Totally agree, pal. I'm 32 and actually in Russia all we had on TV was later years of wcw, 1998+, so this theme was the only one I knew and associated with Bret. Later on I found out his original one from wwf was different after playing a wrestling game on Sega:)
This was one of the best wrestling themes of all time. Compared to his original theme --- It had a more "mature" feel to it --- which matched precisely where Bret was in life post-WWF, now unleashed and a LONER in WCW. The spirit of this song was still very "Bret" --- but a little more SERIOUS, Darker, and Brooding --- for a DEADLIER, Montreal-damaged-HITMAN that had nothing to lose. Haunted and consumed by a new obsession - winning the WCW World Championship - Bret would now win "at any cost" to preserve his excellence.
It really is a shame how he was mishandled. THIS Bret could have lived up to his moniker of "HITMAN" ---- literally TAKING OUT & DESTROYING members of the NWO one by one. With nothing to lose, his agenda would lead him to the *ONLY* Redemption he craved: HOGAN & his world title.
That is exactly how he should've been booked: keep him heel and have him angry, paranoid, hurt, and have the win-at-all-costs mentality. His weak point was his promos but all his promos in 97 were awesome just coz he was genuinely pissed off. I would've loved to have seen an evil Bret Hart, and all he had to change in appearance to make it happen was his pink shades to sunglasses. He looked a proper badass with those on.
This one is a pure heel version when Bret was showing his “Hitman” side in wcw! Best part was when he kept destroying Booker’s, Benoit, DDP and Rey Mysterios’s knees!
Don't forget his feud with Sting. Absolutely loved that feud. While Sting is my favorite wrestler ever, I loved how that feud played out. It ended with Hart totally destroying the Stinger at Havoc '98.
I remember when he was heel in WCW and had this song, there was this theme being played when he kept destroying booker t, rey mysterio and dean malenko. He truly was letting the hitman character evolve VISCIOUSLY!!
This suited Bret really well. Sure it’s not as iconic as his WWE theme but where he was at that stage in his career this theme had a sort of redemption feel to it.
+JoshOrtiz88 personally i perfer his first but he also did use the nwo theme in wcw granted it wasn't very long but yes he did use it which i think was his best wcw theme
Too everyone saying this is a better theme than the wwf one, you have a right to your opinion. I completely disagree though. I want to add that whenever anyone thinks of and remembers Bret Hart, this song won't ever come to mind.
Wrong cause i do and it looks like im not the only one i was in my 20s when he went to wcw this is the song i like to remember him coming to the ring it sounds harder.
@Justin Sharpe Funny. I have played Tekken 3 since 1998 houndereds of times. The e-guitar-parts do sound pretty similiar to some arrangements on Tekken 3.
I like this theme. I think it could have worked for Benoit for some reason too, I dunno why just seem to suit him. Or if he and Hitman would have worked tags more often, this theme would have rocked for them!
I always liked Vader's WCW theme as well as Lex Lugar's before going to WWE in 1993. And my favorite is the original Wargames theme. And yes I admit i liked the Vinnie Vegas played by Kevin Nash.
Very good theme, although Bret himself didn't like it. I think that Bret thought of himself as hip, for the kids and all. It really did fit his dangerous attitude of injuring people in WCW when he was a heel. Bret was a good heel in WCW, did better than when he was babyface.
Global Warming Skeptic Bret liked this theme song, nit wqs his first WWE theme song that he did not like because it felt like it was ckearly trying to copy his WWE theme
Better than his Wwe theme. Not afraid to admit the truth. Honestly the problem with Bret Hart in wcw was he should’ve evolved his character. Dropped the pink spandex, gone with a modern look like hogan Nash and hall did. Wcw was a non character driven company.
This is actually a really good theme. The only downside is that it's completely overshadowed by Bret's WWF themes. Given to a WCW guy and this would probably have been looked at more fondly.
WCW had some awesome themes. Obviously when you think Bret Hart theme you think of the guitar squeal at the start of his WWF theme but I liked this. Warriors WCW theme was something else, and you had the Nitro theme, which I include on my all time tv themes. They ripped off a lot of rock songs though, Jericho's ripped off Evenflow by Pearl Jam, Ravens ripped off Come as You Are by Nirvana and DDP's was Smells Like Teen Spirit. I also seem to remember Renegade having the same theme as Marc Mero. Strange that lol
This theme fits Bret for his run in WCW.. He actually acted like a Hitman going after people in WCW. The NWO bit wasn't for him tho.. Great theme. I like this better than his WWE Theme.
Bret was about to be huge like massive in WCW. My FIRST wrestling memory is him outsmarting Goldberg with that metal plate. Too many mistakes took away some of the best wrestling we had. Steiner or Booker T shoulve brokn the streak in 1999/2000. Top stars shouldve been rubbing Eddie, Benoit, and Jericho. Heyman shouldve worked with WCW more.
The "electric" sound at the beginning as well as that "wobbly" sample used thought make this theme so memorable. Just watched Hart vs Booker in 99 on Nitro, the entrances were just epic. Two awesome themes. Booker's "Harlem Heat" theme always gets you doing the "raising the roof" dance lol: ua-cam.com/video/nMnzFgOAKXs/v-deo.html
I guess it's too bad Bret hates all his WCW themes & that the WWE network always uses overdubs, because this theme is badass. Then again, Bret didn't have many fond memories from his tenure in Atlanta, so maybe I understand...
This is really fitting for Bret in WCW. The Grunge feel really complemented Bret's "Really don't give a fuck about anything" attitude he had in WCW. Granted, he had that for the wrong reasons...
Bret Hart likes to claim his WCW career was a failure, but let's have a look: 2 x WCW Champion 4 x WCW United States Champion 1 x WWE United States Champion 1 x WCW World Tag Team Champion Fifth WCW Triple Crown Champion And by the way, he never lost his WCW Championship. Those are some sick guitar riffs. I could listen to this song on repeat.
I do often
This is a good tune. I think the people who shit on it only shit on it because it's not WWF.

Haha jason statham transporter heist

This theme stomps the fuck out of the WWF offers.
Bret Hart was such an underrated heel. His promos had gotten way better by the time he fully turned.
In 97 his promos were brilliant, all raw emotion, purely coz for the most part he was pissed off with Shawn
the promo when goldberg spears him with the steal plate on was epic
Better heel than face
I honestly love this theme song. Very underrated. Even by Bret.

His WWF theme is iconic but this has more of the vibe of an actual hitman IMO
This really was the ULTIMATE theme for a heel Bret Hart. It's like a dark sequel to his WWF theme.
I must admit, while the Hitman's WWE 90's theme is iconic, I always thought this one was way cooler.
This was one of the best wrestling themes of all time. Far better than his other WCW tune, which to paraphrase another commenter "sounded like the groans of a dying robot".
First heard this watching World War 3 '98, still think this is one of the best heel themes in wrestling.
Bret‘s WCW run was cursed. That said, this is an awesome theme for a heel Hitman

The reason why I liked the video is because Bret Hart is my favorite wrestler

I really wish he had stayed in WWF/WWE. He wasn’t shallow enough to be in the WCW. He needed depth of story lines to thrive, much like Austin.
Nothing to do with being shallow. Vince couldn't afford to pay him.
I prefer this over his WWF era theme. Felt way more raw and aggressive.
