A satisfying declutter 😊

- This week, I made the decision to finally tackle the chaos in my craft room/office since it had become overwhelmingly disorganized and difficult to work in. To simplify the task, I addressed each area separately, clearing out the clutter and creating an organized space. I also share my decluttering tips. It feels so satisfying to do a good new year declutter.
Let me know if you too, have a cluttered corner and share your tips for tackling it in the comments section below.

Clutter is sign of people that sees the possibility of upcycling and creative mind. The problem is finding the sweet point where you can actually use the stuff and know have space for all your brilliant ideas ❤
And through our stuff, you never use.
Yes, definitely a balancing act with using the stuff I keep and knowing when to pass it on ❤️
I love how you blame the Fairies 🧚♂️ 🧚♂️🧚♀️🧚♀️
Awe! That makes sense! I wander if the fairies are just in Ireland! I’m sure they have kin in Texas. Texas fairies 🧚 !
@@annaibarra3447 I know that they're out here in Kentucky 😅😅
@@CelticLady01 😂
I love how your kittens follow you around seeing what you are doing.
Always supervising 🤣🤣
I live inside my workspace, a busy prof calligraphy and design studio - The work clutter is constant! After more than three years, I am still trying to find spaces/toss boxes standing on the floor, all containing cash-earning potential. Then in the second half of the year, huge boxes of stationery blanks are delivered by clients, for me to do the hand lettering...I used to have a studio that actually had more space than my current live/work one does!!! But, slowly does it, and on Saturdays I spend time refinishing old furniture, and then also make work of the declutter of a particular corner., Being a pensioner, I need to work freelance in order to afford rent and food, and so I have learned to use what I have. Often I turn cardboard boxes into (what looks like) baskets.....
Those two little babies follow you everywhere you go...it is beyond cute!!!
My supervisors 🤣🤣
I am sooo into decluttering videos right now! I can scarcely walk in the door of my craft room , it’s full to the gunnels of ‘inspiration’ 😃 Still, 20 min blocks I can do , so thanks for that bit of positivity
Always love a good decluterring video, especially when a new season approaches!! Hope you’ve been well Catherine!!
It’s been too hot to clean under cupboards 😮 I agree it’s better to do small tasks often, and not procrastinate, letting a job get bigger and overwhelming.
I do not have even one cluttered space in my home. The resident fairies on the other hand...🤩
Had to stop the video and say yes! to going slower in January and waiting for Spring.
My craft room is my hot spot. I clean it all up...then I need to find something, or start something and it's back to a mess!
Only boring people have tidy homes 😂it’s great watching you tidy up , but as you say sometimes I just watch and sometimes it inspires me to do something similar. Watching the kittens is pure medicine. ❤️
Hi Catherine, I love how Bán & Beag follow you from room to room. They are getting so big. Have a lovely weekend
They’re my little followers 🥹🤣
@@DaintyDiaries 😊
No surprises, but my clutter always seemed to multiply in my sewing/craft space. However, since the beginning of the new year I’ve systematically gone through everything I’ve accumulated, from notions to fabric, to haberdashery and yarn and I’ve culled what I no longer want to use. I have only kept what I really want and the rest I’ve donated to like minded craft friends and the local library craft club. I’ve definitely felt more productive since I’ve decluttered and now once I’ve completed projects (sewing especially) I clean up my workspace as I go so it’s accessible for the next project. I’ve also gotten into the habit of planning my projects via journals which has helped me stay focused on what it is I need rather than just buying bits and bobs for the sake of it … it’s definitely been a lot kinder on my purse that’s for sure 😊
great to see someone else cleaning up a craft hobby work room in late January yesterday I finally put away the last two Christmas bins. just in time for Valentine's Day! ha ha better late than never xo lori
Pain corners - I have a pain dining room. I live alone, so the dining room table is where I eat, it has all my planning supplies, stamping supplies, art supplies, you name it. There's exactly one spot left at a table that seats 6, for me to sit. I also have my seed starting station in the dining room and all associated supplies. Another is the "L" at the end of my kitchen. It naturally collects all the things. Eventually I'll clean out my home office and make that the creative space, but it'll take some time.
Yes, cleaning videos can motivate me.
