Just one thing for the beginning - Smartphones got so expensive because we no longer "have" any reason to upgrade 3-4 years old device unless you are gamer, and modern adult gamers are fine with spending hard earned money for overpriced stuff like Gacha games, 2000€ gpus etc. Just fans and the case in my current PC costed me more than my first "gaming" PC I got for good grades back in the day, when I was in the middle school and it's not any flex, just the current situation in the gaming hardware industry. S21Ultra (SD one) is still an amazing phone, completely fine with normal person daily usage. Camera is amazing, battery lasts for few days if you are using it only for chats and occasional web browsing, and even then you can charge it back from low % to full in about an hour. It's waterproof to the point that I was diving and doing some underwater clips up to 10m without any problems. Why would you upgrade S21U to modern flagships, what would be reason other than just having few more fps in the games such as Genshin, Honkai or Pubg ? Back in the day when we had S2, S3, S4 etc. Each smartphone felt like a huge step forward. Everything was greatly improved from gen to gen. Now ? Fold4 is literally little slower Fold5. S21U is literally slower S23U without the Spen. Unless you need the fastest SoC on the market to have the perfect performance in modern games, you are more than fine to keep your flagship for at least 5 years, which means 2000€ for a device is pretty much new standard. Instead of paying 1000€ every year or two, you are just paying 2000€ every 4 or 5 years.

Same here. All these reviewers talk shit on the thin outer screen. Personally, I think they are just repeating what they have heard because I absolutely love how it feels in the hand, and how easy it is to reach everything. I have grown tired of apple's proprietary BS. When I buy something it's mine, I'll do with it what I wish.
I have a Fold2 and actually gaming on it is a very smooth experience. I've used my phone to play stuff like Genshin Impact and CoD Mobile at the maximum possible graphic settings, I've used it for 3DS emulation (which you can set up to have 1 screen on each side of the fold, you can put it in a laptop-type position on a table coupled with a controller and its a great experience) and I've also used it for Remote Play with my PS5, and in all 3 use cases, I had no problems. I'm saving up to upgrade to the Fold5 in January or so since its about time to finally upgrade. I will say that I'm typing on my Fold2 almost THREE YEARS LATER and its still going strong (except the camera is now faulty as a result of me dropping it, but thats my fault) for the most part. Still folds and closes with no issue, etc, etc.
Nah just the Opposite it's amazing to game on you will never ever wanna go back to a normal slab phone. Gaming and watching media content is amazing on this phone and its unlike any other phone in the US.
@easezgin oh yeah very true, games and old shows with 4:3 aspect ratios are actually, surprisingly, some of the best things to watch on the Fold's screen because it literally fills the entire screen up
For games that don't work well with the boxy display (you mention Genshin Impact), you always have the option to change the aspect ratio of the game to 4x3 or 16x9. Sure, you won't be using the whole screen but you will have the best possible gaming experience. 4x3 is usually well understood by most games for some reason and the lost space is very minimal. This parameter is adjustable for each installed app in the settings/Display/Full Screen Apps. Each app can be either full screen (default), 4x3 or 16x9.
I actually had to set cod mobile to run 16:9 as when I ran it full screen even while using an Xbox controller for some reason it was affecting my controls, specifically I couldn't sprint
Love the front screen personally, more minimalistic approach to life with less distractions. Open up to the internal display when you want to indulge. Works wonders!
Bixby routines are small but it's something that I've come to depend. For example I go to class twice a week. My phone automatically mute when I get there, and automatically unmute when I leave.
I see a lot of people complain about the skinny screen and having to open the phone to use it for most things comfortably. I think it's fair to say that samsung does that on purpose. How are you going to get a bang for your buck if you can primarily use the main screen for most things satisfactorily? The main seller of this is the huge main screen, so of course they'd want to make it so you prioritize using the internal display. Personally, the outer display I like for quick messaging checks. Everything else is best on the internal display, and I love that.

