- I am very thankful for all the goldfish that made it to their new home safely, but I am very sad about Gigachad. He was one of the fish that fathered a bunch of fish last season and I had plans to breed him again. He had a bunch of children, and I still own many of them, so he will live on through them and the babies they eventually have. I feel like the heat was the main reason he passed away. I had known that it was going to be warmer the day of shipping but when the day actually came it ended up being a lot warmer than originally predicted and it was recorded to be about 87F when I actually got to the boxes and two of them were in full sun. I thought that by landing in Boston at 12 pm I would have enough time to get to them at about the same time of delivery, but it ended up being about 3 hours later that I was actually able to make it to them. I think that it was already a very stressful process for everyone, the heat made it worse, and Gigachad just happened to be the first to bite the dust in the tough situation. His body was pretty stiff so he was not that immediately freshly dead either, it's possible he may have died before he even got to the door but I am not sure. Anyways thank you all for watching and for your support as always, I hope the other goldfish adjust well in the coming days.

I'm an ex- UPS damage department employee. I was specially trained in proper packaging techniques and had three years of experience before becoming part of that department. In my time with UPS I have had roughly about a hundred "live fish" packages be pulled off the belts and trucks, for repack or to be damaged out. I've seen a little bit of everything, from fish bags popping, boxes getting run through by metal rods, ties coming undone, to frozen fish during winter, and dead fish smelling like death in 130 degree trucks in the summer.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHO PACKAGED LIVE FISH IN HOME DEPOT MOVING BOXES!!!!
These boxes are not made to go through the shipping process. Their internal combs are not built to withstand the vibration, dropping, and force of packages being stacked and slammed by other packages. There is a reason why when we enter "shipped in moving box" into our DMS program, it kicks out out as a "not eligible for damage insurance claim". Fish go through the same treatment as any other box, that's why they are usually sent in boxes with a higher edge crush and burst strength testing, and tend to have foam or cardboard fortification. They need to be packed tight so they don't move, and always add on an extra 20 degrees, which means even if it's 75 and nice out, those trucks are going to be a good 90+ as the sun beats down on them as they travel.

I just found this channel a few days ago and don’t really know your fish, but I send my condolences. Your boy gigachad was a very good boy.
He reminds me of the enormous fish that passed away just as my dad and I were packing up the last of the stuff from our apartment while moving in 2004. We saw him breathe his last, and then the radio announced that Ronald Reagan had died. My dad and I half-joked that the angry ghost of Reagan had murdered our fish, but he (the fish… well, I guess Reagan too) had been sick for awhile.

poor gigachad, always hurts to lose a pet when you’ve done everything else right. just goes to show how important proper shipping is for any animal, the care you took likely saved many of the goldies’ lives even if it was tougher on the big fish

I know those little guys are more than pets and more than family to you, they’re also kind of your career, your livelihood, your reputation, a big part of why you bought the house you did, all that to say I can’t imagine what that day must have been like. Like, it should not be legal to just leave live animals on people's doorsteps like that without a person there to accept the delivery.
Animals shouldn't be delivered to begin with. They aren't commodities. They are sentient beings. We don't ship babies in boxes with holes.

@@Sakachi18yeah but if the person doesn’t show up then the animal has to go back on the burning hot truck that 10-20 degrees more then outside to be keep for a day not in the best conditions and which is incredibly stressful, to just have to go back on that track the next day stressing them out even more.

They aren't... But it's ups they don't really care... I work USPS and I can get in major trouble if I leave live animals outside they have to be taken in by a person and nobody answers they get a note to come pick them up

I feel like crying cause Gigachad was like family, he was mostly in all your videos Luke. gigachad was known for his size, his popularity and name! he was a legend! I know from experience that being a fish parent can be really hard. Sometimes you do everything you can to ensure their health and safety and things still go wrong. GigaChad will be missed, but never forgotten ❤

I just went and played with my betta fish for 20 mins. hes 3 years old and the most interactive and intelligentfish ive ever owned. i cant hold him close, but fish are still beloved pets and you grow very attached to them. you literally take care of them like hildren. making sure theyre clean, fed, and happy. RIP Giga. We will miss you
