Try "The Traveller"from chris de burgh. Its a short song telling the story of Clint Eastwoods spagetti western "Hang em high". Or "Crusader" about the crusades, "Transmission Ends" about the risk of nuclear war, "Oh my brave hearts" about native Americans after they lost a final battle to the invading whitemen, or "The last time I cried" about the holocaust, or "Don't pay the Ferryman" about the voyage from life to death. He has many more brilliant stories in his collection over the years. Enjoy.

His first six albums are really good, especially the rockier one "The Getaway" (1982) is for me his best.

I once requested Don't Pay The Ferry Man, during a livestream, IIRC.

The song is from his second album "Spanish Train and other stories" which explains perfectly how each song on the album is a story, set to music. I still love the album as a whole. His first hit single in South Africa was "Lonely Sky" from the same album. The album was a huge hit, especially after it was banned by the South African Sensor Board for depicting Jesus Christ playing cards and chess. HIs first album was a huge hit in Brazil and was only released in South Africa after the success of Spanish Train. His next two albums also contained many stories, set to music (please listen to the song Crusader". His world wide his "Lady in red" was released a few years after the first few albums.
