I love and appreciate these videos of a young Gentaro. He was so cute and cuddly as a newborn and toddler (still is 😋). Like Kintaro he too was feisty and full of energy, smart and full of personality. Who can resist his enchanting baby self running in circles and dancing while wearing his blue bucket hat? For those who have commented how distant Momo and Genki are towards Gentaro, study this video. Both parents are great, very involved, and loving all over their 1st born. The shots of Genki visiting Gentaro while in human care are heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Her worry and pride for her baby leap out of the screen. The way she touches him and looks at him brings tears. Now we see him as a teenager, young blackback. Just as steady and loving toward his family. These are just my thoughts and observations but I don't think I'm too far off the mark.
I love Gentaro. He is a carbon copy of his father. They have the same features nostrils and eyes. Many people have said that Kentaro looks like his dad. I think they need to have another look before comparing both brothers. Kentaro’s face and nostrils is a carbon copy of Genki. It’s funny how many people have said it but, they’re wrong and I mark my word for it.

Seeing Gent play with Momo warms my heart!! Momo played just fine with him, he looks and acts like a caring loving father! I don't know why he doesn't show affection to Kin like this, but I do think Genki keeping kin to herself for the first 7mo. Did create a riff between the rest of the family. Watching Gent being born, Genki first looked to see if he was alive, since she is very familiar with having a dead baby.
There was never any real evidence that she had a miscarriage

Wow, this thread explains it all for me. I have been very critical watching Genki not letting the new baby out of her grasp for mor than 10 seconds at a time. I didn't know "the why" of it. why she is like that with Kintaro. She is traumatized by the zookeepers taking Gentaro away from her at 4 days old because she wasn't providing enough milk. That had to be very hurtful to her, I didn't know this and now it explains her behavior.

Jim DiBattista She probably doesn’t understand, but the zookeepers saved Gentaro’s life. He became so weak at the end of the fourth day that he was not even moving. The zookeepers kept him alive! It is sad, but I am thankful that now we can enjoy seeing Gentaro blossom into a young happy and healthy gorilla!

Teresa Prata there's actually just about 1 to 2 videos of the new baby a day. He's actually almost 3 months now. Gentaro's been spending alot of time with his father and they're the cutest when they're wrestling and playing👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Morning everyone yes but mum Genki was never aggressive towards the keepers for taking Gentaro away from her because when they brought Gentaro back to mum but from the other side of the cage mum was like hello son them mum was like thank you keepers for your care to my son Gentaro I loved this bit near the end were mum walked over to Gentaro while he was standing in the sqare blue bowl having a paddle she put her hand out towards Gentaro she wanted to hold hands with her eldest son twice it was so sweet to watch and then Gentaro was giving him self a little wash bless him 😂😘😘😘😘

Chelle She used to live in the Ueno Zoo before.
She was very close with Silverback, but as stress increased as her other female gorillas increased, she lost her finger by her self-injurious act.
That's why she came back to Kyoto where she was born.
