I plan to dip my toe into the Civil War this summer with MMPs On to Richmond 2. Expensive but apparently there is a lot of stuff for your money, according to Ardwulf's Lair review.
GCACW series is great if you like seeing a bunch of armies and divisions covered with fatigue markers all over the place. I tried and rejected the series decades ago. Beautiful maps do not make for a beautiful game, is my point. If you enjoy that sort of "accounting" game, by all means -- you may get a lot for your money, but not much fun, imo.
I am watching the video, you should reread the general concepts or watch my how to play video. A unit moves and has to change formation ceasing its current move. You can move the same unit over and over once it’s changed formation.
I know that concept, and I did watch your video, thank you for that. I don't think I kept moving anyone after flipping, but the video is not error-free as it wasn't meant to be instructional, just learn as I go. So perhaps I did. I did move some formations more than once, though. Anyway, I'll do more precise efforts in the future on other battles. cheers and thanks for watching!
I think you misunderstood what I wrote. Unit A is in maneuver formation and has to change to battle formation. Now the opponent moves. On your next move you can move unit A again before you have to move any other unit or you can move another unit and later in the turn you can move unit A three times in a row. So you can move the same division as many y times as you want until it enters an enemy ZOC or you pass. Regarding towns, if you enter the town on a contiguous road you can keep moving in road mode. That said it is possible to enter a town from a clear hex and then you would have to change formation. I hope that helps.
@@markherman50 very helpful, thanks. It may appear on the video, due to playing solitaire rules for Fredericksburg, that I wasn't alternating turns from side to side since the Confederates automatically pass in solo mode. I was certainly playing fast and loose as I learned the game. But it's clear units can move multiple times. Also, I did find your ruling about towns/roads on BGG right after I asked the question here. Note to self- before doing videos, read the rules forums :) what can i say? I was in a rush to play this! cheers

On to Richmond contains two reprints and a module for the Petersburg campaign, so should give you alot of gaming.
@@michaelhaggett1016 thank you for the info. I knew it was a lot, but not how much, lol.
