    Hey Jake, love watching the videos, look forward to the big hole conversion. Mark from Twin Sticks Garage has just done one on his Peterbuilt and made some mistakes, might be worth a look so you can learn from his, was mainly around the hole size. Thanks for your videos.

    Hi Jake, that big hole conversion should be an interesting watch for sure. Good that you’ve got the steering issue taken care of. Looks a bit different with the normal wheels on the front. Almost looks like that fuel tank is too far ahead the steering arm hits it when you turn the wheel all the way. Cleaning the yard should be interesting to watch you’ll be working on all sorts of equipment. Nice seeing the Kenworth again. Sounds like it’s pretty hot down there so try to stay cool

    • @dieseldownunder.
      @dieseldownunder.  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey mate thanks for watching!
      I still prefer the super singles on the front but I’ll take it out for a test with the standard wheels on and see how it goes.
      Yeah the fuel tank is probably a little too far foreward but the steering arm could also be moved forward a spline or two aswell.
      Thanks for watching mate hopefully I’ll have a few good videos up soon
      Cheers

    A mate of mine has always said a good rule of thumb is the top of the drive tyres should be level with the top of the chassis, and the guards should have the boot threads out the top of the guards so they don’t dig into the tyres if you lose airbag ride height and need to drive anywhere plus set the guards with airbags deflated with 2” x 1” wood slat for good spacing from the tyres

      It should be a good job and plenty of content I think a lot of people will enjoy it!

      I’m looking forward to the big hole conversion too, be interesting to see how you get on because it’s something I’ve never had to do. We use a similar riveter to that Huck gun, but we just call it a lockbolt gun, huck must be the brand. Expensive tool though, especially the Milwaukee ones! I take it diesel is as ridiculous for you as it is us? We call it liquid gold 😂🙈 amazing how it’s changed over the last 25 years, was cheap as chips, now you have to squeeze every last drop out of the tank mad max style😂🤙🏻

      @dieseldownunder.  10 місяців тому

      If it still had the factory crawl through there’s no way I’d cut it out but the back wall of the cab and front wall of the bunk have already been cut out in the walkthrough shape so there really any down side to doing a big hole conversion

    • @SootyDiesel81
      @SootyDiesel81 10 місяців тому +1

      Oh was it a factory crawl through? That’s a shame they cut it

    • @dieseldownunder.
      @dieseldownunder.  10 місяців тому

      @@SootyDiesel81 it was a day cab from factory, they added the low line bunk and the “factory” way to do it would have been to remove the window and install a ring and boot but they cut down between the seats to make a walk through and it does the job but it’s not perfect.
      So that’s why I’ve gone this way I can put a new back wall in and huck the rings in, the front wall is half way cut out of the sleeper already from when they made it into a walk through so this is the cleanest way to go about it, the next video I will explain it from inside the bunk and it will make more sense why I’m doing it
