5 years ago every route that went past Westbourne Park bus garage was tower transit and now we don't run any of the routes no more. Route 28 went to ratp and 31 and 328 went to metroline . I miss driving them but hopefully we get them back
Enjoy your new rota. We've had quite a few bus services reduced lately, especially route 42, as it's now running every 15 mins instead of 12 mins. So no more 5 bar headway on the Siemens screen.
12 years driving in Auckland NZ, very similar to our rotations and duties but I mainly drive various versions into the city from west. AM shifts starting 5:30ish, over by 2-4pm. Rotation has 4 day wknd every 5 wks which is nice
@@savageg7155 You're treated like a number, rather than a person. And once you start driver training on the buses, you're treated like sht and are expected to control the bus as well as follow instructions. I know it sounds simple but it really isn't. Then the instructor is always ranting and raving at you for taking the wrong turn or a mistake you made. You're made to feel stupid, and that it's a simple task. It's easy for them, as some of them have been driving or instructing for many years. Go Ahead are pushing so many drivers to pass in such a short period of time that there have been so many accidents in recent years. All about money rather than the safety of people. I genuinely wish you the patience and luck.
@@letsride3016 omg thanks for the tip, I’m starting in a few weeks 😭. The current workplace I’m at is like that too where you’re just another number but only thing they don’t wanna pay you enough, so that’s why I thought F it I might as well get paid more lol. I’m hoping it’s depending on the garage on how the environment is😭😭, and I hope things honestly get better for you
You need to speak to your instructor if you don’t feel ready but just keep in mind they are very limited in the amount of extra hours you can do before you have to go to test
I feel I'm getting better each time I drive but I still mount the odd kerb here and there. It's tricky because my company use 12m long Merc Citaros for training which are really bad for tailswing
The key to stop mounting kerbs quite honestly all comes down to speed and mirror work the slower your speed the more time you have to react to situations around and because you’re at a slower speed you’re able to use your mirrors more effectively to avoid the kerb
Are all the Amazon duties out of PD does one half on the Amazon shuttle and the other on the 177 or is it a mix of various different PD routes for the other half?
The Amazon rota is only shared with the 177s. You typically do one trip either to Amazon or to Thamesmead or Woolwich then you go back to the 177s either with the same bus or you take the bus back to the garage then change over with another driver.

You should come down KB and do a 181 or a 284 😏 it’ll be like having a holiday
I do want to go out on loan at some point so you never know
“Rather do that than a 177” love it Taylor!

Will you be at Plumstead Garage Open Day?
I’m working that day anyway so you may see me when I’m on my break
Started the training 3 weeks ago and am supposed to be doing the test next week which I'm a bit worried about as I feel I'd need more training to pass
