Thanks for the memories - I played there in a couple bands between 1979 and 1983 (my last time there) It really was a big deal to get a gig there, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
thanks for trip down memory lane - last time I was in there was a month or two before they closed on 10/15/06 - was early in the afternoon and just had a whiskey and took it all in - now I can buy an expensive t-shirt there
Early 90’s... I remember being here New Years Eve 1993 to 94. Alice Donut, God is My Copilot, Hexis Plex. Went there a bunch around that time. Lunachicks and others. Also would go to the 313 gallery next door. Medeski Martin & Wood, Mark Ribot. Ahhh when NYC was cool.
🥷🏻💬Great viewing. I want to express my utmost gratitude. If this place reproduced in Japan, even at the top of Mt.Fuji, I will be overjoyed and rushing into there.
WHAT A MEMORY OF A GEM THE REAL MUSIC PLACE! My Best Friend MONDO BECK told me stories of craziness with punk bands being there. He was a well known Skater with Tony Alva and Skoundrelz and Bones. Not sure if it was all at the same time when he was a Radical Skater but. surely an amazing time! Wish Id have been able to be there in that artistic revolutionary period of PUNK. Happy to have seen this. RIP MONDO 2/4/21🖕🤬
Fuck I flew into Newark a couple years ago and there was some sort of cbgb's themed bar or something in the fucking airport. Fucking gross. Cheers to CB's and also to my beloved and also departed Rat. while Im at it RIP to Portlands Satyricon too. Saw many great shows in those clubs.
For the record John wasn’t the reason cb’s closed .. it was the land lord John at least preserved what remnants we left behind Hell, my boots are still hanging from the ceiling
@@jamiegorman5608 yea not saying John was the reason, saying the whole situation sucks and also having a fashion company in there is not a good look. That's amazing about the boots btw
No it’s not-it’s a men’s clothing store. I was there this week and the staff was amazing. Took us on a tour and we spent an hour looking at the walls and flyers and photographs.

if walls could talk...
If porn actresses vaginas could talk...
Basement of old 9:30 in DC was nearly as bad.
Main room smelled of vomit, beer mould, and rat urine.
Walls would say, "Please clean me. "

My home away from home from 1977 till 1979. Memories everywhere! Back when hanging out with Stiv Bators was everything to an 18 year old girl 😻😎
Dead Boys was always a good show.

Back in the 70's it didn't seem so gritty
But I was young then ha
That is because the rest of NYC was just as bad.
Now NY is a Disney version of itself.

I can’t believe people moshed in a place so tiny 💀

I walk into the store that’s there now & its sad
At least it's still rock and roll culture instead of another useless vape and bake place.