Got my Fold 5 a couple days ago. One thing that reviewers have made a chicken out of a feather of is typing on the outer screen. Yeah, it is smaller than your standard candybar phone, and you may mistype occasionally, but it's nowhere as horrendous as people are lead to believe. On this note, typing on the big screen with the gap in the middle was waaaaayyy easier to get used to than I thought it would be.
I been rocking the Flip 1, day one edition. Till this day, I might now upgrade to the 5, was waiting for fold to get better and I think its perfect now. What you think? Yes my flip is running still like a champ
4 hours max, from new? Ouch, the resale value of this thing after a year of hard use, would be minimal if it didn't resist turning off at 30% battery life when the camera is used.
Samsung Galaxy mania for 15 years, I had Fold 4 for myself for 6 months. Never going back to Folds. Probably. Here is something to consider before buying the Folds. Fun device but their screen protector they put on the main screen just doesnt work. and I had to visit repair shop 3 times in 2 month (2hours per visit) to reattach the screen protector they put on the main screen because it makes a huge bubble line around the hinge area where it folds because the film around that area just cant hold onto the screen. Two weeks later, bubble came back for the 4th time. Samsung offer me to mail the phone for repair so I can save trips but tells me it's gonna take more than two weeks to get it back. As an individual who uses phone for most of my business, thats just not an option. Samsung put the screen protector thats not working and they will void the warranty if you take them off. I lost lot of time and money due to the experience. If you got better things to do other than routinely visiting repair shop every other week, this is not for you.
You might want to get that unit checked. I just got the ZFold 5 and either UI One fixed all those issues you've been having or you gotta get that unit replaced. I know I've had to return some devices right away after I unbox them. Faulty units.
1:06 let's be fair & honest about that, any phone is going to wiggle out if you have shallow pockets, don't just tell a small portion of the relevant facts, that said it's a pretty nice phone, they could stand to reduce the price, and for that price you should get at least 512 gb storage, 256 just isn't enough anymore
Utterly TOP review, mate!! Great stuff and honest but inspiring - after 10 years with Apple Im finally sick of the crap thats associated with using one for work music and play! Looks like now the Z Fold5 will be my escape route form Apple Prison. Thanks a ton for this! Left the UK in '89 - and dont hear enough Geordie accents over here in Malaysia! Sweet!
We just ordered ours yesterday and T-Mobile told us when they come in they'll install a liquid glass protector on the interior screen for us before we leave the store then the outer screen uses a standard one. The cases we've ordered have built in screen protectors for the outer screen
I'm still really undecided about switching to this phone from my Flip 4. The Flip 4 was my first bendy boi, and while I've enjoyed it? I realized my eyesight is terrible and watching a video with it propped open is Not Optimal. I still owe quite a good bit on this one, so getting essentially nil on a trade-in feels like I'm wading further into a trap. This phone falls squarely into the "I don't need it, I shouldn't get it, but I REALLY want it" category.
z fold 3 is like the note10+ it's the phone everyone kept years later until the fold dropped. looks like most of everyone will be holding on to their fold 3😬
I was going to do the same with my fold 3 but thought f it and upgraded anyway, very glad I did as lots of things on the 5 are so much more refined that it makes the experience better in every way
Does the inner screen on this one crack easy? My fold 2 has scratches/cracks going right down the middle where it folds. Also, is this as durable? Mine has been through it lmao, worst fall has been flying off my motorcycle around 70-80ish mph. Granted it hit me before the floor but still 😂
I'm gonna guess that Samsung wants the inner screen to be the main screen that's why the outer screen is so narrow...makes sense I think because it's a foldable phone
The recurring complaint of typing on the front screen is so annoying. I'm currently typing on the front screen of the Z Fold 5 with absolutely no issue. It's not the screen size or the keyboard size. I have the fold 5, and it's just true bliss. You guys have to try it
All I really want is a compact manga reading machine that also doubles as a daily driver, and for that foldable devices are perfect.
I wish foldables got popular enough to have their own budget versions.
