letting me know where to start! Great vid man! 😊🤘
Thanks man! Ya I would definitely suggest starting with the first 2 albums, a little more straight forward before the more experimental albums afterwards. but really all 5 albums are awesome. Cheers man!
@@HammerheartMetalReviews welcome mate! Nice one that's cool cheers man, I'll definitely start with the first 2 and see where it goes. That's cool I'm interested to check them out. I've been on a Death kick recently, I've had time so I listened to the first 5 albums over 3 days. Really awesome stuff, been meaning to check them out properly for a long time! I also got through a couple of early Kreator albums, really enjoyed those too! 🤘🤘🤘
@@HammerheartMetalReviews yeah man, they're a band I wanted to give more time to, but never had the time until now. It was really cool going through their discography, if I have time tonight I'll listen to Cymbolic I think. And yep, I had listened to a little Kreator before but I wasn't sure about them. However after listening to Terrible certainty, Extreme aggression and Coma of souls it's really turned it around for me! I like them a lot now! 😊🤘
The only thing I don’t love about Gorguts is their name, it’s kinda cheesy if you ask me…but I’ll cut them some slack since they were teenagers from Quebec! Anyway, definitely one of my favourite Death Metal bands. So unique and groundbreaking, I get why some people might not like the later stuff as it’s pretty out-there but once it clicked for me I couldn’t get enough! Like you said, super hard to rank since they’re so consistently great. Here’s my ranking: 1. From Wisdom to Hate 2. Obscura 3. The Erosion of Sanity 4. Colored Sands 5. Considered Dead Pleiades’ Dust is fantastic too, it would be high on my list but I guess it’s generally considered an EP. Cheers 🤘🤘
Totally agree haha! Pleiades Dust is amazing too. I like seeing From Wisdom to Hate in your top spot, I feel like that album is super underrated! Such a flawless discography
I would rank them the same way! I thought i would be the only one putting Obscura last. I haven´t digested this album yet and i don´t know if i ever will. But Erosion of Sanity is my clear number one as well. I think Metal trenches has the exact opposite ranking ;-D
Erosion of Sanity is so good! Easy #1 for me. With only 5 albums that are all awesome I guess the opinions of the ranking are bound to be vastly different! Cheers!
I like every one of these albums so much. They also have some of my favorite DM Albums of all time
6 Considered Dead
5 From Wisdom to Hate
4 Erosion of Sanity
3 Colored Sands
2 Pleiades Dust
1 Obscura
Agreed! Every single album is so good, this is an almost impossible ranking.
What are your favorite songs by Gorguts? Top 5 or 10 if you don't mind

did you know gorguts played with marduk in norkkoping sweden in 1993 awesome band

Whilst Obscura is by far my favourite, I definitely agree its a little long especially for the crazy style they go for
Such a crazy unique album, so amazing. Really I love all 5 albums, this was almost impossible to rank haha
Colored Sands is a masterpiece.
Agreed! I actually think all their albums are masterpieces haha, such a good band
amazing band great my favorite canadian death metal band next to early cryptopsy and katakylsm
Thanks for this. Got my tickets to Cannibal/Mayhem/Blood Incantation and Gorguts. This is awesome and helpful.
Awesome! I wish that tour was coming to my city but its not unfortunately. Would be there in a heartbeat!
@@HammerheartMetalReviews 😄 yea I feel ya. Just subscribed and was looking over some of your stuff. Can’t wait to see and share next one cheers 🍻 🤘🏽

Ha Ha I am opposite, my ranking is the reverse order that they were released!!
Still completely makes sense to me haha, all these albums are so good!
First two are easily their best work. I'd say Erosion gets top spot most days.
Nice! I completely agree, Erosion is hands down my favorite
@@HammerheartMetalReviews Vocals are mixed too loud, but musically it's their best work.