Thankyou Catherine for sharing your decluttering. Like you have been doing something each day. It's amazing how things get done when you time yourself. Say 15 minutes for one job. I especially loved your video today with your little assistants supervising.
They are the nosiest helpers ever 😁
Those sweet fairies have travelled across the pond to my house.....................
I love how the kittens want to be wherever you are at. So cute!
They are so nosey 😁
Hello Catherine! I hope you get your wish of the out building one day and a room for your tools. Those kittens are just the sweetest! Cheeky thumbs up dear!
Aw thank you ☺️❤️
Clutter accumulates on my bedside table! Matter of time I just cleaned it up this afternoon.
Love how you never miss a beat tidying - along with kissing & petting your babies!!❤️😁
They make it fun 😁 a pause for a cat cuddle
That’s their reward for supervising my work 🤣🤣
My trouble spots are the kitchen table, laundry room and future pantry/sewing room. I have homes for things, but I need to move stuff out of those spaces to move the things that belong there. That's where the overwhelm festers. I picture what it should/will look like and that brings me joy, but getting there, ah that's the thing.
Ah clutter with a capital “ C”! For me it is greatly due to lack of proper storage - but working on it bit by bit encouraged by your “ I can do it!/ I did it” spirit!
Little idea to ponder: Guest rooms are great but to set aside a room for the rare occasion someone stays overnight… maybe with a murphy bed… that could be a lovely additional place for sewing and cricut projects…?
PS my much loved black cat Mingxer was a lad so am having a hard time wrapping my head around your black cat being a lassie! Ok, back to my jobs!
My craft room is the one place where I believe any thing that touches another thing results in greater accumulation of additional things. It’s definitely the hot spot in my house.
It’s so easy to build up the clutter isn’t it!!
Lord Have Mercy, I've been going to sort out and de-clutter my craft shed for months now...each time I walk into it...I feel overwhelmed and can't face it, yet it's always on my mind to do it🤨 so what do I do? I buy 'things' that will help me ie; storage containers, files, etc ...they then get thrown in there and left too. 🤔🤭
@@vivsalittlebitcrafty4854 you are not alone, starting is always the hardest part! try setting a timer for even 15min & just tackle a little. once you get going I guarantee you’ll be at it longer! the so called experts say do NOT buy any storage containers until youre done. this is the 1st time I took that advice & Im glad I did. Im nearly done decluttering my art room & this HAS to be the last time! you got this😊
My clutter grabber...my kitchen island. Everyone drops thier stuff there! The babies are growing but oh so beautiful!
They’re getting so big now 🥹🥹 aw the island I can totally imagine how easily it can become full!!
My understairs cupboard is called 'the cupboard of doom'.Everything goes in there..shoes,coats,jigsaws,games,bags,paint,mop,vases,unused crockery, cat litter, foot spa and loads of other miscellaneous stuff.🤣
The kittens are too cute ❤ the little toes
Rub a little cat mint on the pole to show them where to scratch. Attach some cat toys with velcro or stitch them to the pole.
What about the storage space you built under the eves of the house?
Everything looks tidy. Now relax with a cup of tea. I enjoyed your video. Thanks Catherine.
Hot spot for me is dining room table.
I'm working through each room to declutter my whole house, and I've also really gotten into fool me once, I'm only a couple episodes in though.
Craft room!
A drawer well two in the kitchen and my exercise bike in the bedroom lol😊
My office/craft room is the only room I allow to be messy. It is my spare room and also where I do my ironing so I do have to keep it mostly tidy. I have an IKEA gate legged table which I open out, today I had my Circuit out on there.
The kittens together in one bed. ❤ I'm adopting a rescue cat on Tues, so excited. - Frances
Oh my gosh so exciting 😍😍 best of luck!! It’ll be such a special day xx
Hi Catherine of course it’s the fairies I have dust fairies they come in at night! Love the cats ❤️
Those pesky dust fairies 🤣🤔
We also have a "dump pile room" at home. We open the door, put some stuff and then close the door "nothing to see here" 😂 and the home is clean and clutter free in a certain way 😂
Out of sight out of mind 🤣🤣
Your office looks terrific after your clean up (fairies). My friend Patty and I takes turns helping each other about one hr. at a session - we get so much done and then have a game and tea. Makes quick work and is a morale builder to do it with a friend and then return the favor. We work crazy fast together. Just pick one thing that can make you feel better and go for it. I do some of her mending too sometimes in repayment:))
I started on my house a few weeks ago by cleaning the inside of the windows then went down with Covid ☹️ Just trying to get some energy back to continue. Thanks for the great video 👍 🌺 🌱 🌼 😻
The fairies are regularly at my house too. And they do most of their chores overnight.
