I had a slight doubt that the self titled album cover wall looked like it could be a tad off . After reading some comments it appears I wasn’t alone . It’s tough to match up 40 year old walls but seems like I was on opposite side of the little garden from where it was . Anyone in the area should go confirm and document it . Clearly the opinions online are incorrect

I think you have the wall right. It is that side, however, if you were to go to 9:14 in your video, do you see in the upper right corner of that capture the indentation (the line of protruding brick) in the wall? Perhaps those plants were not there and this is where they might have stood. What do you think?

Im a lifelong New Yorker. I once was walking by the club just as Hilly was opening the doors at about noon. I asked him if I could hang out and have a few beers, and I wouldn't bother him. We walked in and I drank some beers as he did paperwork and made phone calls. I was quiet and didn't bother him. I had the whole place to myself and walked around. Great memory.

Hi Adam, it’s Larry from the tribute band Sedated. Saw you at the Chili Cook Off. CBGB’s was where the Dead Boys played and had a residency in the 70s. You said you never heard of them. They were the feature band in the movie CBGB from 2013. Highly recommended you watch that. Haha I had to go to 53rd and 3rd also! Was able to go inside CB’s in 2005 and shortly after they closed.

For sure it’s a very nice pedestrian city.. I walk many times from Battery Park all the way to Central Park and once from Brooklyn Bridge to Harlem.. You get your steps in, for sure.. But also a very easy city to drive in, because of all the one way streets.. I’ve been overthere 5 times.. and 2 times I rented a Mustang and drove around on Manhattan with the roof down.. Pretty fun..😎 Love that city 😍

And to bad you didn’t stay or go back to queens (Forest Hills) there is the famous and dedication mural of the Ramones, there is also where one of their first practice spaces was. Also, That concrete Marking outside of cb’s was later on added to mark the area. *Dear Woo, that 90 degree corner in the brick leads me to question if that was really the wall the photo was taken in front of. I can't see any reason why the brickwork would have been changed and it doesn't look like it was changed either, Enlarging the image appears to show writing on the side of the projection as well so I don't believe it is just an optical illusion. Also, the foundation the bricks are resting on seems notably higher than the current image. Who knows but still a cool city garden find!* 10:08

Yes. I remember helping a friend and his band mates loading in through the front. We sat there for hours in a basically empty venue waiting to go on. "You guys are next" is all we kept hearing. Midnight came around and they finally told us. No deal, come back another night maybe. Sucked, but that's just the way it was. The bathroom was epic. The hallway leading to it looked like something out of a horror movie. Saw the biggest rat I've ever seen crawl out of the wall in there. 😂

I had a picture of the old bathroom and of one of the Gabba Gabba Hey signs. When I was outside, a woman offered to show me where the picture from the first album was taken. It was 9 pm and a stranger was taking me through the area in the dark to show me the location. You are pretty accurate with that brick wall. I had to look through the fence to see it. Thank you Adam. I actually watched a segment where Mr. Varvatos stated the importance of preserving at least some of the original interior. I suppose that's more than you can say for some. STILL... American musical history was born here. It is a landmark of a major aspect of our culture. It's too bad it couldn't be preserved in a more meaningful and significant way. It’s nice to see your video but also makes me sad and yearn for the gritty days of the 70’s New York. The Ramones were great and have achieved a mainstream audience now but we that know them in their hey day will never forget them. I got to see them once at the state fair in Detroit. Not their heyday but at least I can say I saw them. Gabba gabba hey!

My good friend and greatest tour guide, Adam the Woo. You're here in New York city filming your videos with such beautiful weather & I that walked those streets have not had the honor of meeting you yet. You see Adam, I live in the Bronx which you visited days before. You went to the new Yankee stadium and checked some places here. I was a bit sad because I've been wanting to meet you in person and thank you for all you've done for us, but hey, it is what it is. One day I will get to shake your hand and thank you personally for been the best You Tuber ever. God bless you my friend and keep that energetic spirit and adventurous soul. We will continue to travel along with you & cherish the memories. Thank you Adam!! ✌👍🏻🙏🏼
Adam, I see that you're wearing a Night of the Creeps t-shirt. That's one of my older brother's favorite horror flicks of all time.

Had no idea you had a video on cbgb but I should have figured. Cbgb was a place my friends and I would always talk about when we went to the ko ko nest in costa mesa another punk venue. I have a book with great pictures of the inside and the legendary bathrooms. The first awning was vandalized so bad that Hilly just threw it out the second one an employee of cbgb saw a box near the dumpster and saw that it was the awning so he took it. After it closed in 2006 and the rock and roll hall of fame took the third one he sold his for 35,000 dollars and now the owner of the punk rock museum here in Vegas is trying to buy it and he tracked down the plaza hotel sign. Our old mayor here in Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman the best mayor ever talked Hilly into moving here and gave him a great property close to what is the punk rock museum now. There’s a video of Hilly and Goodman pretty much finalizing the deal then Hilly died. When he started cbgb the rent was 600 dollars the last year he had the club it was 32,000 a month and then they were raising it again. Yes the movie is great and Hilly is played by that one main guy in harry potter and the guitarist from the dead boys was Harry’s best friend. Also Hillys daughter was played by the one awesome vampire in Twilight. Great video

I got to play there once with my punk band in 97..and I used to go to Hardcore shows there..that was another thing to mention is NYHC and cbgb goes hand and hand for sure…I was at the last cbgb hardcore matinee and I was the last one to walk out besides workers.I walked around and took it all in before I walked out.I went back when it first opened up as the pretentious store and I ran into the basement to check out the bathrooms once again..Also you were right at niagra where the mural is.That is the A7 venue from the early 80s and that is the birthplace of NYHC before cbgb had crazy hardcore matinee. There is a cool plaque inside of niagra to commemorate the bands that used to play there and they would start around midnight and go to 6 am..Not sure if your a hardcore guy but that is some important info as well…and oh yeah FUCK GENTRIFICATION

I had the pleasure of seeing The Ramones in person at the El Dorado Saloon in Carmichael California near Sacramento in 1986. I literally stood against the tiny low profile tiny nightclub stage in the shopping center strip mall club venue that was packed shoulder to shoulder. I kept getting slapped across the face with Joey Ramone's leather jacket metal studs and zippers and having sweat slung on me since I was literally inches away. It was GLORIOUS!
