    In this competition to add as many drops of water to the top of a penny, you can easily visualize adhesion and cohesion.

    Why did the water finally spill?
    Was it due an increased amount of pressure and lack of surface as more droplets were added?

      I usually get around 40, but I have had students get over 100.

    What are the variables in this experiment like the independant, dependent and the controlled?

      Well, it depends on the question you are asking. If you are asking if heads or tails will affect how many drops can fit on the penny then heads or tails is the independent variable and the amount of drops is the dependent variable. A control for that experiment should be the size of the water drops, temperature of the water, how flat the surface the penny is on, etc.
