- We heard about the upcoming plastic knife ban in New York and we got a little fired up. Lynn speaks his piece on the subject and we hope you all consider some of the points he makes in this discussion.

you can make a prison shank with a plastic cup and a heat element. It's not hard. You can sharpen a stick on a pavement. You can make a spear or sling from things you find in the woods. And hopefully someone does these things and uses them on these law makers because those weapons cause more agony than a gun or knife does when they kill someone. Let them contemplate their idiocy in a pool of their own blood as the slowly slip away into the depths of hell, where all traitors belong.

It's not about reducing crime it's about controlling us gun owners when they decide to tax us to death and make other laws on how we are to live our lives along the way they want as to. I disagree. I think it could absolutely have an effect on violent crime. If a criminal doesn't have the capability to easily get a weapon, which draconian control measures could cause to happen for many criminals, they are less likely to be able to effect violence on others. With that being said... I don't think it is morally or legally okay to remove the right of a law abiding citizen to legally defend themselves from a potential attacker to provide that potential benefit. I also think when you look at the greater good, removing legal defensive weapon uses as an option makes everybody less safe overall. Especially with the amount of violence that exists in our country.
Governments ban these kinds of things to protect themselves, not the people.

Yeah, anything that has any sort edge, like paper (microscopic serrations basically, but you would need to spin it very fast to do anything) or is pointy enough will do the trick, sometimes it doesn't even need to be pointy if it's the right shape or heavy enough.

Okay.... There's a Home Depot literally next door to me. I can walk in, buy a long length of hardwood dowel, a multi-tool with a sharp blade and saw on it, a wooden file, some sand paper, and a roll of duct tape. Literally everything I need to make a wooden stake for hunting vampires. Or....
Conceal on my body while walking through a metal detector at a court house, if I wanted to. Non-magnetic. I'm not going to, because I personally have no reason to. But I could if I wanted to. None of those items are banned. None of those items are going to be banned in a few days. All perfectly legal to buy and possess.
Governor doesn't give two hoots about public safety or protecting citizens. He's doing what every career politician does. Pretend to do something for the benefit of the people. Then, toss that back in their faces come election time. Get some positive press by pretending to make life safer for the common man. Ban something that no one or almost no one cares about, that you can pretend is dangerous. Zero opposition or practically none. Make a show of it. Claim you're "Tough on Crime," get free positive publicity from the liberal mainstream media. Remind people what you did come election time.
The Governor knows full well this law will do nothing to protect anyone. He knows. He's not an idiot. It's ironic that the law goes into effect the day after Halloween. Make a couple of wooden stakes for stabbing vampires through the chest.... or a human-being in a court house after sneaking them by the metal detectors.

Check out their Koga plastic defense weapon. I have one and it's incredible. Less than $10...
I've used a few of these before in testing, I especially like the tanto. Everything he says about the specs is true obviously, but it still really is a bit mindboggling how light and capable these things are when you actually get your hands on one.

A few years ago I was a leo and I was assigned to sneak weapons into the courthouse through every checkpoint I was able to get the cold steel plastic tanto thorough. That being said I was able to get a .45 through ,2 of them telling them it was my belt buckle setting that off. It is not the weapon but the diligence of the staff. For years I carried a Delta dart for a last ditch effort a lot of reassurance for an ounce.
Damn man, what if a trigger happy security guard found the gun & shot you before you had a chance to explain? lol

There's a video on here of a gangly teenager in jeans and a loose T-shirt, he does a 360, walks around on camera, nothing out of the ordinary save for a slight limp in one leg. Then starts pulling about 12 or 15 different weapons out from under his shirt, where they'd been tucked into his pants or held in an undershirt, or in his pockets. Notable pieces were a mini-UZI tucked in his pants behind his back, a machete from a vertical sheath above it, and a full-stock, 26" barrel pump shotgun that had been dropped down his pants leg, the stock partway up his torso, and held in place by tightening his belt. Suffice to say, someone wanting to conceal a weapon can and will do so.
Laws only affect the law-abiding. Laws meant to hamper the ownership and carrying of weapons serve only to protect the government, not its people.

I worked as a bailiff, and the "court liason officers" (deputy sheriffs assigned to the courthouse), would test the security guards (the unarmed contract guards who work the metal detecting machines). and it was amazing how inefficient the guards were. I guess one can't expect much for a $12/hour guard who can hardly speak English anyway.

I was getting ready for work at about 4am, almost 20 years ago. I still remember that feeling of helplessness very clearly. I came out screaming like an animal because I didn't know what else to do. I was very lucky it worked, but that hope and a prayer is not how I prefer to defend myself and my home.
Jerry G when that happened to me, I was living in NYS. Illegals had broken into my home. Fortunately I wasn't home but my 12 year old pet goat was and they decided that they just had to go out to her pen and strangle that gentle soul after they burglarized my home. NYS did everything in their power to sweep it under the rug. And they did!

Jerry I feel for you ...I've had multiple break ins here on my property in ga. ..in my case it was a barn and a vacant mobile home all of those were while I wasn't at home... There was one time there was an attempt to break into my residence though.. again I wasn't home but my dog stopped that

Our problem isn’t an inanimate object it’s criminals and mentally ill, we used to lock unstable people away from society in institutions now that’s “wrong” so they allow them to just walk around society. We used to execute violent offenders or lock them away and never release them, they now are often released right back onto the streets after bail is payed “drug money”. We didn’t have these issues to this extent a few decades ago, these are recent issues that have started.

I stay in a country where it was made almost impossible to legally own a gun. And guess what happened when they brought in these laws? Violent crime where firearms are involved skyrocketed. Criminals are using illigal guns against law abiding people that they know won't carry guns. Bottom line is that to ban something that people use to protect themselves will just make matters worst. Criminals don't follow laws.
Cold steel is leading edge in innovation and no one else is even close.

A friend of mine died in Canada from dirty street fight, the attacker had a knife stabbed him to death he was fighting with his bare hands fighting for life this could have saved his life and I totally agree with this man's rights with his products I'm going to be ordering a few thank you. I work on equipment in San Antonio courthouse. I carry a XL talwar every time. Granted I enter through the dock and there are 0 signs for any weapons or detectors.
I've seen a knife made out of hard wood that wound up being almost as sharp as a steel knife. The Democrats can't ban trees.

We martial artists also train with plastic knives. I am sad to say that I am not surprised that NY legislators would not want people to learn to defend themselves from the bad guys...NY legislators have no regard for your rights, least of all your right to self defense. Sigh. So typical of them.

What percentage of crime over the past year in NY could have been prevented by this new law? I have to believe that there have not been that many crimes that could have been prevented *if only* the knife was detectable using a metal detector. If anyone has some stats or information to the contrary please post. I would very much like to hear the rationale for this legislation.

NYS position on firearms is known. It is now making its position on these knives known. The common denominator is that people who are intent on harm will find a way to enact that desire regardless of laws, and the people who _want to obey laws_ are punished.

I love Lynn's vision for Cold Steel. I have over 30 pieces including one of these "plastic" Delta Darts. Every piece I've ever owned is A+ superb quality. I buy nothing but Cold Steel. I'm surprised he didn't have his mini Koga in this plastic display. Not a knife but they last forever, are super sturdy and do a lot of damage! They fit right in your hand and have a nice "point" on both sides. Excellent products every time! Thanks Lynn! No one beats Cold Steel.
