Amanda Ju - huh, it actually made me think, jeez, you lot are easily impressed by a few lighting effects! I don’t mean to take away from any enjoyment of the performance - it was obviously great - but the audience did seem primed to be easy to please! Having said that, the quick change from cloak to sparkly dress was certainly very cool! 😉
I was lucky enough to be in the audience that day and I'll tell you the TV directors asked that we all cheer for some of the smaller things for TV purposes. That said, I've seen the entire show several times now and there are moments the audience really does genuinely lose it because it's that fabulous, including like the last 30 seconds haha! If you aren't coming unglued by the end you're dead inside lol! A video will never capture just how truly beautiful it looks or how otherworldly Caissie Levy is. Damn can that girl sing.
Actually, that's the worst part. It's a little thing called theater etiquette - something that audiences these days are severely lacking. And it doesn't help that ABC and The View forced these people to react like this, so this basically tells people that it's okay to act like this when, in fact, it's not.
Kate Scott i'm guessing there were a couple families & stuff with maybe some kids, they would be more impressed by the fancy effects than her gorgeous voice, sadly. she did hit that note perfecty
I've seen this "live" and the audience has the same reaction.....my whole row screamed when she changed dresses...it's the Disney Magic on Broadway. Great show!
I love this port of Frozen to Broadway. You can tell that they REALLY put all they got into this. The set designs, the costumes, the special effects; its all amazing. I honestly went into this with semi-low expectations, thinking it would be lazy, but this is spectacular. Deserved more nominations
I love how Caissie's version is such a celebration of Elsa and this discovery of her freedom. It's such a contrast to Monster in the second act but is the perfect way to end the first act. (also the light design is brilliant woah)
Also Wow. I’m actually pretty impressed. Caissie is phenomenal and I love that she doesn’t try to be Idina Menzel, she’s her own Elsa. What a magical experience. Brava!
Damn, that quick change is so incredible! So perfectly timed and blocked and acted, and the effects used to highlight it... It's all unreal! I would do love to see it in person, I would lose my mind just as hard as this audience!
Holy crap, that performance was visually stunning! From the music to the costumes & the effects on stage, it was unbelievable . Everything looks so in sync & was very enjoyable to watch not to mention was surprising for me on some elements. I seriously hope this show starts going on tour cause I would love to see that show ☺️☺️
Total Disney snubs for sure. Frozen for sure deserved nominations for lighting, costumes, orchestrations and lead actress. How did Mean Girls get a costume nomination over Frozen? I'm so bitter.
Ali Y while both shows are absolutely amazing and I won’t try to pin them against each other, it’s really unfair that people, said Frozen came out late for it to receive nominations but Mean Girls started performances after Frozen did. The outfits in Mean Girls are beautiful but not as jaw dropping like they are here. Both shows are great but Frozen had plenty more amazing technical stuff.
RockyHorror Gleek exactly! And I love Tina Fey and want that show to do well, but the characters are still in street clothes. Caissie wears a dress that took more than 40 hours and more than 18,00 hand stitched beads and that doesn't even address Sven. They were totally snubbed on costumes :(
Ali Y completely agree! Every inch of the musical is beautiful! The characters in Mean Girls just wear more stylish high school esque clothing but it doesnt look like they had to make a lot of the clothing, especially for Jan amd Damien who legit just wear colorful street clothes. Every peice of fabric in Frozen is gorgeous. From The Coronation outfits, To their winter clothes, to Sven and Olaf, even the puppeteer for Olaf has an amazing outfit!
I know I was hoping she would throw it towards the audience and some lucky person would've caught it. Oh well this was still an amazing, beautiful, and spectacular performance. >w
I understand why she didn't throw it off, it's just that in the scene Elsa normally does as it's a big sign of her leaving her past behind. They do it on the Disney on stage version, it's just the only thing I think they should've tried to do.
Finally ! I found a perfect live enactment of Frozen "Let it go" No wonder it's called Broadway, that was amazing. The actress did brilliantly every single move was so in sync and meaningful and the set design was better than the disney shows ! the staircase, the perfect ice projected and everything was perfectly to beat. I didn't expect it to be this good and they NAILED the dress transformation too ! I was genuinely surprised. The musical artist was spot on with this, I am gonna go look up her name. This is my favourite Frozen live hands down. A few years back when I searched this, it wasn't there but now it is
I got to see this live and when that dress got ripped off her I about fell out of my chair it was so amazing. Like literally if you blink then you miss it. So cool.
I've seen it several times now and I lose my damn mind every single time! That quick change never gets old! And the fact that she's belting her face off while it happens, SO GOOD!
Oh I know. It's overwhelming how much is going on! I'm happy they filmed it so I could see all the things I missed when I saw it in NY. I had friends laugh at me when I said I paid for a ticket to frozen on Broadway and they still do, but they totally nailed it with the stage adaptation. I was really impressed! Not every movie gets translated to the stage as well as this one did.
I love it, but when you work with quick costume changes, it starts to lose the trill. You begin to see it as "oh, okay, they just did this and that" rather than "OMG, how awesome was that!" It can be exhausting after a while.
When I saw this show live, I was so excited for this song because of the snow and dress change! I was so in love with the lighting in this song! As someone who does lighting for my amateur theatre club, since starting doing it, I have been fascinated with watching how the professionals do it, so I can get ideas for my own shows, since usually I get to design the lights, with some ideas by the directors with what they want.
It's 2023 n this performance is still iconic ❤️🔥⛲shout out to the whole crew .. especially that's part when she changed her gown 🎉🎉woooowwww this is such a Master piece
Even though they put it down a key, it’s still so beautiful and impressive!! (And let’s be honest, Idina’s originel key is sooooo high and impossible for a lot of singers so probably for the best this way)
Plus Idina only had to record it. Caissie has to sing it live at least 8 times a week, plus do all the other songs in the show. They need to preserve that godly instrument she has
The belted note at the end in the original key is Eb that are woman who can belt up to soprano high C, it all depends on how you sing the song, pop singers like Ariana, Demi, can easily sing this, even Christina Aguilera could do it in her prime, for Beyoncé would also be easy, she sustain higher notes than this and can sing from the low tenor C to an E middle upper belt.
Real Voice the eb5 note originally is meant to be hit completely in chest register, that only few singers can do, most singers like beyonce, demi, ariana will mix their voice to hit that note.
Amazing performance. Cassie has a great voice and for me it exceeds the original version. My favourite bit is 03.28-03.36. All credit to the backstage guys for making this performance totally magical. I actually think the audience bring a further bit of magic to it.
What a part to play, I legit almost cried watching this because playing that role where kids are going to be staring at you in awe and the magic combined. It’s sublime. That quick change too!!! Xxx
The best part about live performances and especially this one is that the audience and the performer were feeding off each other and she was definitely gave it her all.
I saw this musical on Broadway with my sister! This was INCRDIBLE!! Everyone on the entire Frozen set and the cast did an amazing job putting this together! **Applause all around!**
Is it weird that I like this version of Elsa's transformation better than in the actual movie? Maybe it's just seeing it happening to a real live person, and the way the production uses some seriously cool blocking and wirework and screen/lighting effects to make almost literal magic happen on a stage. So amazing!!
My favorite thing about this is how everyone is just continuously LOSING IT
Amanda Ju - huh, it actually made me think, jeez, you lot are easily impressed by a few lighting effects! Yeap
Unsung hero's
And her vocal chords, too...😮
perfect performer with the perfect crew!!!!!!
And she sells it well
The quick change had me SHOOK
Ms. Keisha SO SHOOKETH
Ikr. Why couldn’t that happen when I had 4 quick changes in one play
That quick change...that is what I call Broadway Magic!!!
but she acted so little compared to elsa in the movie ..she also forgot to throw away the crow ...i guess it was valuous =)

