I took advantage of the 1k trade in credit (Iphone 13 Pro Max). Got my Z Fold 5 for about 2 weeks now and its my first foldable. Ive always said i wanted to wait until they got the S Pen built in with a better camera however; the implementation of the S Pen case, folding flat and fine tune ups made me decide not to wait anymore. I do not regret it at all. Loving it so far!
Exactly the same. An embedded s-pen was my decision point but I folded (ho ho) when I saw the practicality of the case. Great decision and still enjoying the novelty factor three weeks in. The kindle is out of business and my tablet is collecting dust most days.

Same, about the s pen, but I'm still gonna wait and see what OnePlus does with their foldable because I loathe Samsung's software which is basically restricted a iOS with nonsense I don't need @*&£;£ Bixby.
Samsung made using the Galaxy Z Fold 5 a ton of fun, especially with added Good Lock applications in the form of keyboard customization!
I dont think k Fun would be a word to describe the fold..... Big screen yes, but where's the fun ? It's not as versatile as slab phones where you can hook it up to video equipment or a gimbal, etc...

Ok so I've had the phone for a little over a month and didn't even know about the in frame recording so tysm for pointing that out! I love your review this is so spot on idk what else could even be said it was so thorough and unbiased, I truly loved it and agree on all points made I'm going to look to see if you made a newer review about the battery life now!

@bigdrews4360 order from samsung and try it out for a week or 2 before making the decision! You don't have to send your trade in right away, and if you decide the 5 is not worth it, you just let them know and send it back. I ordered the exclusive Gray and decided it was very much worth the upgrade from the Fold 3 to the 5

Samsung zFolds are the best mobile device I've got two but unfortunately I still love my iPhone 13 mini as my main device
Fold 3 S-Pen still works as does S-Pen Pro. (Note 20 Ultra, Note Edge pins do not work as would be expected). Disagree about the camera; would love a Fold to have the Galaxy S Ultra camera series (then, I could switch to the Fold series exclusively). Traded Fold 3 for Fold 5; gave Fold 4 to my other half.
Alllll the needs is a bigger front screen. But I do love mine. Came from a fold 3
Front screen is fine. Its supposed to be one handed. Buy the s23 ultra if you want a screen like that.
@@kellymorton6001 No, that's whack. I have big hands so I can grip a regular phone size. A larger front screen with a folding phone would be ideal for me anyway.
I already ordered the iPhone 15+ after waffling between it and this phone. I am so tempted to cancel the order. I went with the iPhone because I figured I would never put the Fold 5 down at home and that would definitely cut down on the overall battery life a lot sooner. I have been trying to, use my tablet or laptop at home instead of my phone for that very reason.
I broke mine in 2 weeks and t model says they won't warranty it even tho it's warranty problem
Great video. Deciding between the fold 5 and flip 5 from a flip 3. Hard choice.
Try the Fold5. If you don't like it then return it for the Flip5.

I wish they upgrade the camera like what the Ultra have, and built in SPEN.
Did they fix the screen protector peeling off every few months and has to be fixed out of warranty or Samsung Care Plus and is also 😢 out of stick?
The screen protector should be given a lifetime free warranty as it is a product design defect. All Samsung foldables are facing this issue.

I've had several of the Folds and they have alllllllllll creased down the middle. I can't stand it.
As an iCloud email user, I cannot use the fold or android phones to access my iCloud email..That’s a deal breaker when I can’t reach my emails on such a big phone
You can use Icloud online, does it not let you add ICloud emails to gmail?
@@ethanrichold7425 you can't use it via Gmail or the other email apps. The double factor authentication doesn’t allow you to configure your iCloud into the app. iCloud online is not practical as you don’t get email notifications and need to log in manually to check on your emails.

Don't make that mistake.
My friends with iPhone 14 prefers photos on my ZFold 3 and loves the convenience of taking group shots and portraits with option for folks to look at them during the shot.
@@srsgonu that's because most people like the saturated photos that Samsung phones take in general. Also, there is a shutter lag when you take photos on a Samsung. Not always, but yes sometimes. Imagine clicking a photo thinking you captured the moment only to find out later that you either missed the damn shot or it came out blurry. Have been facing this on my S22+ since launch. The same issue lies with every Samsung device.
Therefore, choose wisely.
@shantanuranjandey317 they like not because of over saturation. They don't like being "orange" in their iPhone photos. Camera lag is fixed now using camera assistant.
@@srsgonu ok idk what you're talking about. My iphone doesn't take "orangeish" pictures. Also, please use an iphone and a Samsung side by side and you'll see the shutter lag. I can vouch for that because I own both and have extensively used both. To this day, there has not been a fix for that. Period.

