    Ingredients
    1. Thick Aval 1 cup
    2. Jaggery 3/4 cup
    3. Milk 1/2 litre
    4. Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
    5. Ghee 1 1/2 tbsp
    6. Cashew nuts Raisins for garnishing
    7. Saffron ( optional )
    Preparation
    1. In a pan heat the ghee and roast cashew nuts( golden brown) and raisins ( like balloons)
    2. In the same ghee add 1 cup of aval and roast till aval pops
    3. Add 1/2 litre of boiled hot milk.
    4. You can add 1/2 to 3/4 litre of hot milk for your consistency.
    5. Stir well until the aval cooks well in the milk.
    6. Meanwhile heat 3/4 cup of jaggery with little amount of water until jaggery melts. No need for exact syrup consistency.
    7. Strain the jaggery syrup and add it with aval milk mixture.
    8. 3 to 4 minutes after boiling add the roasted cashews, raisins and cardamom powder.
    9. Aval payasam is ready!
    10. Serve it while hot.
    Tips
    1. If aval payasam is thick add milk to adjust consistency
    2. Thick aval is suggested as it takes right time to cook. 5 to 6 mins
    3. Can add saffron for rich taste.
