The Sorcery market is inversly related to the Magic market. The reason Sorcery exists at all is that Hasbro / WotC made mistake after mistake, driving their customer base away into other card games. The Sorcery team realizes this and that's why they are hyper focused on making the quality of the game and the cards as high as possible. Keeping print runs tight, not doing too many promos, keeping set sizes big at 350 cards per set or more, and keeping the schedule of 1 set per year, and making sure that the art is all handmade puts Sorcery head and shoulders above the competition. So many collectors were burned on alternative cardgames that they are still approach Sorcery with caution. Let's see where Sorcery is after 5 years. I believe that is the mark of a successful ccg. If they can last 5 years without losing a massive amount of players and collectors, they can last 10, or 20. But the first 5 years is going to be the most challenging. Yes they need more marketing, but mostly in the form of more How to Play videos. The one good how to play Sorcery video we have is great! We need more!!
Premier Card Grading for the win! I’ve been enjoying their process, pricing, and player slabs more than any other grading company. Foil alpha avatars in player slabs to play with is a blast to bring collectability into the playing experience! Love the discussion and your collection Louie!
indeed, from a collector perspective it is a really fun time. from a content persperctive it is a bit tough. curious about what you paid for the beta foil set 🤔. slow pace suits my way of collecting, though! 👊🏻
Sorcery (both the game and the collecting is very fun). I lack the means to collect full foil sets but I got playset foils of all the water cards in beta (minus the stupid sea raiders because they got short printed and I don't want them that badly). I'm going to ride or die with my Waveshaper deck! Plan to keep collecting all the water foils going forward. Water can't suck forever right? Right Eric??? 🤣
Love collecting Sorcery. There is no play environment at my LGS, but that is ok because I get a lot of enjoyment just out of the collecting. I have full non-foil Alpha and Beta sets and like chasing the various promos, sorting cards, and other oddities. I am not in a position to go for foil sets or the crazy high end stuff like curios and Relentess Crowd, but I will fill in everything else that I can. It is very cool that some new stuff is going to be at Gen Con and I look forward to getting my hands on those. If I can get lucky I hope I might be able to find a reasonably priced Melissa Benson Alpha foil to get her to sign. I was excited to get Tony to sign my Alpha foil Raise Dead (iconic Sorcery art in my opinion) but alas, I will have to catch him somewhere else.
We had a hint of what would happen to the price of singles when when Team Covenant announced they were out of stock late spring. The reprints cut that pricing back down, but when they officially announce Beta as being out of print it will happen again. Arthurian Legends will also pull people into the game, who will need those cards. So we have a very short window, right now, to buy at the lowest prices. I already have my set so I don't need more, but if I was a flipper I would be buying up my inventory while Stones are around 100, Cores are at 40, and playable foils are still affordable.
I love the ONE single set per year. I have a family, work commitments, etc. Time is my issue. I like the slow paced vibe of Sorcery. I hate how MTG has gone down a release frenzy policy. Sorcery gives me the old 90's magical nostalgia feeling MTG gave us in that early and golden era. This is why I only collect oldschool MTG singles and don't even touch the new stuff. However Sorcery is new but I feel they respect the collecting culture.

I don't think your right with Sorcery. Do some research before saying things like that. One glance at markets tell a VERY different story. Are you mad that Sorcery is a wanted product? Obviously you would have the basic knowledge to view markets right? Whats your story friend
This made me want to buy a beta set haha. Cards are gorgeous. Will the reprint beta boxes and cards be different at all or is it all 100% the same as first print beta?
I think the reason this lull feels so long between sets is because Alpha set shipped to backers in May of 2023 and when Beta shipped later that year in October it wasnt a new set with different cards but a beta printing of the original product that non-backers could get their hands on. If you are a KS backer though it feels like a year and a half by the time AL comes out so those parts of the Sorcery Community are probably growing weary due to the lack of cards. If you were all in on sorcery before the KS even completed and took part in the TTS prealpha (over 2 years ago) to help play test the game you're probably even more tired of looking at the same cards since then. Only people it feels like an actual year between releases for is Beta purchasers LOL