Well surprise surprise the 2 furbabies are totally the cutest part of the vid😊
Clutter defiantly a sign of creativity ,that's why my sewing/ craft room is always messy great no need to tidy it then
I could listen to your voice,all day❤
Clutter makes me feel so stressed. I need to do some sorting each day. Your video is really motivating thank you❤❤
I live in a condo community. I am fortunate to have a garage but it’s become a dumping around now is getting there but the garage is going nowhere it’s very overwhelming. When you’re working at a home for yourself, it’s very challenging because when you’re working outside of your home, you always have a start time and then time punch in and punch out at home that’s difficult. Did you ever think of giving yourself like a shift I start work at 8 AM and I keep going Until break time then go to the kitchen and get something to eat and then return to work and keep going till 3 o’clock then you punch out for the day you turn off your computer you shut the office door and enjoy the rest of the house keep it separate as much as possible
I can't watch cleaning videos before bedtime, because then I want to start cleaning and decluttering at once. Watching others cleaning is really very contagious. 😄
Mines my craft room.....my daughter moved back home and boy is my craft room full of her "stuff" !!! And then christmas things got stuffed in there...always sort it in spring but it fills up each christmas !!
Decluttering videos definitely inspire me! Unfortunately I have clutter hot spots everywhere 😂
I have that scratching post, and you can buy a perch for it that slides on the top - my cats love it & hang out on the top to look out the window 🙂
My craft room/office is where I accumulate clutter; not very surprising! Thank you for the inspiring video Catherine.❤
Thanks for stopping by ❤️❤️
My clutter corner is always in the bedroom, it drives me nuts but I always fall into the trap lol x
I accumulate yarn and I am constantly trying to keep it all organized
You keep a tidy house. We all have times where we just need to clean up an space. You have motivated me to do a deep clean tho ! Your cats are beautiful. The white cat is a male so he will get bigger than his sister. You might want to get a large cat tower and put it in front of a sunny window. They will love you for it. Maybe put the desk on the wall you just moved the little kitchen and put some shelves in front of one side of the windows so you can do seedlings, then put a tall cat tower next to the self. Or put a cat tower next to the scratching post in your living room. Just some thoughts ....
Well you inspired me clear my work desk this morning!
My cat, she just has a cardboard box that she hits and scratches in her favorite toy is cardboard toilet roll. I find them everywhere
The amount of stuff under the toy kitchen ... It made me laugh 😂
I am happy to hear that “the chair” is a common occurrence in other people’s homes…and I use it exactly the way you described it Catherine.
😄🪑🪑🪑🪑
It’s a given 🤣
I'm taking January off !!! I finally got all my Christmas decorations put away ( I moved them from the living area to a bedroom and i could barely get to my desk 😬)
I too , love watching organization videos... I get ideas , especially using baskets to put all the little things in ❤ and putting things back in the same spot helps me find them easier.
Enjoy your weekend with those fluffy fur babies , looking forward to your Sunday video. Happy Gardening 👩🌾
Enjoy your restful January ☺️❤️
Your cleaning videos are just as inspiring as the gardening ones. Thank you. Now I'll go and work on my basement 😊
Good luck with the basement declutter!!
Agree! You love cleaning, I feel you make a small neat mess so you can just clean away! Your clutter is easy to control.
@@DaintyDiaries got it done. Yeah!
It’s my attached garage and my room. I put my office in my bedroom. I have a huge bedroom and almost next to it is a tiny room, that was my office. Now it’s my sewing room. So my room has become the dumping ground as we call it here in the states.
It’s so easily done isn’t it! Stuff builds up so quickly but it’s so great that you have that room to yourself 😍😍
Your little helpers have grown so much!! It is so nice to declutter and clean up but I definitely have to face it one space at a time, one task at a time or I sit on the bed and get nothing done! Thanks for the inspo!
