02:33 This is just incredible dialog right here... Great stuff guys... "picking up 98 kilos is gona be really hard....it's like picking up 100 kilos" LOL
Pete trying to drag the tire without being able gain any ground reminds me of those toddler harness systems parents use to keep them from jumping out into traffic. 😆
Great video! Especially the "probably not" and "terrible idea" should become regular clips inserted in future videos when you and Tom have an awesome (and slightly risky) idea... before doing it anyways ;) . Also, if the floor had a crack, you would have pulled a truck ;). Is there a strongman discipline where you pull a train? Grabbing the railways would probably offset the slight "climbers legs" disadvantage.
@@WideBoyz You would need wings to offset your legs then... and I don't think chicken wings are going to help (not saying I wouldn't want to see you try!)
@@WideBoyz The key point about pulling a car / plane is that once you get it moving you have some inertia, but the tyre isnt rolling and provides constant resistance to being dragged, which makes it much harder.
Really loving these colaborations with Dan. There's something about how calm he is at all times that's really pleasing watch. But I also love how he can go Beast Mode like when he tells Pete "ITS JUST PAIN".
Yeah, I’m a similar weight class and getting to a 200kg deadlift took a while. I’d imagine it’s also easier with an actual deadlift bar, rather than the farmers carry.
How is lifting an atlas stone with a rounded back not dangerous for your spine? I'm so intrigued! Loved this collab. So much interesting aspects of training. And Dan is just a solid coach!
Loved this mini series, top quality content! Love seeing you try hard on other things. How much strength training do you normally do? Was super impressed by your attempt at 200kg on the farmers carry 😵
This was so interesting. I’ve seen proof that Pete has an immense pain threshold so it was kind of cool seeing him struggle for once 😂 now I’ve written this I feel like a terrible person who is just here to see Pete suffer but… 🤷♀️ great video
I commented on your last strongman video, but I have to say again (as a strongman competitor that started rock climbing during COVID): I love how open you are to other sports and new experiences. And I’m a little frustrated how much easier it seems for you to pick up strongman than it was for me to pick up lead climbing haha Jk. Keep up the good work!
At first I was disappointed, but then remembered and realized the legs definitely bottleneck a climbers performance in stuff like this :( then again if pete or any climber for that matter had super strong legs they'd definitely weigh an unfavorable amount for climbing.
Love the video! Dan is awesome and Pete did great! On video it does seem like you are holding your breath a lot when it gets heavy. I think it could help you a bit if you focus on your breath. It helps me a lot to breathe out while lifting/during the powerful move. Just a random note, maybe it helps!
After watching a lot of STORROR videos I think you need to do a lot more parcour ... because that is a lot about "using the legs" AND it also includes speed & coordination. Adding SOME elements of Strongman for the legs would round it off. Magnus' friend Anton Fomenko used a weight vest when trying out new Ninja Warrior obstacles and simply adding one during parcour might be enough to add the leg training needed.
Farmers is probably the most complete total body exercise (calves up to traps) and I’ve never hurt myself doing it (going over 300lbs per hand). Stones are the most natural feeling lift I’ve done. The stones presses into your abdomen and really braces your back. The initial pickup looks awkward but it’s just a stiff leg deadlift. A pro strongman deadlifting up a 400lb stone isn’t much since they deadlift 900-1000 lbs. I’ve tweaked my back doing the yoke for sure. Overall I’d say I’ve had way less injuries than when I power lifted and the 20 times I’ve climbed I’ve probably tweaked muscles more (mobility, tendons in hands and forearms).
@@brianmcnamara5890 thanks for the response! I was always taught to lift anything with my legs rather than the back, so especially the stone lifting looks very painful to me. But if people don't get hurt doing it, it might just be more or less unnecessary worry
@@Mirabell97 totally fair to say that. It’s hard to explain stones without doing them but as you squeeze them into your abdomen/chest it feels like wearing the worlds biggest weightlifting belt.
Maybe I’m taking the videos too seriously but areyou sure you want to go down this path? I got really into strength training with dumbbells over the winter and accidentally put on 6kg of muscle. It’s really not helpful for my climbing now spring is here.
"I can walk with that"
"Probably not"
"I can"
"That's a terible idea"
We've all been there Pete - good effort, stay safe ;D
Classic moment 😂
Hilarious, I rewatched this part 20 times at least
I laughed out loud and woke the missus up… classic Pete.
When you free solo multi pitches anything probably seems like a good idea
I laughed for 5 minutes straight to the serious face : I can walk with that hahaha ! Magic moment Pete !
I loved how he stopped you from running so you didn't like, I don't know.. hurt your leg again. Lol wholesome guy!
Keeping me in check 🙌
His coaching credentials were on display for all to see there. Legit
Can I get some love for Dan?
Great combination of pushing you and making sure your safe. The kind of trainer everyone would love to have!
Yes I've had a few sessions with Dan, and he has exavtly that mentality. It's great 👏
Yeah absolutely!

