In short: Cohesion is the attraction between 2 SAME particles (ex. 2 water particles) and adhesion is the attraction between 2 DIFFERENT particles (ex. 1 water particle and 1 glass particle). Hope this helped!
I want to add more specifically that adhesion is the attraction between the two substances. It also should be mentioned that adhesion occurs due to intermolecular forces, which divide to physical adhesion and chemical adhesion --> physical interaction involves hydrogen bonds and van der Waals bonds and chemical interaction involves covalent bonds, ionic or electrostatic bonds, and metallic bonds. Experimental data suggest that adhesion is primarily due to weak van der Waals forces.
mmm. Careful there. When you say insects are able to skid on the water, make sure to explain why. Insects and water are not the same particles. Cohesion is the sticking together of particles of the same substance.
My teacher said that cohesion is the water monicules that attracted to the surface and adhesion is the water monicules that attracted to each other. ❤😅
Funny how I need to review the basics (things I learned in junior high) from time to time. Does the wieght of the bug make the most difference or is it the shape of the insect that keeps it from sinking?
._. those are the exact examples in my text book. I didn't understand either. I want to know, I guess, what exactly causes both and how you can tell them apart.... >.
what exactly causes both is the oxygen particles have a negative charge while the hydrogen particles have a positive charge there fore the oxygen of one molecule is attracted to the other molecule's hydrogen particles creating a bond between them which is cohesion as it is water on water adhesion is when a water molecule binds/bonds with something other than water paper towel, glass. etc

Yup it helps thank you
very helpful
This. This right here just made it all more clearer 🙌🏽
Tqsm this helped me alot
Get rid of the video and just read this lmao
10 years later and you're still helping people. Thank you so much for your help
12 years later and still so helpful. Thanks!
Who else is here the night before a bio test preparing for the exam?
me
Me
me heyo lol
im here for physics test lol :)
Me 😂😂
10 years of helping ppl still 7k sub bro u get some respect

Excellent video !

Yeah, cause for a second there I was like you mean surface tension....?
ok buddy
This was so helpful! I’m trying to do my biology homework and I wasn’t understanding cohesion and adhesion, thanks for the help
Amazing video thank you!
Thank you very much.
Very Helpful Tomorrow I Have Exam :)
Thank you ✨✔️
watched it twice ._. still dont get it

Thank you kind sir
really helpful!
its very helpfull video, thank you!
I'm 1000th like!
Yes it did thank you. :)

Very helpful video. Thanks for posting.
lol wanted to see, if you would reply. this was 8 years ago. How did you do on that exam?
The insects are able to skid as the water molecules mix in each other and then the insects are able to step on it. Plzzz like
thank you so much !
Thank you this helped a lot
Thank you✨
Good examples
very helpful!!
yes thank u
Hi, can you explain this concept in regards to water traveling up to the top of a tree
good explanation
Hi, can you explain this concept in regards to water traveling up to the top of a tree?
very helpful thanks
thank you!!!!!
very helpful
If you dont get it, learn how hydrogen bonds work on water. And what he says about insects, hes talking about the insects that walk on water
Excellent
Sir telllll difference between cohesion adhesion and gravitational force
paint level over 99999999+
So what happens in atomic level during adhesion?
thnk u
why cant my teachers teach like this
So water can be wet?
goood
what about chakra?
yea u did.
i 2 didn't get it
till this day we still using this video for bio tests 🤦♂️

Any podar students here
who else is also here forcefully bc of school...
didnt explain much at all -.-
yeah it did... maybe ur not smart -_-
@@toxxicdefender873 because understanding biology indicates intelligence right? Your comment suggests a lack of intelligence.
wait this is not English I need to find an English video for cohesion
A pond are you mad that's not a pond man
I'm Tired
dlv
Adhesion is not explained properly
This video is a piece of shhhhh
