- A long, BNSF, freight train leaves a siding and heads towards Denver, Colorado. Most railroads have rules of no more than 10-20 MPH when leaving a siding for the main line. The "SSS Broomfield" sign means that the switch is a spring switch. A spring switch is a special switch that can be run through (this would normally cause damage) with out switching the track. Unfortunately the crew member threw the switch anyways, so we don't get to see and hear the switch in action. Spring switches are uncommon especially on the main lines.
Lovely catch Tom! Gee , I didn't think you would use a spring switch on a main , as you say? We use them on branch lines but they are becoming less used. Not a bad idea to get out and throw it..maybe he's been caught by a faulty one ..it does happen sometimes! We also have a few "self normalising" turnouts that are power switches that switch back to normal after the train has cleaerd the turnout track section...scary things!
Cheers Gregg.
Today ..... 111 wagons!
I can honestly say that I watched all 9 minutes 52 seconds of this video!!!!!
Thanks Tom for this one, from the UK.
That is one awesome freight train!
Awesome video of these train passing by. Is there a way to find out when the BNSF trains passing by at this location. I been wanting to find out, but not sure how. I hear them pass by from the distance, but seem to miss them. Thank you. 😊
I'm an EMD fan but do those ES44s ever sound nice.
Easy to count the number of cars (111) today.
How frequently do trains pass through this crossing?
Maybe six trains a day.
Very nice catch, Tom. Usually zipping by. I can't wait to be in UP/BNSF land. @4:41 what is that horrible sound? @7:49 wow, long tank cars. Did you catch F the NFL on one of the grain cars; I guess that sums it up.
Thanks for sharing. 👍 👍 👍
Hey nice video and also I live in Colorado and I been there before and seen Bnsf trains there
Very Nice !!!
Nice video
*Nice video. Thank you for sharing!*
Just love listening to the ES44s in action. Nothing better in the train world.
Fantastic catch, nice variety of freight cars 🚂👍
Very cool
Dry
Thank you Tom. For us Europeans this is truly amazing. Can you tell me what goods are transported in the yellow uncovered car at 3:24?
Usually lumber products on cars like that.
@@canuckloyalist4681 aah yes. I would have guessed isolation foams. Thanks
Filmed very nicely, thanks for showing
That was a very long train. It had almost everything. Did you notice the older BNSF locomotive, that was the third locomotive? An oldie, but goodie. Thanks.