How did they change her costume?
omg i wish i was there
@@vibhakv4374 cause she’s a Elsa

There’s a small hole that’s in the floor of the stage, and the breakaway dress is pulled through it
When she backs up to the stairs, all the fog hides her dress getting prepped for the tear away

I hate musicals, and I've never watched Frozen, but this is quite fantastic.

Hollie Atkins ikr lol, they just fly😂
Hollie Atkins it's Broadway magic 😉😉😉
It blew away in the wind

This quick change and the mean girls quick change are both fantastic
AND YET no nomination for Caissie Levy or for the Stage Design / Light Design? Unbelievable.
Total Disney snubs for sure. Frozen for sure deserved nominations for lighting, costumes, orchestrations and lead actress. How did Mean Girls get a costume nomination over Frozen? I'm so bitter.
Ali Y Exactly!! Mean Girls was great but how on earth does it have 10 noms when Frozen only has 3? I share in the bitterness.

THAT NOTE AT THE END

I know I was hoping she would throw it towards the audience and some lucky person would've caught it. Oh well this was still an amazing, beautiful, and spectacular performance. >w
It's pinned to the wig. Plus, it would shatter when it hit the ground, and that thing is expensive to replace.

That dress transition was pretty great, but I was disappointed they couldn’t pull off the THROUGH the shoulder braid😄
It was just so the arm didn't break off on the character. It's such a small error that no one notices.
