I in my 36 years of living have never heard WVU referred to as “West Vah”. I’ve now heard it 42 times in 14 mins.
I have saw it in newspapers as an abbreviation but never said outloud
WVU fan here...love IOWA State-Great Fans- I think they have a good football team, but so do we- best of luck... may the best team win on Saturday. My prediction.....Cue Country Roads!

@seanmulligan3037 Never said he didn't give good insight, but as a West Virginian and a WVU fan it's irksome, no one calls West Virginia that. It would be like someone always calling you "Sha" instead of "Sean", it would more than likely get old to you.

You might want to know more about Iowa State before previewing them. Abu Sama isn't RB1 right now. Jackson is RB1 AND Hanson and Sama are also going to take snaps. That combo of RBs put up way over 200 yds of rushing last week at over 6yds/rush.

@CouzsCornerSports I get that, but to say state "doesn't really have a run game" is false. They were literally 5 yards shy of having 2 100-yard rushers last week. On top of 2 100-yard receivers. They happen to be one of the most balanced run/pass teams in the country. 1200 yds passing 900 yds rushing this season so far
Iowa State runs a 3-3-5 so of course their "front 7" is going to have poor stats, they're missing a player!
We also are missing our top 5 or 6 linebackers. We are starting a walk-on Redshirt Fr MLB. That said he played fairly well last week in his first real snaps.
I appreciate the research you put in, you guys are some of the few that doesn't just make assumptions and actually does the research to find out who has the better chance of winning, but please for the love of everything, do not call us West Vaa. We are West Virginia not Western Virginia or anything to do with the state of Virginia. West Virginia, WVU, WV, Mountaineers, any will do just not West Vaa

It was October 13, 2018 and WVU was 5-0 and ranked #6 in the nation. WVU visited Ames, IA to play the underdog ISU Cyclones for a Saturday night game. With freshman QB Brock Purdy, ISU handed WVU its first loss 30-14. Can WVU return the favor in Morgantown this Saturday night at 8 pm on Fox TV?
I was at that game and trust me - it's been on my mind all week.

This game with Iowa St is a flip of the script from 2018. In 2018 we went to Ames, highly ranked, and for a primetime game at night . . And laid an egg. Sooo, this year Iowa St. comes to Morgantown, highly ranked for a primetime game at night! Anddd it's their turn to lay an egg and for us to knock off a good ranked opponent for once. This is gonna be huge!
WVU has 2 Great Qbs - you knock out green . You get the Arizona football player of the year Nicco Marcio 4 star whos 4-0 in games hes started . Will be the starter with out a doubt Saturday ... he came in for green 3rd play through a perfect spiral TD Pass . WVU is battle tested - penn state - pitt - at ok state . WVU will not be a push over ..😊

So about the West Vaaaah. West Virginians hate the W Va abbreviation. Virginia is VA. West Virginia is WV, and our university is WVU. So I don’t mean to sound condescending, but if you are looking for a way to shorten it or have a different abbreviation I offer “Dub V” or “The Dub V” (not in a Ohio St THEEE either). Sorry, we just like to have as much separation from Virginia as possible.

WV secondary looked good against OSU because of Bowman - that's it. They guys apparently haven't seen Jaylon "Action" Jackson either. ISU was down 2 O-lineman the first half of the season, one back now. Also had injuries to 9 of their 11 starting defense players and still not all healthy yet their 5-0 due to one of the best D coordinators in the country.
I’m a Cyclone and I promise, I will never, ever say, “West Va.”

The ISU line is getting some push. 200+ yards rushing the last 3 games…but most of the negatives on rush D is that ISU gives up 1-3 big gainers on the ground, BUT 85-90% of opponents runs go nowhere. Example, Iowas Caleb Johnson had 187 yards on 25 carries. 155 was on 4 runs….
Much respect to ISU and what theyve accomplished this season. Much respect for the coaching staff, but their greatest asset is their fanbase.

The 85 grades in pass and run blocking are interesting. I read an article today talking about just how balanced WVU is joining OSU, Penn State and 2 other P4 teams that have 245+ rushing and passing per game.

It's West Virginia, there's a state sports broadcaster who keeps referring to our local team as Park South instead of Parkersburg South, it comes of as lazy.
This is WVU's toughest team in the big 12 that they will probably play. So I don't think WVU has a chance unless they totally get there stuff together.
I don’t believe Iowa state is really that good. The only decent team they have played is Iowa. We will see in Morgantown though how things go.
