Such HYPOCRISY!!!! Consumers want a choice in automobiles . I don't need and I don't want any SUV ,CROSSOVERS MINIVAN !!! I just want a small hatchback just like Volkswagen MK 4 and MK 5 Golf DIESEL

You're probably the only reviewer that emphasize the chassis control, braking feel and quietness and not only 0-60, something that EV should have because the fact that there is no engine in front and more weight are put and spread near the CoG. Also that turning radius is awesome.

I’ve had my ID.4 for 3 days now and it has far exceeded my expectations which were pretty high. I laugh now at the many reviews knocking various things like it’s quickness and it’s glitchy entertainment system. Let me first say that quickness is a relative thing. This car accelerates like a jack rabbit and is considerably faster from a stop than most cars. I haven’t noticed any real issues with the entertainment system. My system may have already had its software update prior to delivery. Voice control system works great. It occasionally fails to respond to me, but that’s because I’m not talking loud enough. I’ve been very impressed by the extensive number of understandable commands. So much fun to drive and the reviews on this channel are spot on and give an accurate, unbiased review of this special automobile!

If they are not going to pull you over they should fit a strobe to the rear of the car like the hidden ones on unmarked cars. Anyone is legally allowed to stop in the lane for safety reasons but keeping you safe there is an ultimate priority if you are truly incapacitated. The seat belt technique would be a huge plus. I have been interested in an ev for some time now bur not wanting a sedan, this is what I’ve been waiting for and myself and my uncle have preordered one, great job now the agony of waiting for delivery, we did order the awd.

I completely agree with you . In real life it does not really matter how long it takes to get to 60 from 0 . What I do not understand is why a lot of guys are hung up on it as it is the greatest metric to assess an EV. I am really impressed with your review which is very fair ,unbiased and practical .Keep up the good work !

0 to 60 does matter to a certain point. The numbers that have been talked about certainly seem rather low I've heard zero to 60 in about eight and a half seconds. You're not far off Prius territory.
I think those numbers are wrong based on what I've seen in this video I think the car accelerates much better than that. It all comes down to how it's calibrated. As long as it comes away from a stoplight and accelerates to a reasonable speed consistently and quickly people are going to be perfectly happy with it. And based on Kyle's response if he thinks it's quick enough I'm inclined to just believe it.
The most important thing for people is going to be the space efficiency inside and whether it's quiet and comfortable. And that turning Circle is really important. So many cars have terrible turning circles. and Kyle's correct about that it's going to make a fantastic lift and Uber car for that reason and it's practicality

Midrange acceleration usually is more important than 0-60 times.

I did a test drive on Tuesday. No mountain roads but I was impressed with the suspension and rear wheel drive on interchanges and roundabouts, really stable. Especially for a heavy car I was really impressed.
The brake were squishy, but stopped fine. I didn't get a chance to jam them on and I'd like to see how that feels.

Kyle - this is good stuff! I learned a lot from this. We just got our ID.4 1st Edition last week - it is our 6th EV. A couple of points: the coasting in D is wonderful, but it is different than how our 2 e-Golfs worked - it coasts on flat-ish ground on lower speed roads, but on down slopes on streets and roads, it applies a proportional amount of regen. It doesn't strictly hold you below the speed limit, but it does moderate the speed. On highways though, it seems to just coast, no matter the speed.
I have not had it long enough to figure out exactly how it is set up, but I kinda' wish it just coasted like the e-Golf. Because coasting is more efficient, and smoother, and you find many more places where it is possible, than you could ever expect that it was.
Another feature that the e-Golf has that I *wish* was included on the ID.4 - and that is adaptive creep. The e-Golf has no creep by default, which I love. I think that imitating an ICE in this, is like having artificial exhaust smell - it is a flaw in an ICE, but we have just gotten used to it. The adaptive part in the e-Golf, is when you get into stop and go traffic, it gave you a mild creep. It is so natural, that it took me a while before I noticed it. It goes away again, after you get the car above about 20MPH.
Having said that, the creep in the ID.4 is very mild, so I can live with it. I'd be interested to see if they have different creep. or different regen / coasting in the various modes.