Secret sauce
Literally the only reason I want this
I'm sure they'll become affordable eventually. That's why I'm hoping Apple comes out with one soon to 'normalize' them
@@Deshonrados I use my mini ipad 6 for Manga and Graphic Novels
Do u really think apple will be able to normalize. Apple will take the prices to another level
5:34 Reading comics and mangas on that big screen has to feel amazing. Never thought of this advantage before.
I Love my z fold 5 .it's slim and big when opened. It's the best .
can u tell me where u got the front wallpaper cover display i love anime -
It's the ability to multitask for me ,plus getting a tablet and a phone all in one .
I upgraded from the S20 ultra 5G to the z fold 5..nothing but happiness. Just wish all of my decisions were as good.
Funny, as my daily driver I also use a S20 Ultra and thinking of switching to a Z fold. How do they compare?
I keep my fold open 95% of the time and use a little leather case to carry it. Only makes sense to use it in open mode.
I just received the Fold 5 and it is a major improvement from the Fold 4
Liar
Wold you mind sharing the backgrounds on your phone? Bought a fold today
I love this phone. Made the swtich from apple 14 pro and long-time user since the 4th... lol. It arrived 4 days before the release on Friday. As soon as I transferred all my stuff, I realized how darn boring apple can be lol. I have never made the switch to samsung judt because i couldn't get used to the other phones. The fact that i didn't even see the phone up close, it makes it more perfect. 😂 not going back. Made the perfect choice!!
I upgraded from the fold 3 to the 5 and i love it, couldnt beat the discount so i got the 5, watch 6 classic 47mm and a case with the extra 50 off less than what you would pay for the 5 by itself
How's the outer screen experience?
@RealhotboyD In my opinion, it could be a little bigger but im fine with it
@@HellcatFit Thanks! I'm used larger screens. But the questions is about typing experience and navigation
Just pre-ordered mine refresh trade in my 4 for the 5 (02 if U have / had pre-orderd the gift this year is upgrade to 512gb!) Can't wait to get was blown away very happy with software screen resolution processor on the 4 but the size and weight was too much so the 5 being slimmer and lighter is perfect ✌️😎✌️
Anyone got a link to that wallpaper? cannot find it.
How is camera of this phone
Got my Fold 5 a couple days ago. One thing that reviewers have made a chicken out of a feather of is typing on the outer screen. Yeah, it is smaller than your standard candybar phone, and you may mistype occasionally, but it's nowhere as horrendous as people are lead to believe.
On this note, typing on the big screen with the gap in the middle was waaaaayyy easier to get used to than I thought it would be.
I've got a feeling they will add a slot for s pen next
i love mines ❤❤❤❤❤ i love how it opens and closes like a book! I also have a phone case
I've upgraded from Fold2 to Fold5! Absolutely in love with it has anyone' else upgraded from Fold2? How are you finding the new phone? 😀
Did you say it is or is not micro-SD card capable?
Nice wallpapers. Is it difficult to find wallpapers optimized for the front and unfolded displays?
I’m coming from an iPhone 14 Pro Max to a fold and I’m nervous but excited!
I been rocking the Flip 1, day one edition. Till this day, I might now upgrade to the 5, was waiting for fold to get better and I think its perfect now. What you think? Yes my flip is running still like a champ
You're my new favorite tech reviewer
I love love the outer screen! It fits in my small hands and it's great for quick check-ins. I hope they keep it the way it is.
So what's the difference between the fold 4 and 5?
1:06 let's be fair & honest about that, any phone is going to wiggle out if you have shallow pockets, don't just tell a small portion of the relevant facts, that said it's a pretty nice phone, they could stand to reduce the price, and for that price you should get at least 512 gb storage, 256 just isn't enough anymore
I really just wish it had dust protection and a better under display camera.
Sweet!
I just wish the outer display was wider
So do i get a z fold 4 for my first ever samsung? Iphone user all my life and looking forward to trying something new
A great review and thanks for taking the time and effort to make it. and a BIG thumbs up, Cheers.
