This performance was aired on TV. Two months after his death. It always makes me sad to see him in that condition but his voice was great to the end. He gave it his soul and he still showed his humor and humanity. RIP my beloved Elvis.
I,ll take Elvis in the fifties the sixties ,and the seventies ,this man was a force to be reckoned with ,he was very sick here ,he had glaucoma ,enlarged heart ,colon problems ,and he had alot of aches ,and pains ,but he never wanted to dissapoint his fans
--------------- that opera note he hit at 5:38 was powerful and long. Pavarotti would evny it. Although Elvis was sick, the power in his vocals increased. Imagine what he could do if he were healthy. I especially like his last album, MOODY BLUE, he was again on an up-swing in quality & popularity. The songs are all good. Regarding his health, Elvis had a long list of health problems. The autopsy report showed only prescribed medications by a doctor were in his system. Every medication was for a legitimate health problem, but that still didn't prevent him becoming dependent upon it, especially the pain meds for his twisted colon, and other issues. These same meds would still be needed if he were alive today. It's a trade off, mitigating the pain yet becoming dependent.
Elvis died on August 16, 1977. This concert was on June 21, 1977 approximately 8 weeks before he died. He was severely ill with many different problems & really should have been in a hospital & not on stage. One of his medical problems was a lung condition he developed at an early age & he had trouble breathing. But his voice was strong here & he sang beautifully. This was Elvis' last FILMED concert -- as sick as he was he went on to do 5 more concerts in different states, his last concert before he died was on June 26th. This song was originally written for the movie "Unchained" in 1955 about life in prison but did not use the word "unchained" in the original score.
So sad he was trying so hard strung out overweight yes but his love for his fans and that voice God gave him never left him right till the end 6 weeks later dead rip E
Elvis suffered critically during 1976-77 with a rare and painful cardiac and inflammatory disease that his doctor failed (or refused to treat). "Doctor Nick" threw pain medication at Elvis, and other meds instead of treating Elvis' underlying issues, which were many. Doctor Nick should have went to prison for the rest of his life. Elvis needed SPECIALISTS to treat his conditions, and if he had that, he may still be alive today. The world lost a HUGE ICON. The largest of them all. Much more could have been done medically for Elvis had he only known he was being taken advantage of, and lied to by his doctor. Literally abused in the end by those closest to him. His doctor, his ex wife, his staff.
Elvis was and will always be the best
Very ill, tired and worn and yet the spirit of a Giant 🙏❤️ He can touch the soul like no other. I still love him so… He died weeks later greatest loss
Elvis THE GOAT
Elvis is, was and always be "The King". This was such an awesome performance. Love your reaction!