Take it one step at a time for sure!!
Ok this was good. What I loved was that you have many ‘things’ that you need to get any job done. I caught you about 4 or 5 years ago and you were in a ‘pink’ phase with decor. I checked back in when I saw your outdoor garden being set up. Loved that. Love your refurbishing ideas. Love your kitty crew. Question where do you keep the kitty litter box?
I’m a teacher, and I haven’t seen my kitchen table or chairs in quite some weeks 😅
It really gets dusty under the furniture it is so annoying. Not that long ago, I cleaned under the fridge what a mess.
I had to chuckle when you said you would like a tool shed and it would have a place for everything and would be all neat and tidy….I have a tool shed and a greenhouse and guess what state they are???? Not unlike your office….. happy decluttering, great thing to do in the dregs of winter..
I suppose that’s true 🤣🤣 just another thing to fill up isn’t it 🤣
so satisfying to watch, I love it ☺☺
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for this it will motivate me to make a start on my kitchen always the worse . Your Kitties are adorable as ever.🩷
Thumbs up kiddo!
Ah Catherine the cats will love the scratching post, from past experience ours used to love sitting there looking out the window ❤
I've taken a large shopper of donations to the charity shop most weeks in January so far and I still have more to donate. I do try to be ruthless but somehow the clutter creeps back so I have to have regular purges. But I always feel so much better for it
Christmas season, family project, you were sick !!! Give yourself some grace, you will get where you want to be clutter wise, time can do wonders! 😊
Loved how the kitties were helping 😂
I am still storing Christmas decor today. Took a break to watch.
My craft room and garage are the places that get cluttered! I have learned I am a messy crafter😂 Love your cats!
There’s magic in the mess 👌🤣
I love your helpers
You are so right!
😂 that chair in the kitchen for sure
Your home is so sweet and cozy. Just lovely ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Such a satisfying video. Would love to pick up the toy kitchen for my little boy if you're going to donate it!
Hi Emilie, it has gone to a new home x
Lovely video. I feels so nyc to clean out
My hot spot is in my bedroom. Painting, sewing, office work, sleeping, storage ...
My goodness the kittens are growing so fast.
Hi Catherine. I love your vlogs. Kittens are adorable. Love and respect from Vancouver, B.C.
Love those kitties 🐈⬛ ❤ my utility room always seems to end up cluttered!
Another great video. I love the way the kittens follow you. So cute
"A place for everything and everything in its place"
Do you plan on converting to the scratching post top to something the kittens can sit on? I bet they would love it so that they could look out the window in style.
If my craft room is clutter free then my guest room is not and if my guest room is clutter free then my craft room is a mess! It seems like a never ending battle🤷🏼♀️
Always fun to see the kitties and how much they’ve grown. Yep, now I want to clean!
They’ve grown so quick 🥹
Loved seeing the kitties sharing the bed on your desk and using the new cat scratching pole. Thanks Catherine.
Lovely fun motivational vlog!
Loved your question "what is THE hot SPOT in your home?"😂... I have multiple 😭.. in the kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom 😭... really need to decutter and organise.. the last time was 2019!
I'm always clearing stuff, from one side of the room to the other ha ha. Your kitties are more gorgeous everytime we see them.
Catherine with the play kitchen gone it does give you more room.👍👍♥️
My hot spot is my office craft room. Things get shoved in there until I have time to put them up. Especially during Christmas when I move things to put out Christmas decor.
Dining room area at back of my living room is my clutter area. Mainly covered with crafting stuff , paints, pencils etc that I use with my grandson and great niece. Both 5 years old. - Frances
My biggest problem area : kitchen table and windowsill right next to it 🥲 Catches piles of everything. Loads of papers especially.
This was fun. Thanks for sharing.
My car is a clutter magnet 😅 but.. it's getting better. I'm trying.🤪
I love to declutter and clean my house, even when I help a friend with their house, it’s so relaxing and the feeling afterwards is very rewarding, you did a nice job Catherine ❤
It’s so satisfying isn’t it 😍😍 thanks for stopping by ❤️❤️
❤
