  • Tender and juicy, these grilled mushrooms are hearty enough for meat-lovers and are a great alternative for vegetarians or a fantastic option for Meatless Monday.

I do it the other way around 😄 and have meat just once a week.
By reducing my meat intake down to just 'Meaty Monday', my physical and even mental health shot way up.
My weight is down, to a healthy BMI.
    Cholesterol is down.
    Blood pressure is healthy.
I feel clear and fresh and light and enjoy my time in the kitchen.
    These do look delicious!
Especially the little twist of lemon...
    Awesome

I have a special diet that is so extra! I am plant-based vegan, keto, and I can't have tomatoes or vinegar with the cancer treatment that I take. Most Portobello steak recipes do not adhere to my restrictions. Then I found this video! Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this recipe! I tried it, and it was scrumptious! 😋😋😋

This is a great meal when for when you are sick. The mushrooms remove toxins, the thyme dries up your sinuses and the lemon helps liver function. My husband and I have c Ovid right now and I'm going to cook this tonight. I just found this channel, I subscribed and hit all on the notification bell. I feel blessed to have found you Lucinda Scala.

Lucinda, thanks for the video...do you ever spoon out the gills of the portobellas? I find the taste if not scooped out a bit off-putting. I guess it is a personal choice(?).

I feel like this is missing some depth. I would maybe use grass feed butter, pink salt, "garlic" saute onion,.....then lemon. The butter will crisp it better. If it is still bland... then add mccormicks steak seasoning.

Anyone nervous about if this will make a good meat substitute, it really does. I often crave mushroom burgers which is just a portobello in place of a patty, mushroom steaks, and you can also do mushroom "steak" and eggs. Healthier version of steak and eggs. I genuinely didn't think it would make a good meat replacement until I tried it. Like how could a mushroom satisfy that meat craving?? But it does.

That was so much more than 4 tablespoons of olive oil...I used a measuring spoon and 4 tablespoons didn't even come close to looking like all that oil in your pan. Try doing it with a measuring spoon and see for yourself the difference in how much oil will be in your pan compared to this video.

vegetarian meal with mushroom steaks at your center?
What nutrition value does a mushroom have that it can be the center of your meal? how many carbs? fats? protein? lol
it is basically a sponge with water

    • @beepIL
      @beepIL 5 років тому +2

@JORDAN Tyler I still think there is not enough protein, it is 3g for 100 grams of Portobello mushroom.
That is a lot of mushrooms to eat in order to get a decent amount of protein intake...
I get 25g protein in 100g of meat, and it takes a second to prepare at home, and it tastes better (in my opinion)
Sure, i would complement the meat with some Portobello, it goes very well together,
But i would probably not be able to live off Portobello as a source for nutrients.
If you know of mushrooms that can give me a 25g protein intake for 100g of product, let me know, i'd love to give them a shot

beepIL Wow, you're an idiot. Why don't you take some time to learn a little about nutrition, particularly that of mushrooms, and then whatever it is you think consists of a 'proper center of your meal' - which btw, is one of the dumbest phrases I've heard, what are you, a 1940's house wife? Dietary knowledge has expanded since then. I can't believe there are people who aren't afraid to look like morons and open their mouths to expose their sheer ignorance without doing a little research first. Seriously, invest in some education.
