- Trains of the FW&D Volume 1 - The BN Years covers the last 4 years of Burlington Northern operation across the Fort Worth & Denver main in north Texas from 1993 until 1996.
Locations where trains are seen include Iowa Park, Wichita Falls, Rhea, Bellevue, Bowie, Alvord, and Avondale. We also pace an empty Smithers Lake coal train through Fruitland.
Not only are BN trains included, but trains from Union Pacific (exercising trackage rights east of Wichita Falls) and Southern Pacific (exercising haulage rights out of Colorado) are seen.
This program was produced using analog VHS footage shot over 20 years ago onto analog master tapes. The picture and audio quality is not up to todays modern standards.
very nice videos. BN is one of my favorite railroads.
Always B(ee)N one of mine. It's the road I started on decades ago and quite a ride.
I was born in 93. I really w ish I had been older so I could enjoy BN.
I have to say this really brings back memories of when classic EMD and GE power were like flies around here.
Halfway between Fort Worth & Denver, my hometown...Dalhart, TX.
I miss those strobe-lighted SD60Ms.
Nice videos on both volumes

I live in the UK and model BN/BNSF based loosely on the yard at Fremont. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Did anyone see the Great Northern box car at 3:15?. Still earning its keep 23 years after the merger that created BN.
There was one just like that used at tool storage at Sand Point Idaho well into the 2000s.
Great BN Action! But where is volume 2?
It was the next suggested one when I viewed. Try using v=v2CKCa7Z1xg
train at 2:31 any idea what year this is... awesome train... no grafitti!
Whats the imfo on that derailment
Sure didn't have the graffitti problems then that are normal now.
I don't know that I've seen that much difference. I wonder if it differs on routes with different car dwells and yards closer to cities.
When I started designing and building railway vision systems in '93, I was amazed at the amount of graffiti on the cars. The car shops and inspectors don't seem to care as long as the placarding and SCAC/serial aren't obscured. Sadly, it's the best paint on some cars. I don't like that it represents trespassing and most of it's just scraggly tagging, but some of the murals are interesting.
Those LMX units were junk. Worst seats I ever seen in a new unit. Plus they rode terrible.