Uhhh... So other then a few specific features only available for Samsung most of these features are available in the pixel fold... Still I do love the new look and they got the gap almost even and better. But still has similar features as the pixel fold.... You must compare folds to folds and not apple...
They've started downgrading fold 4 cameras... I didn't buy fold 5 but my phone photo quality is been downgraded... not as crisp and clean like when I got it
I'm a long time Note user. I currently have the S22 Ultra. I'm considering upgrading to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 or the Honor Magic V2. I didn't give a lot of thought to Samsung before checking out ur video, but now I'm reconsidering
I owned fold2 and fold3. As for me, 4 and 5 is still a disappointment and it doesn't worth to spend money on those "refinements". Let's see what fold6 will bring us
As someone who used the Fold 3 for 18+ months, the Fold 5 is very polished! The wider front screen, lighter and thinner design, the great cameras, not to mention the sexy sexy hinge that not only makes the phone thinner and better looking but feels sooooooo freaking smooth. (We will see how it holds up with time), but for me, it has very much been worth it!
It’s ridiculous that the consumer needs to upgrade every year whilst they make incremental improvements when the hinge design could be done right, from the start … Samsung trade values are also horrible and they do not make it any more reasonable for existing customers to upgrade, I’m done with foldables and their soft screens
@@howardsmith2925I upgraded from the fold 3 as well And I completely agree all the way, Even the battery life has impressed me. Working 12-hour shifts taking it off the charger in the morning at 100% and by the time I get home you usually around 65 to 55%.( Currently typing on my fold 5)😂
@howardsmith2925 am still holding Fold 3 and debating whether to upgrade or not. On paper, I thought it was not much of an upgrade. Please share your experience wrt battery life, performance, and handling compared to Fold 3. Thanks.
@srsgonu it's great. My favorite parts are definitely the cover screen (a tad bit wider and shorter than the 3), and the battery is amazing. I used to end my day around 30% on my Fold 3, and now my phone is usually around 50% when I get home. The performance is top-notch and the slimmer, lighter form factor is great for in the pocket feeling as well as when you are using the device folded.
Had mine for about 2 weeks now and I would never go back. You just need to use one of these devices for a few days and the thought of a regular phone is awful. My wife who is not in the least techie has been green with envy from the moment she had a go with it. From my cold dead hands would you get by Z fold 5.
Too rich for my blood. But it sounds like a good phone.
Other foldable Android phones are great options. Why does Samsung still assume they are the only company making foldable?

I only have 1 question: Does it last 3-4 years without needing for multiple times of repair? I don't change my phone so often, the regular phone factor is good for at least 3 years.
I'm going on 2 years for my fold 3 no issues was gonna get a fold 5 but decided since nothing is wrong with my 3 I'll hold out til the 6

I had mine less than 1 year and first screen protector started coming loose at the fold, then screen lcd started getting black spots. Samsung will refuse to warranty repair these phones for the smallest excuse. On my phone there was some color worn away in one corner of the metal frame, just from normal pocket wear. Samsung called it “mechanical damage” and refused to fix my screen. That’s unethical in my opinion.. these screens are well known to fall apart, and Samsung won’t stand behind them and at least repair them under warranty. In fact they won’t repair them at any price, so now I have a $1600 hunk of Samsung trash.

I think they are serious. 5 generations of fold indicates that.
Their priority is to make the form factor functional and comfortable first before they start adding extras.
The S Pen being included might have to be a separate version because of the space needed

5 iterations, and they still dont know what their product is for? They still have yet to act on the first points of feedback. There's a history of people raising my exact critiques back at like fold 2..
Look, im a digital artist, the prospect of having a tablet handy in my pocket at all times is INSANELY POWERFUL, yet in practice im forking out $3k to make it feasible, and most apps still just run mobile UI instead of full tablet anyway (which is basically a stripped down 'lite' version).
At this rate, you might as well save $2k and just get a regular tablet. Exactly what is this product "for" besides the gimmick of being foldable.
Any phone can have screen space. Any phone can have a fast cpu and higher rez camera. Apparently, the S20's have had a slot for their stylus for a few years, so whats going on? What are you doing, samsung? I want to love the fold,i want it to revolutionise my work, but it's gotta step up. In their current state i would say get the S24 ultra and save your money.

@@courtneymahan-quarles5497 Samsung costs way more than all of them, they come with chargers and cases in the box, more ram standard, wider front screen and better cameras, less of a crease and ind the cases of the Oppo Find N3/OnePlus Open, far superior multitasking. That's why!

The fold 5 is a piece of junk. It won't connect to wi fi. So I ended up smashing mine to bits.
