Considering WCW gave you generic crap or lawsuits waiting to happen a la DDP, this was pretty good stuff. It’s not his WWF theme, which is iconic and suited him perfectly, but it’s also a completely serviceable heel theme. Unfortunately, they would reuse it for Marty Jannetty, which kind of stole its thunder, but it’s still a solid, original theme. Sucks to be Bischoff when you let go a guy who would go on to almost singlehandedly beat you in the Wars. The Rock was very popular, but nobody is going to be the draw that Austin was as Stone Cold. Bret was all business. He was and is a legend, but because Bret wanted to put over legitimate talent, so is Steve. And he did it in virtually the same black speedo that Bischoff said was unmarketable.
