Hello. I found your channel yesterday via Jamie Ray vintage and have binge watch your whole series about DIY paint by Debbie beard. Count me as your newest official subscriber. Hahaha best wishes from Illinois
You are a brave lady. Loved watching you transform the ugly brown into the beautiful green. Your friend was a riot with his screwdriver q-tip. Thanks for sharing your project. Keep the videos coming . blessings
I'm so grateful for you, Ellen! I love your personality and the way you conducted this video tutorial. What an amazing friendship you have there. 😊 This is the best tutorial I found, and with all your information, I feel a lot more confident in trying it myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤️
Hi Lynne - great video - I have an old foot stool that someone gave me - top is beige so quite dirty, I tried cleaning it with upholestery cleaner and nothing so I'm going to paint it! Thanks for the great tutorial!
He's got a whole attic and back barn full, too! They've been in business for a long time and I have learned so much from him about antiques AND upholstery!
Lol, can’t wait to see what you do with the couch. I’ve resorted to hiding projects in my camper since I filled up my basement. I know your dilemma ❤️❤️❤️
LOL LOL your ending was hilarious "hide it from my husband." I remember those days, now don't have to hide anything...got rid of him lol lol lol.Great vid and story. God Bless
Hide it from hubby!😂😂 You are sooo cute! This was a well explained tutorial!! Love the old timey music too..not sure I'll ever paint velvet but you did trigger some creative ideas for me. Also how 'bout pillow covers?? Have you tried that yet? Thanks!💚(I also like that patina look you created with the brown showing through. )
What an awesome guy Gary is! He knew you could learn to upholster and instead of feeling threatened sharing his trade secrets, he is sharing them & spreading the love ( or just wanted you to stop bugging him lol wink wink). Btw, cool chair, just looking at it, kinda looks like it's dyed leather which gives it a unique and cool finish.
Lol, Lynn! Did you find a place to hide that sofa? I hope so! I loved this video, I really want to try this someday! I cringed a little when Gary stuck that screwdriver in his ear! 😳 Wonderful video though! I wish I had more time to watch them all!
Could you add WHITE VINEGAR TO YOUR WSYER SPRAY? I'm an old hairstylist and I used to apply this solution to grey hair before coloring and all I can say it IT WORKED FOR HAIR FYE do why not paint ? Try it on a spot of the fabric you suspect could be a cotton Blend. What have you got to loose? Live the chairman I hope you got the sofa! I font underdtand the " hide it from my husband" anyone. I left the one who did NOT understand my Creativity Needs 33 years ago!!. I'm so HAPPY. There's no hideing anything anyone!❤
Vinegar is a dye setting agent. I'd put about 2 tablespoons in your water bottle. I'm betting you'll see a difference in how the fabrics take the paint or some cars USEING Ryt fabric dye now as well on upholstery. Good luck.
Help help @ellenjgoods!??! I have a microfiber sorta looks like a velvet or velour type fabric or i don’t know really old recliner rocker it’s SAGE green very light sage green ( I doubt it’s cotton) I saw all your steps so I get it sort of ….so for a pale light sage green chair what products and colors can I use to get a MOSS GREEN velvet look?? Like the seventies style velvet you still see when you type in miss green velvet chair ?? Thx.
I’m so sorry that I missed your comment, Heaven, I hope you see this. I think that you will just need to experiment with some different shades of a darker green. It’s really hard for me to judge what the outcome would be since I don’t know what you mean by a light sage green, and every paint will react differently depending on the color and the fabric content . We all see incense color differently. I say test on a small area and see what happens!
Upholsterers.......always working too far into the future. It’s very hard work I can say that for sure. But a great skill to have. If my hands could only take on more projects. Next up Debis paint. But so fun.
You have inspired me to change the color of some 40 year old fabric. Thanks
Oh I am so glad Linda, hope it turns out amazing!
Your voice is so soothing!
Awww! Thank you!

You should!

I haven't tried pillow covers! That's a good thought...and more manageable than a big sofa!
❤❤

I agree! It’s a generous thing to share information like he did! Thank you so much for commenting!
I have a chair that looks like velvet but i think it is synthetic can i paint my chair like this! Love it❤️
Painting a cotton velvet works best. Sometimes the synthetics don’t accept the paint as well.
@@ellenjgoods i am going to try! Thank you 😊
@@76illusion what have you got to loose?
@@ellenjgoods well ……just my chair🤣🤣🤣

Donna, that’s a great tip! I’ll definitely try the vinegar thing! Thank you for stopping by. 💓💓💓💓

Has the chair held up as you expected? Any new information on the outcome?
Yes! It’s held up very well!!!!
Love this!
I loved watching your video. Debi's Design Diary put me in touch with your You Tube group.
Yay! Thanks for watching!

Amy Drews thank you Amy! ☺️

@@ellenjgoods thats ok!~ im getting rid of it lol but still fun watching your work!
And where is the tufted sofa now ?
Long, long, gone 😂
What grit sandpaper are you using?
220
Is that guy digging in his ear?!
😂😂😂
Before I attempt a chair, I will start with a thrifted throw pillow.
I think tats a great idea!!!!
How has the chair held up?
It has held up great!
Great! Then I'm going to do this to a chair that I have!