Another good video. I had posted yesterday that I had a reservation for the AWD one but just got an e-mail today that my "delivery estimate" would be october-december. So thats a little later than i expected, but I'm not desperate for a new car so that actually works out perfectly for me. My dealer said they should have a 1st edition to drive this week or next so at least I'll get to get in it IRL soon. I waited 6 months for my Golf R and didn't see one IRL till it was already mine.
Ok instead of making like 14 posts as I watched this I'll just edit this one to say - you remark earlier in the video that you can't figure out why people are saying its too slow, but you have to engage the kickdown switch in comfort mode to get max power output. I wonder if other testers haven't messed with the drive settings or realized that the kickdown switch is the ticket to full power in eco mode? I bet that would be an easy mistake to make.

Ha. I have a reservation in for an AWD Pro Statement model. I started getting disillusioned over the past few days after seeing some lukewarm reviews. And then finding out that a number of the features I was excited about (the awesome AR head up display, groovy tail lights and heat pump to name a few) won't be coming to America didn't help. Then I went to the dealership to just take a look yesterday and, while I love the look of the car, the buttons are much easier to use than expected and the interior displays are absolutely gorgeous, the rest of the interior didn't feel very premium. Not junky like a Tesla, but lots of hard-ish plastics. And then there's that display lag.
So, I emotionally caved and went back home and told my wife we'd have to wait on transitioning to EV, and we could start looking at that A6 she wants again. Until I started spec'ing it out and realized that $67k for the Audi doesn't get me a head up display either. Or massaging seats.
And then I read/realized that the display lag is only when swiping to and from the Nav screen, and you can disable that widget and/or just use the buttons on the home screen and problem solved. And saw a video about a split charger product that allows you to charge from your dryer plug without unplugging it (the house we're in isn't ours so we can't install a charger). And then came home and watched this glowing (happy) review.
I still think you're a little TOO bubbly about the car, and it's got some warts, but I've decided it IS time to go electric (Audi just announced they're not going to even develop any more gas engines) and now I've just got to con my wife into liking the ID.4.

The lag is as good as gone in software version 2.1 (In ID3 it is 0792, possibly 0794 in ID4 EU). He is trying a press car and it is probably on software 2.0.

You are so correct that almost all drivers really only need something like this. Comfortable, capable, and fun to drive. Yes it’s fun to zip around in the tesla, but 99% of the time, I just casually drive around. Thanks for the review.

Great review, i have to agree that this is a great car. I own one since end of january. Just had a software update, 2.1, at the dealer here in Europe, so next time the software updates are online, do not have to go to the dealer. Regen braking is flawless. It is not as fast as my Neighbours Model 3, but far more comfortable and spacious. It drives like a luxury car. I love it. Fortunately i don't have the White interieur, it's Grey and Brown. And i have the Max version with 21inch wheels, heatpump and a flexible towbar...

Your knowledge and fairness of pros and cons is very good, I like your approach. And I agree, the 0-60 thing becomes mindless, I've been driving (and still do) 911's that are very fast, but even those I don't drive that way very often. GTI level performance is plenty, especially if this car is for the masses; GTI performance is already more than the masses have now. I agree, being able to turn TC off is a good thing to have, at least for me once in a while.

I just test drove an ID4 First Edition RWD today. I was surprised at how nice it was overall. Ride comfort, street handling and performance were all very good. I also thought it was very quiet and comfortable. I was a little put off by the navigation and routing aspects of the screen, but it wasn’t a deal killer. I’m waiting for the AWD models in the ID4 and Audi Q4 50 e-tron to arrive, and will most likely choose between one of them.

I am going to try to convince my wife to get one of these. She is currently driving a 2016 Subaru Forester which she loves. As we are both now retired, most of her driving is less than 300 miles a week. We have a 2019 VW Atlas for road trips. The Atlas is my car and suits my 6'5" 260 Lb frame quite well. The 2nd row has the "captains chairs" and I had the dealer remove the seat from behind the driver's so I have room to put wheelchair. I really like the Atlas - it handles great for a big car.

We ordered a Pro S Gradient in Red for my college students to drive. They've been using a 500E since high school and I wanted to get something with more range, and with that 7500 credit it's the cheapest CUV out there. Dunno when we'll get it though, that's the only downside.
Trying to decide if I need the AWD or not, might change it, might not.