From start to finish this put a smile on my face! I love the fact that Dan said no and if Tom was there he would have said “you’ve got this”

I think in strongman they pull an aeroplane

calm and firm, haha
I really would have expected "It's just pain, Pete" to be completely successful.
Dan's voice when he said it too, shivers. Can see why he's a good coach!
I re-herniated my back just watching this.
3:55 - I love hove he just goes "nope".
Lmao, expecting Pete to essentially be able to do a 200kg deadlift with no training when he weighs 70kg? Come on now!
Yeah, I’m a similar weight class and getting to a 200kg deadlift took a while. I’d imagine it’s also easier with an actual deadlift bar, rather than the farmers carry.
@@DaTimmeh Definitely not, but still very impressive
@@hicow6075 I think the grip is more impressive on farmers carry, bc it's essentially double overhand 😳
@@geomon22 Indeed its very impressive grip, but again I have to disagree. Double overhand is definitely harder because the bar spins.
@@hicow6075 Oh true! With farmers carry it doesnt try to spin - I agree with you then 👍
As someone who got into powerlifting and bouldering as my way of getting off my arse, this is cracking to watch. Cheers Dan and Pete!
"On the list of bad ideas, it's way up there." I've thought that about a lot of the stuff Pete does. :)
Once I found out you two knew each other, I was waiting for a collaboration.
These two videos are so good. Also Pete you were great on the podcast
These are actually really great videos. Pete so good in front of the camera.
the tire drag made me laugh so hard
Instant like, when I see Pete's face on the snapshot I know I'm gonna have a good time!
Just saw this guy at britains strongest man coaching literally the strongest man in the world
How is lifting an atlas stone with a rounded back not dangerous for your spine? I'm so intrigued!

I was wondering the same thing.
Lifting anything with a rounded back is not dangerous
Upper back rounding is fine, as is a small amount of lower back rounding, excessive lower back rounding is where it gets dangerous.
I'm so glad he didn't let him run with that final farmers carry weight lol
"Not sure I did that end bit right 'cuz that was, like, hurting my ribcage"
"Yup, perfect"
Oh strongman. Never change.
So great to see how small a world it is, Dani is an excleent strongman coach and has done amazing work with Tom
So many brilliant moments in this vid. Theres almost more quotable quotes than Lock stock and 2 smoking barrels
😂
Dan is a legend too! 💪
Loved this mini series, top quality content! Love seeing you try hard on other things. How much strength training do you normally do? Was super impressed by your attempt at 200kg on the farmers carry 😵
probably 2 sessions a week of weight training.
You should have put your climbing shoes on for the simulated tuck pull. The pros wear them for the real thing.
I know 🤦♂️ we talked about that afterwards!
Pete is a machine. Doing so many near 100% effort events back to back for the first time too. 😮
Love these videos, really chill to watch. True climbing vibe
This was immensely entertaining, the whole collab! Great stuff Pete! Dan seems like a top notch guy too, you guys work well together
Pete? Signing up for a strongman I hope! 🤘💪🥳

Pete was the sound at 9:54 your spine?
Love the content.
haha no not my spine luckily. that was strongman tacky.
“It’s just misery, pain, and a bit of blood”
Yes lad. You get it!
What a great coach.
The tire bit looked like my cat trying to escape her harness when I try to walk her.
Thats just impressive and it takes a big man to admit when he cant do something. Hats off
I would kill to see Pete, Magnus, and Juji all collab
Never thought I'd see my two sports collide
Pete this is the collab of my dreams! I'd have been a strongman if I wasn't, you know, tiny and weak.
these two episodes were great
Great vid, you did really well i reckon Pete!, 💪
The couple of strongman events I did were hard. Felt like I'd been run over for 2 days. Certainly a good way of building overall strength.
This feels quite good
Been doing a lot of squats lately to try to ski better, because I also have the dreaded "climbers legs".
At first I was disappointed, but then remembered and realized the legs definitely bottleneck a climbers performance in stuff like this :( then again if pete or any climber for that matter had super strong legs they'd definitely weigh an unfavorable amount for climbing.
Me, crying because I did weight lifting (heavy on the legs) and backpacking for 10 years before getting into climbing.
Love the video! Dan is awesome and Pete did great!

Liked and subbed, Pete's a beast
Just did an 80k atlas yesterday. I can tell you they're fucking heavy. 110 is no joke. Great job.
This is brillant :D love it
I like Dan! Top bloke.
Subbed.
Dan would be deceptive, because he is big, but one wouldn't probably assume he was so strong.
I’m really curious to see how some supplemental strong man training would affect your climbing.
Very impressive but you can't leave it at that; Pete's a natural for the Hercules Hold
My back hurts just by watching this
Strongman Pete just got to work on those legs a bit, impressive stuff.
You are still a Beast! 💪
You can tell Dan is a great coach. Even for someone with climbers legs! 😉
Oh man, so many of these things looked like they aren't great for back-health - are they?
