    To mince fresh garlic, begin by separating the head into individual cloves with your hands. Smash a garlic clove under the blade of a chef's knife by hitting the blade with the palm of your hand. This breaks the clove open and releases the peel. Guide the garlic under the knife edge with your fingers, and rock the knife through the garlic until it's minced.

    Thank you for the precise but short video on this. You were straight to the point which is always appreciated. I am coming across 3-4 minute videos on how to mince fresh garlic. I mean...does a person really need 4 minutes to see this? I think not especially after watching this particular video. Thank you. I look forward to more videos by you.

    I cut off the end, then smash. I find it's easier to peel that way.

    Actually I believe you are cutting Crosswise, not Lengthwise! Probably doesn't make any difference!

    Directions unclear. Ended up with a half of a tomato and 3 celery sticks. 2/10.