What type of computer chair do you have?
im thinking of switching from apple to the fold. My issue with this is will it last me years?
Watching on my fold 5. 🤙
Quick question, does the fold have a screen protector installed on it already? Both screens? Thank you so much for your time! Great video!
We just ordered ours yesterday and T-Mobile told us when they come in they'll install a liquid glass protector on the interior screen for us before we leave the store then the outer screen uses a standard one. The cases we've ordered have built in screen protectors for the outer screen
Love your reviews man, soo much better than those lame mainstream cookie cutter reviewers.
Im just glad theyre using current gen cpus instead of old ones.
All they need to do is keep making it thinner & making the crease less noticeable
Why did you finance a phone lol. Don't but what you cant payoff.
Which better? This or huawei x3?
And great thanks for all the valuable comments
Have they fix the problems with the fold ? My 3 gave me so many issues, I think im going to the S23 ultra
Wait for galaxy s24 or buy this one?
i like your phone wallpaper, where did you get it?
Where do you get the pen?
does it has a screen protector for the inside
Can you post where you get your wallpapers?
pls write down the watch model youre wearing thx
"the galaxy Fold like deep pockets..." true in more than one way ;)
I can’t wait to get mine tomorrow 😭 I feel like the whole world got them before the UK haha
Rich kids
Got more money than sense 😂
@@CodPaytmyes you are right 😅
I like Samsung flagship s23U..
One day i am buy one..😊🎉❤
I am from sri Lanka 🙂🖐
I've had mince since Monday 7th and I'm in the UK.. pre-ordered mine from Samsung in the exclusive Grey colour 👍🏻
Got mine Monday! I love it so far. It is a big boy though. Even bigger with the s-pen case.
the review we've all been waiting for
z fold 3 is like the note10+ it's the phone everyone kept years later until the fold dropped. looks like most of everyone will be holding on to their fold 3😬
I was going to do the same with my fold 3 but thought f it and upgraded anyway, very glad I did as lots of things on the 5 are so much more refined that it makes the experience better in every way
Is that a wallpaper or custom launcher???
I don't understand why all fold screens are square. Videos haven't been filmed in square resolutions for over 2 decades
Which one you prefer? Fold 5 or pixel fold?
I got the fold 4 and as much as I like it I don't think I use the big screen as much I like the front screen
I like the narrow design because can grip in one hand.
If you have Fold 4: skip Fold 5
If you have Fold3: buy Fold 4
There are many tech reviewers on UA-cam, but none have a vocabulary as colorful as Chris 😂
What app do you use for Manga? I can’t tell from the video.
This review was hilarious and informative!! Thank you.
Does the inner screen on this one crack easy? My fold 2 has scratches/cracks going right down the middle where it folds. Also, is this as durable? Mine has been through it lmao, worst fall has been flying off my motorcycle around 70-80ish mph. Granted it hit me before the floor but still 😂
one plus fold out soon are yer doing a vid of it???
Is this phone overall better than the s23 ultra?
I'm gonna guess that Samsung wants the inner screen to be the main screen that's why the outer screen is so narrow...makes sense I think because it's a foldable phone
Great review
The recurring complaint of typing on the front screen is so annoying. I'm currently typing on the front screen of the Z Fold 5 with absolutely no issue. It's not the screen size or the keyboard size. It's the user. In fact, I can type faster on this little keyboard (GBoard set to extra small in settings) than I can on the larger one when the screen is open.
Did you make a lot of spelling errors tho? Your comment is edited. How large or small are your hands?
@@asian2go96 I don't make a lot of errors on the keyboard. My hands are an average size for an adult male. I edited my comment to add a sentence to make my statement more clear. (I typed this reply with the front display keyboard)
Bro where the heck did you get the wallpaper
Pretty nice besides the 256gb! Is this 2014 storage? I guess they must have connections with the monthly surcharge storage from Google.
